Activate accession to Fuse Grapha and Snoww into Overlord Grapha, activate Grapha and Snoww’s effects to pop and search a card. Add another Snoww and then summon it, then return it to the hand to summon back the Grapha in grave. Add Accession back to hand and discard the Snoww to add another card. Add Reign Beaux Supreme Overlord of Dark World and set Accession, end turn. Depending on what your opponent does, use Overlord Grapha’s effect to turn one of your opponent’s spell or trap cards into a discard and discard Reign Beaux. Reign Beaux effect activate to add Silva, War Lord of Dark World and Special Summon Ceruli Guru of Dark World to your opponent’s field. Ceruli’s effect will activate and since it’s a card owned by your opponent technically you get the great discard effect of Silva to shuffle two cards back into your opponent’s deck. After they end their turn summon back the Reign Beaux by returning Silva, Link off Reign Beaux and Grapha into Cross Sheep, use Accession to summon out a second Grapha Overlord by banishing Grapha in grave and Silva in hand. Silva summons itself back and Cross Sheep Brings back Snoww, then return snoww to summon back Reign Beaux, and return Accession to hand, discarding Snoww, and searching Genta. Link off Reign Beaux and Cross Sheep into Knightmare Unicorn, and return Silva to hand to summon back Reign Beaux. Discard Genta to search Gates of Dark World. Activate Gates and Banish Genta while discarding Silva to draw a card. Genta summons itself back, link off Reign Beaux and Unicorn into Accesscode Talker, return Genta to the hand to summon back Reign Beaux off of one of the nuttiest non once per turn effects in the game right now, pop the Ceruli left on the opponent’s field with accesscode, and swing for well over lethal. - เกม

My only memory of this game is playing the 8 player mode, and every time Akiza summoned Black Rose Dragon she just obliterated every other player lol.
This game had alot if potential for a sequel. Imagine earth bound immortals you can race on the nazca line tracks the dark signers made. Also when they summon the immortals their massive in the background. When they attack you see the monsters hand slowly reach out to attack you
Old Yugioh games are so cool, even if they’re objectively bad I like the idea of all these weird ideas of how to implement the world and cards into a different setting. I wish they’d try branching out into weird things more, Cross Duel is kind of a step in the right direction but there’s so many cool things to do

Yessss, this is my favorite magic card game on motorcycles show ever, I’m so excited you are covering this.
I never got into playing Yu-Gi-Oh, but I always was intrigued by it. I remember I used to have a few books of the manga but I think they got sold at a yard sale. I realized that I used to have one of Exodia's legs as a bookmark in one of the books and I hope that whoever has it now is happy with it. Also, the music in the beginning isn't from Pokemon Y and idk if that was an intentional thing or not but I wanted to point it out

Honestly ever since I watched 5ds I fell in love with riding duels and how it mixes things up with speed spells, but this game definitely feels like it was developed by inexperienced hands.
Also I understand how you feel about zone being a lookalike and I've nothing wrong with that but honestly I liked it, having him be someone who looked up to Yusei and have that admiration shattered through tragedy hit me in the heart.

I always loved the Yu-Gi-Oh video games because I could use absolute jank and still have some amount of success. Anti-burn didn't fly during master rule 2 and it certainly doesn't now.
I don't remember this game even slightly difficult aside from the race against Jack. When I played it last year, I remember consistently being so far ahead that I couldn't see the opponent behind me.
There are more Yugioh video games "inspired" by the anime than actually based off the card game. That's a lot of spin-offs.

I don't know how I felt about this game. I actually owned that game many years ago, and while there were a few elements I did like about the game, there were many things that annoyed me. Mainly the difficulty being a bit on the unfair side. Now keep in mind, this is based on vague memories, as I haven't played the game in years, as well as the fact that I don't own the game anymore, but I remember struggling over certain races, mainly the ones against Akiza, and the final bosses between Jack Atlas and Yusei Fudo. That, and the fact that one could run out of cards and be ultimately defenseless while you're still racing.
Oh man I'd love to see you cover the other Yu-Gi-Oh games, the other 5Ds game on the Wii would also be cool to see
I remember watching some solo episodes of DM LATAM dub on public tv that piqued my interest (watched piramid of light), and somehow grab a couple of cards while I was 10
But my family though that was the devil and store them somewhere. It wasn't until high school that some friends introduced me to the game again(luckily for me it was Right before MR4, so the learning curve wasn't as steep)
And from there I would play edopro until master duel release and got to play anywhere

My first episode was Yugi VS Weavil back in Duelist Kingdom. I fell out at the last third of the Exceed era mostly because I was in the worst place in my life at the time but also I had to sell my entire collection because I was moving states and could only take what I could carry in a duffle bag and I needed every cent I could get.
Wheelie Breakers is a really cool novelty as someone who's been a fan of the franchise mainly through the anime.
(Also the twist with Z-ONE works really well thematically and I will die on this hill)

My entry point was the very first episode, I accidentally bought two Japanese packs at a Walgreen's before the first two starters came out. Yugi was my choice.
When I was in 6th grade there was an unofficial Yu-Gi-Oh club at our school's library I would go to before classes started. I had gotten into the game because my older cousin gave me tag force 4 for the psp and I was hooked. But one day, one of the 8th graders used MST to 'negate' a mirror force in a duel and I told him that's not how it works. The only reason I knew that was because I had seen the interaction happen in tag force, but I couldn't explain it properly because I was a dumb 6th grader. So when the 8th grader was like "nah, I don't believe you" I got so upset I almost quit Yu-Gi-Oh. Now I'm addicted to duellinks so clearly it wasn't that bad

Sad to hear you got fleeced as a kid when you played. A friend of mine had his deck stolen. And i traded a wind up zenmaines for a common elemental hero bubbleman. Because the guy said they were both cards we “equally needed” i did need bubbleman but i didn’t know zenmaines was 70-100$.
The sad truth about Z-One- he canonically DID steal Yusei's identity via surgery and go back in time to kill the real Yusei, so WHO'S PUMMELING WHO NOW?!
Wasn’t there a 2nd campaign where you do race against Jack Atlas at the end? Answer: Yes, there is. They recycle the tracks but some of the opponents change.
Summon an unoutable monster and then instantly win? Wheelie Breaker was ahead of its time.
I was interested in getting this game when I heard about it coming out in japan with a card reader but changed my mind when it got released stateside without it.
You do duel Jack in the second go around of story mode.

Honestly I dropped out around the xyz era too but that was less due to questionable card design and more due to the fact that physical copies of jump stopped existing and so did the videogames.
I was super pumped for master duel and maxed out the duel pass within like a week but then I dropped off super hard cuz I didn't have friends to play with and without meaningful progression herald of ultimateness turbo started to become really boring. That being said drytron is one of many decks I clicked with aesthetically only to find out that they're stupid good but it's also the first deck I actually played on returning to the game so I can never really hate them for "Hey you know what ritual monster is below 2000 attack and pairs really well with existing ritual support you can actually use?" even though meteonis drytron probably shouldn't have been made the way it is which even konami seems to know since the new dogmatika ritual sports the first ever can only be ritual summoned by archetype cards restriction lol
10:48 Actually, drifting is slower than simply taking the correct racing line. You want to stay close to the apex, or else you run wide and go into the grass. Motorcycles also can't drift. If you tried to drift on a bike, then prepare to say hello to the concrete.

Yeah I would argue that 5DS was the peak of Yu-Gi-Oh. Synchro Summoning made older cards actually useful and the game wasn't too fast like it is today. Konami also didn't quite put themselves in the hole of having to create Omni-negate monsters to actually see play and Shooting Quezar Dragon which DID have an Omni-negate was actually balanced by how hard it was to summon. Stardust Dragon WAS a little too good without too many ways to get rid of it when it first came out (it should've had 2400 ATK) but at least it was anime ace that was good IRL.

I still have this game and somewhat enjoyed it but man this really does make me look at it and realize it wasn’t all that great. Also could never even beat the Akiza fight when I played it so wow just knowing there’s only a couple more races after is just disappointing.

There is a fair bit of misinformation in this. Yusei is the last opponent you face in story mode on the first try. If you play the story mode again you get to play an alterated story mode. Where you will duel a security D-Wheeler first instead of the Hoodlum. Ruka/Luna in the fifth race then Aki. You actually do race Bolt in the second campaign, you never race him in the first storyline like you said. (You duel him instead of Hunter). And for the finale you duel Jack instead of Yusei.
After you beat the story mode twice, you unlock the ability to pick certain duels to race in both storylines, which helps you get better cards the more times you duel a certain opponent. So whilst it may not be ideal there is some replayabilty to make your deck better, which you need to beat the grand prix mode, especially on Platinum which is very damn difficult. However, you also can unlock cards and other characters and their D-Wheels by doing so.
Also for the record the stats the cards give you with your bike are Top Speed for Monster's, Acceleration for Spells and Maneuverability for traps (though the last one barely helps). Sonic Chick doesn't raise your bikes defences!
Also turning is simpler to do, if you actually use the brake as you turn, by using the c button on the nunchuck, as you let go of the accelerator, you can make tighter turns, I will give you the fact it doesn't always work, but it makes certain tracks easier.
This game was a fun experiment game, and with like minded people, this game is a hoot just for how silly it is. No it isn't one I recommend for most racing fans. But I give Konami credit for doing something different with the formula. Something they kind of stopped doing after around 2005, which is a shame as many games like Duelist of the Roses, Capsule Monsters and yes even forbidden memories, just give a unique twist on what is just usually card game simulator games.
I wish they started doing interessting stuff again.
