The weird part about Dragonball Evolution is that, from a gameplay perspective, it isn’t actually all that bad. That makes sense given that it borrows heavily from the Shin Budokai games which were both fairly solid. What really makes it awful is that it’s Dragonball Evolution, so we have to suffer with acknowledging that godawful movie every time we play it.
I think my favorite thing about Episode of Bardock is how TFS handled it. Bardock didn't have a sudden personality shift, and his super saiyan transformation was triggered by how asinine the plot was.

Huh. This was actually the fairest shake I've seen a Funny TH-cam Man give the PSP DB Evolution game. It even acknowledged it as basically a reskinned Shin Budokai! Kudos for actually noticing! Everyone else just slams it without even playing it solely because either they see Justin Chatwin and scream like the end of Body Snatchers, or because other Popular TH-cam Men said to. Even TV Tropes can't make up its mind about this game. Shame you didn't notice or acknowledge that Final Bout is just a 3D reskinned Butoden tho (or that that was in itself it sbiggest downfall.)
So in Final Bout's build up mode your moves get stronger the more you use them. This goes to absurd levels, I spammed Vegeta's basic punch (iirc its an elbow strike) so much that it started doing super move levels of damage and even oneshotted weaker enemies. The moves even get an explosion visual effect when they reach that level
Quick rant I remember when everyone was hating on the Wii motion controllers because they didn't want to "exercise" while playing a game that won't register... The Konnect is literally that fear
Not to mention it killed Rare, unleashed the video game equivalent of the Star Wars Holiday Special upon the Earth, and became an e-waste nightmare clogging up used game _everything._

On the topic of Dragon Ball games, I want to go out of my way to defend The Breakers. I see too much hate (or more accurately, it being written off,) but I feel like it is 100 percent unwarranted. Being the raider is obviously an enjoyable power trip, but survivor is also fun, having the thrill of narrowly escaping the raider is something that I personally enjoy, especially for a franchise like Dragon Ball, and teaming up to fuck up the raider is immensely cathartic. BUT FUCK THAT, THE FACT THAT WE'RE GETTING MORE RAIDERS GIVES US A CHANCE FOR FU LUM TO MAKE HIS GRAND RETURN! #FuLumMoments
As a french person it was crazy to learn that the American dub had remade all or most of the music and most people have a completely different idea of what " dragon ball music " sounds like .
That whole music replacement thing is becoming less and less of an issue here in America as time goes on. I'd say the average American Dragon Ball fan is now more familiar with the original Japanese soundtrack thanks to DBZ Abridged and Dragon Ball Z Kai.
When I got Dragonball GT Final Bout, I think Goku had just turned into a Super Saiyan. I didn't know who the hell 75% of the cast was, and I was confused as all hell because of the many "same" characters (why various forms of Goku? Why were there 2 SSJ Trunks characters? Who the hell was Vegetto? Wait, is that GOHAN?!". On the other hand though, I loved it because I would think of who did what and what certain relations were. And that Super Saiyan 4 form... daaaaaayum

It's not that Dragon Ball Final Bout didn't use the Funimation dub cast, it's that Final Bout was released before there even was a Funimation dub. The dub of Dragon Ball Z that was airing at the time (1997) was the Ocean dub, while the Funimation dub didn't start until late 1998/1999. Funnily enough, they didn't even use the Ocean dub cast either.

DB Evolution the game is just really funny. Take story mode, for example. The hideous models and ridiculous cutouts kill any tension, it's so lacking in characters from its source material it gives fights to Agundes and Fuller the school bullies before devolving into non-stop Piccolo fights and it poorly tries to add more Dragon Ball elements into the plot by having Piccolo call Goku a saiyan. The cherry on top is that the final boss is regular Piccolo as if you haven't been fighting him the whole game despite the game making up a "Neo Piccolo". Which also means that the game technically answers the cliffhanger the movie left unresolved thanks to Neo Piccolo's arcade mode.
Every DBZ game is judged on one important factor that decides if its good or not. Whether or not you can play as THE strongest human alive Mr. Satan. If i cant play as Hercule its an awful dragon ball game.
The Dragon Ball Evolution video game reminds me of the official Lightning Thief ds game, a video game I am fairly certain I'm the only person to ever play. It has the awkward portraits and fun gameplay hidden underneath an ugly ass balls exterior made to promote a bad film.
