Probably because stuff like fridges European buyers don't really care about until you go premium level and also for regulatory reasons. The sliding infotainment screen would block the passenger airbag.

Some European makes are now part of Stellantis and a good amount are part of the VW Group. So, they have some things to work out.
@@protagonist9716 But like I said before, there are collaborations going on. Audi is planning on buying a Chinese EV platform. Euro brands already use CATL batteries, at least some of them, and those are Chinese. Chinese software, batteries, even methods of production like robotics and castings and such may come from Chinese companies. And some Euro cars may be constructed in China. It's obvious now looking at some Chinese made vehicles that they can make vehicles as well as anyone. It may not be Chinese-brand cars that are first all that present in Europe and elsewhere but collaborations are a way into the market as well.
Is there some EU regulation against larger movable charge door flaps? The charge port cutout looks atrocious on this European model. On the Chinese model the entire panel opens and closes electronically and it looks super clean, since when it is closed you can't even tell where the charge port cover is.
I don't know for sure, but if I had to guess they wanted to simplify the opening and didn't want people complaining about an overly large flap if they kept it the same size. The chinese market car has two charging ports side to side so it needs a larger flap while the european CCS plug has the extra pins under the main plug and thus requires less horizontal space.
I think if Geely slapped a Volvo badge on this it wouldn't be a bad spiritual successor to the Volvo 480. There is just something in the styling that reminds me of it.
Geely doesn't slap Volvo badges on some other car that isn't designed and engineered by people at Volvo Cars. That's not how the Volvo/Geely relationship works. Volvo is very particular about the look/feel of their cars. Volvos are designed and engineered by Volvo, not by another brand. Volvo can choose to use a certain common format in the group, but they still are the ones responsible for the content of their cars. To think Geely just puts any badge on any brand in their group is fallacious.
@@benjaminsmith2287yeah part of Geely's success has been given their subsidiaries leeway to do stuff by themselves while also making sure they have the resources and tech to go electric. Same thing with Lotus
@@iamilya-ee4dv The EM90 is an exception. It was built for the Chinese market so they rebranded a Zeekr. And a lot of Volvo owners have not responded positively to them doing this. But this was done by Volvo, not Geely slapping something onto any car and calling it a Volvo.
I am assuming the reason you can't have the sliding infotainment screen to passenger side in Europe is because it would completely block the airbag or even worse in a crash have the airbag turn the screen into a projectile weapon. I know Chinese laws are more relaxed for those cute mini evs, but I'd assume they would have stronger regulations for "real" cars and not allow that.
@@chriswang6180 He did say in the review that the sliding screen is "not allowed in the EU spec vehicles" so I assume it's not available here at all even if we get the 4 seater

Too bad they don't sell them in the u.s. looks like it could be quite a competitor if they did. I would certainly be interested in buying one over any Tesla.
Chinese don't mess around. They started attacking our eastern Europe market with cheaper ICE variants (chery, geely etc) and they are killing it ...and obviously attacking more wealthy regions with electric ones. But they are all attractive as hell.
In 2023, it seems to be the end of European vehicle production, which sells vehicles that do not hold the front hood of the vehicle we buy with a simple hydraulic or pneumatic structure.
Not really, Chinese brands know that Europeans can afford something more expensive. Look at Xiaomi, the prices of their products over there are far cheaper than over here.
They're forced by the EU anti dumping laws to keep their prices higher (in other words, VW paid politicians wants them to rip off customers). GWM is already facing some legal difficulties for their competitive prices so no one wants to get in trouble
Almost everyone said that's model Y killer 😂😂😂 but it's more for the views than reality. For my pov only the HUD is a +, the rest is big - compare with model y

I think that was an upgrade from Zeekr.
I think they were annoyed by people calling and asking where is the charging port.
Hello. What about testing the Smart #1 rear wheel drive? Thanks 🎉
Excellent review. Looks lovely.
Range is a bit tight though.
Thank you 😉
Thanks 🙏
What about the EL6?
Does this car already use Geely's Short Blade Battery which has 192 wh/kg energy density?
Bmw, Audi and Mercedes should watch this
very good review & road test 🎉
🙏🙏
How do you make a vehicle that's 13" longer than the Mini Countryman and yet has less rear legroom?
Suvs that's why
@@Lando-kx6so Just bad design. With all the packaging advantages of EVs, rear legroom should be easy.
@@benjaminsmith2287 lol Volvo is extremely particular about the look of em90
@@iamilya-ee4dv The EM90 is an exception. It was built for the Chinese market so they rebranded a Zeekr. And a lot of Volvo owners have not responded positively to them doing this. But this was done by Volvo, not Geely slapping something onto any car and calling it a Volvo.
seat cooling is available?
Remember the first made in china cars in early 2000’s?amazing improvement in quality but also design, bravo China!
14:47 bro accidently pressed the Psychopath mode on for a sec. Damn even i got scared 😂
Thomas are you going to review the new Fiat 600e and also when the Xbus comes out as I am very interested in both.
What an amazing car.
I am assuming the reason you can't have the sliding infotainment screen to passenger side in Europe is because it would completely block the airbag or even worse in a crash have the airbag turn the screen into a projectile weapon. I know Chinese laws are more relaxed for those cute mini evs, but I'd assume they would have stronger regulations for "real" cars and not allow that.
nah, he's driving a 5 seats. the 5 seats version doesn't have sliding screen function
@@chriswang6180 He did say in the review that the sliding screen is "not allowed in the EU spec vehicles" so I assume it's not available here at all even if we get the 4 seater
Great work as usual. Sorry, that interior looks like one of Woody Allen's Wet Dreams. You had to have seen the movie to get it.
i've just noticed now, maybe you've changed it long before, that for the pov driving recording, you ar eusing a new camera, Dji action 3or 4 :D. Cheers!
Yes indeed 😎
It not a Genesis when it comes to quality but seems to be really good.
Great car quality and design wise, but 21 kWh/100km is actually pretty bad. Let's hope it's something they can solve.
Too bad they don't sell them in the u.s. looks like it could be quite a competitor if they did. I would certainly be interested in buying one over any Tesla.
Thomas is the GOAT 🐐🏆
Looks better than Tesla Y as that one looks like a tesla3+duck had a baby. So is Zeekr X better priced than Y?
Chinese don't mess around. They started attacking our eastern Europe market with cheaper ICE variants (chery, geely etc) and they are killing it ...and obviously attacking more wealthy regions with electric ones. But they are all attractive as hell.
Attack?
Very very competitive and better hardware for the same price range.
can they improve the range via software?
Does it still have an inbuilt fridge?
It looks cool but very trend sensitive, not sure how its looks will age
I would prefer the "sisters" Volvo EX30 and Smart #3
why no european designed cars have V2L?
Quite an interesting car.
So the AWD drive's dangerously and not stable?
In 2023, it seems to be the end of European vehicle production, which sells vehicles that do not hold the front hood of the vehicle we buy with a simple hydraulic or pneumatic structure.
The most expensive version costs €22k in China. What happened to the price here in Europe? EU governments at it again?
Not really, Chinese brands know that Europeans can afford something more expensive. Look at Xiaomi, the prices of their products over there are far cheaper than over here.
If you sell it too cheap, you will be fined by the EU for anti-dumping.
@@陈独秀-b5mAlready😂
Von der leyen is definitely considering this because Europe can't compete.
At the same time, they're pushing for greater EV take up... 🤦🏿♀️🤦🏿♀️🤦🏿♀️
They're forced by the EU anti dumping laws to keep their prices higher (in other words, VW paid politicians wants them to rip off customers). GWM is already facing some legal difficulties for their competitive prices so no one wants to get in trouble
This is the direction Mazda should have followed with the CX3 LOL
here Zeeker X, 66kwh, is rated at 560km
Rated & reality is now emerging to be a huge difference when it comes to Zeekr platform range...
Is this a big brother to BMW I3 it is a lik ?????
it's a brother to this: th-cam.com/video/OeGInZFuFvs/w-d-xo.html
God i wish they sold theses in the us 😭😭
“Usually in normal driving life you wouldn’t accelerate that hard”
Me: Errrm……. okay. 😏
Artificial (not natural, accurate) steering feel on the road?. 🤔
So futuristic - but haven't we seen one of it's major features before. Ah yes, the Austin Allegro steering wheel.
The Allegro was ahead of its time in so many areas...
It looks like my i3S, which is a good thing!
It's a better EX30 👀
Too bad you didn't get the 4 seater version which has all the cool interior features, not sure if available in the EU market though.
I would love to hear your mother tongue. Tired hearing the English language all the time although I'm English myself.
actually as an Asain, I do like his spoken english, it sounds quite comfortable
Quartic Steering wheel by Austin Allegro
Thanks Thomas ! It looks...not that great. I also want to say: Welcome to Sweden 🇸🇪
Tack 🙏🇸🇪
This is what the Model 2 should have been.. Zeekr are smashing Tesla in terms of automotive design and manufacturing
Almost everyone said that's model Y killer 😂😂😂 but it's more for the views than reality. For my pov only the HUD is a +, the rest is big - compare with model y
I don't understand any comparisons with the Y. The Y is in a different size category.
Beautiful car
I don't like the rear end design.
Does anyone like yours??
Where is Leah?
looks interesting and some really nice features - would hope it all lasts well and does not become a throw away item like a smart phone - spotted some of the finishing damaged at 7:46.
Your height make every backseat looks small. 😄
Why can't Europeans come up with such an innovative and brilliantly designed car sold at a fair price? We definitely ARE the old world. Sadly...
I like it 👌
