This is the best explainer of counter steering because you address the differences between pushing on the bars vs. pulling and what the differences are. So many people are horrible at explaining this.
I think he was pretty horrible at explaining this lol. The push and pull thing is right but he makes it sound like you have the steer in the opposite direction lol
@@josephbates7967 Pay attention when he's sitting still on the bike and what happens when he pushes down on the handlebar. The bike leans in the direction he pushes down. If the bike leans left, it turns left and viceversa. Same as when you're on a snowboard/skateboard or bicycle
I’ve been automatically doing that on my mountain bike and now on my actual bike since I was a kid-, without knowing you’re supposed to, I always knew I was a “natural” ✨😁😂
great simple explanation. where virtually all other explanations confuse is when they say stuff like 'push forward with the left', which sounds like it's going to turn the bars if you push in the direction of travel, but you demonstrate pushing TO the left (90 degree's to the direction of travel) and not 'forward' per-se. a subtle difference. It's a bit moot though because most of us must do this as second nature without thinking about it anyway, else we wouldnt be able to take corners lol. Thanks.
@@jad2290good question, but i suppose the simple answer is that you just can't turn the bars easily at any faster speed and control it, either on a pushbike or motorbike, so it must become instinctive then ingrained without thinking about what you are doing, if not you crash lol, but when you learn a bit more about countersteering it does help you improve your technique. GL
@@jad2290 by pushing left you tilt the bike left and that makes it turn in that direction, leaning also helps, you dont actually turn the wheel with the bars like you do at walking speed. it's hard for me to elaborate more, sorry, but there's nothing to worry about you will do it naturally yourself when you start riding. GL
omg this video explained it perfectly for me. I was overthinking it. Other videos def overcomplicate it. Pretty much just like riding a bicycle or a stand up electric scooter when steering past a certain speed. you dont use the handle bars, you are essentially just leaning the vehicle. Thanks!
Only recently I've discovered that this is why I was feeling like my bike was an untamed horse I was cornering forcing the handlebar and leaning too hard in
its really not as complicated as it seems, if youve ever ridden a mtb or basic bike as a kid youve probably already done this without knowing. Dont over think it and it will come naturually.
You may not lean to follow a curve above 20kph. Just push the right handle bar a little bit, maybe 2-3 inches at first to test and then you will turn right. Push left to turn left. This doesn't apply when you are very slow or below 15 kph.
@@pedro_kapparosso I got my license yesterday, and they mentioned that we should learn counter steering (as the range wasn't big enough to go faster than 30kph, hence why I'm here) but I'm still a bit confused on the direction we push the handlebars. @@jarroddt practice in an open area with no vehicles that might put you in danger. It feels awkward at first but you will get used to it. Push for around 3 inches forward and feel the bike lean. What about like on a 90 degree turn I find it sketchy sometimes because sometimes there cars hella on me and I’m down shifting to take the turn at a good speed but sometimes dosent work out so good
To explain whats going on, whenever you turn to a direction without leaning along the handlebars at low speed, the bikes center of mass is elevated due to you being ON the bike, and this causes the bike to lean into the opposite direction that you "attempt" to turn into, thus why its called counter steer, you shouldnt try to force this, just think about turning, and your brain will do it for you, just concentrate not to look like a moto gp driver and you will pull thru just fine ❤
I always heard about counter steering but never actually understood how to do it. Man, thanks a lot! Now I can practice it and learn when to do counter steering or normal.
So simple. Exactly what beginners need to know and not the fancy physics shit. Thank you!
@massimohack1367what relevance does that have
@massimohack1367never ever road before just got a GSXR 1000. Is this a good beginners bike.
To each their own. The idea of counter steering confused the hell out of me until I understood camber thrust

I finally understand it now, and I’ve ever found out that I was doing this without even knowing it was counter steering 😂
Wow, the best and simplest explanation of countersteering.
Now I understand!
Glad it was helpful!
Your instructions are very accurate and understandable. It's easy as one two three but need practice and experience
Instructions unclear! I'm on a tree send help
This is probably *the best* short video demonstrating counter steering - thank you for making it!
Thanks appreciate it. Glad it was helpful! Ride Safe.✌🏻
I found this out sub consciously on my surron, not really a proper motor bike but at 50km/h 30mph it feels natural
Almost learned about this the hard way on a 60 mile per hour curve the other day.
I've seen videos about turning and counter steering, but didn't quite know when to use each technique. This was very helpful l!
Great to hear!

But how it became 2nd nature in the first place??

How do I make my second nature though??
Also at higher speeds we're basically turning the bars too no? Just using a different method

Even tho I am a biker pro, this is very helpful (for beginners)
Simple and nice well explained
Thank you!
Welcome buddy. Glad it was helpful!
2nd one is just maneuvering
Thank you. Been looking for this explanation since forever.
No problem!
Easiest explanation that many people make more difficult when explaining counter steering
Counter steering. I'm not sure why it's used.
I usually counter steer on my bmx Cuz i ride really fast
Thank you for the simple and clear explanation. It helps a lot.
Perfect explanation! Thanks!
He finally showed me in a way I understand thanks bro
Very accurate and very cool when you let go with both hands 😊
This is the best explanation video seen in TH-cam

I was cornering forcing the handlebar and leaning too hard in
Found out myself doing 60mph and nearly ran off the road in the process.
Is this working for all bikes?
I just leaned 😂
Beautiful bike and awesome video. thanks man
Never pull always push 🫷
Actually u always countersteer even below 20 because your bike would tip over if I didn't
This is true, same works with E scooters or anything which is like bikes, dirt bikes or anything
Nice z750r ive got mine z750 white colour last year as first bike! Rocketship
You explained it very well ❤
Wrong. Countersteering happens every single time
does this happen with touring bikes aswell like harleys and stuff?
Yes. This applies to any bike.
Thanks ❤
Ima just do it the normal way
So push DOWN and not push FORWARD ?
Thanks
New level unlocked
That is pushing DOWN not left or right. Why everyone is not understanding it correctly.
When you push forward, are you pushing down towards the ground? Or twisting it forwards?
Thank you
Welcome!
So they do the same thing, which method is better in certain situations?
Bro I am getting more unsecure 😭😭

I think pushing is easier + weight distribution
But still idk how the pull technique
Why are you making this sound like cars
If you use your legs as well you can get the same effect
Isnt this basicalyy ''leaning right to go right'' wouldnt this explain it more intuitvly but am i missing smthing ?

At speeds above 20 do you have to use the counter steering or can the bike still be leaned while turning regularly?

How to push forward but I can see leaning motion on one side
Two wheeled vehicles really show how weird physics are. It seems so stupid steering right and the thing goes left, but thats just how it is.
I wish someone answer me right about pulling, is it pulling upward for counter steering??
Pulling backward, just little bit, just a second and than let the bike turn by it self, pushing is easier
What if you need to emergency swerve
by friends who ride for 10yrs say they donot countersteer
This dude fucking made it harder😂
I just do this intuitively
Nice bike bro
What is it? Kawasexy?
Name of the bike pls
I feel like at high speed its just feels right to lean rather than try to turn your wheels.
I agree, this guy doesn't know what he's talking about
yeah i get it but i don’t like it
Damn It only tale 30 seconds to learn how to in a motorcycle
