  • Sometimes fish in our aquariums need a place to hide and relax, especially if you keep a tank with aggressive fish. This video will show you how to create a very easy and inexpensive fish hotel to allow your fish to hide and rest.

    While the sandpaper is out taking off the rough edges, I would scuff the entire pipe. This would promote algae which help camo the pipe in the tank,... well if plants are used.

    Merry Christmas! I just watched your"get to know you" aquarium Co op video and I loved it. You seem very humble and I like that you are so passionate about fish. I learn alot from you and Cory. Keep up all the great work and I'll keep watching and learning! I hope to be as successful as you guys one day!

    💐 That’s a great idea for my spiky eels as well! They love hiding places. I have at the moment just roots, plants and tone tubes. I’m sure they will love it as well as my Rhinogobius („Gobies“). Probably something for Bettas as well. Thanks.

    I did something similar. I tied a small cave up high on my tank to help my small calico convict hide from my bigger Texas cichlid and slightly larger and established firemouth. It did wonders! She really thrived! Love this idea a lot

    Good idea on using suction cups. I’ve used pvc pipes and hung em up by packaging tape. And also used empty fish food containers as well but they float around. I show em on my channel. That a lot for the idea.

    Merry day after Xmas (I was good boy got some stuff from the Co-Op). Wish this idea would have worked for my big male super red plecos,ended up moving every thing around to create line of sight blocks. They say it’s better to give then receive but I’m not sure,I bought a couple nets from the Co-Op for the staff at my LFS and think I started a war. Gave them to the store at the beginning of December and stopped in a couple of times and it’s interesting to see who has hidden them to use that day.

    Good ideas, I have 2 that I rounded clear plexiglass to on the side that faces the aquarium wall, so I can see hiding fish thru the 1” strip of plexiglass. The fish don’t seem to mind the light and movement that they can see thru the plexiglass.

    I have a 75 gallon with 2 white parrot cichlids,a blood parrot, a green shoulder severum, and a fire mouth. The white parrots seem kind of dominant, and the rest of the fish are really skiddish when I walk by the tank. Any recommendations to make the rest of the fish more comfortable and less skiddish?

    Great idea! I'm going to be putting together a cichlid tank again next year. You talked about different glues for the abs. I've only ever used silicone (which as we know takes a while to cure) because I was concerned with chemicals leeching into the water. Obviously you have no problems with the ones you used. Any other glues that won't affect fish?

      I would use PVC glue and bond it together.

    QUESTION: I decided recently I want to make my dads old 75 gallon tank into a all male peacock cichlid tank. I currently live in an apartment so I’m not insanely rich at the moment especially since I’m in college. I was thinking of adding 10 to start from 3-4 inches and later adding 8 or so when I get the money. Will this be successful or should I go a different route?

    • @TazawaTanks
      @TazawaTanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, that could work. Maybe start with 8-10 spread out over two different weeks. From there, you can decide how many more to add. Maybe a total between 12-16 or so in a 75 would look good.

    @tazawatanks I currently have a 75 gallon with 2 blue acara, and 13 South Africans they are only 2-2 1/2” long currently and I have a 90 G setup for my 2 turtles but I’m getting a bigger home ready for them. How long can I leave my cichlids in my 75 G before I need to move them to my 90? Thank you! This channel has taught me soo much a beginner enthusiasts!

    • @TazawaTanks
      @TazawaTanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There isn't a big difference between a 75 and a standard 90 (besides 15 gallons of water for dilution). They have the same length and width, and only differ in height. I would just leave them in the 75. If your 90 gallon is a different dimension (like 60" wide rather than 48"), you may consider moving them when they get to the 4" length or so. Otherwise, I think they should all be just fine where they are. Thanks for watching, and happy to hear that this channel has helped!
