    Looking good! On the rare occasion when I have to fly with fish, I do almost the same thing, except I write the name of the fish on the bag as well as include a piece of styrofoam inside the bag with the name labeled, just in case the marker on the bag wears off. Thanks for sharing Zenzo and Dean!

    For the bags with corners, if you double bag, you can also turn the second bag 180 degrees, and the rubber band from the outside bag can square off the corners of the inside bag! Might save a few seconds per bag 😂

    I always double bag fish with the inner back upside down (rubber band side down) inside the outer bag that's right side up. It alleviates the corner issue as long as the fish aren't gonna be rolling around.

    Great video! I've been looking into flying with my betta when I move next year, but have heard horror stories about airlines not allowing them on the plane! One woman, I think in Cincinnati, had to leave her fish behind because the airline refused to allow it on the plane - "pet policy" says only cats and dogs.

    I've been enjoying your channel for about the last two weeks. I'm in Northeast Brazil, I don't know if shell dweller cichlids are legal here? I'll have to check if they're on the list.
    I go out from time to time collecting plants and fish here. We have a neat little livebearer called Poecilia vivipara (Peixe Guaru).
    Their color all depends on the place where I, and sometimes my buddy collect them. I found a soft water stream near my place that has some bright orange ones. They're one of my favorite little fish here.
    Anyway, keep the videos coming.

    Shipping fish isn't cheep but it isn't hard. Next day fish should still be fine in 3 or 4 or 7 days if you're doing it right. Practice by shipping fish to your own address. Just buy some guppies from PetSmart or something and bag them up and ship them to yourself. Heat or cold packs are almost always needed, styrofoam is a must whether it's summer or winter. Use at least 50% pure oxygen and you should be good to go..... get an oxygen tank! And fast them for at least 24 hours before they get bagged up so they don't poop too much in the bag during transit.
    I won an auction years ago on aquabid and I paid for next day shipping. It got lost and I got it 12 days later. The fish were fine. I get being hesitant about it. You don't want to sell your prized fish just to lose them all in the mail but if you're a seller looking to spread your fish further than your local areas then you should try out shipping fish. There is such a lack of LFS these days I feel like this is probably the future of the hobby.

    • @TazawaTanks

      I have shipped fish several times with varying success. For me, it isn’t worth the hassle and potential loss.

    • @MDestron2282
      @MDestron2282 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TazawaTanks I understand. I just wish more people were willing to ship. It seems to me that more and more a species or color-line is common in one part of America but is non existent in the rest because people won't ship.... I just want the hobby to survive. I'm 38 and it looks like the aquarium club that I've been a part of since I was 17 is dead... as well as most LFS... Almost all actually. I'm just trying to think about how this can all be saved.
      No pressure on you at all. I've just really been stressing out about where aquarium keeping is heading.

      I am not certain what you are referring to. Can you elaborate?
      If you are implying that I deleted someone's comment that had a link, then yes. I would do that for anyone that posts any link without clearing it with me. Any comment that has a link is automatically held for review by TH-cam before I even have a chance to read it (meaning it would not be visible to anyone but me).
      If you are implying that I don't support smaller creators, this is false. In fact, I often give one-on-one advice to smaller creators, as well as occasionally appear on their channel for streams/interviews. In fact, I have one coming up with a. smaller channel that only has around 400+ subscribers.
      Anyway, I would hardly refer to myself as famous, so maybe this has nothing to do with me. LOL!
