      @@kennywilliams4346 Who cares. Everyone in this race were on steroids. Like most 80s races. Mary was a doper who beat other dopers, she won fair and square, and I am not a Decker fan. Now some of the dumb individuals who say "Mary was clean and beat a bunch of dopers" are idiots. If anyone was clean of the top runners it was probably only Wendy Sly and maybe Dorio but none of the rest.

      @@ernesttubb As a 17 yr old boy I was watching Seb Coe and Cram and Ovett and Salazar and Aouita. Women’s events were an afterthought. That is until I turned 45 and discovered women’s pole vault, long jump, 400m hurdles 😂. Those events weren’t “stacked”back in the 80s like they are today

      @@kennywilliams4346 B**ls**t! Shame on you. It's well known that that test that you're referring to was a full 15 years after this occurred and Mary did eventually after several times of appeals was not found guilty of having taken steroids. And if anything and you want to point fingers you're clearly not up to date and knowledgeable on the state and Nationwide sponsored doping systems of many of the European block countries, specifically but not limited to East Germany and the Soviet Union. So if you want to choose your words wisely I wouldn't just pick a possible accidentally tainted sample that was taken by Mary slaney only once in a very long consistent and illustrious career rather than notoriously time and time again decades long circumstances of suspicions at which Eastern block women look like men which first mandated or made it mandatory that sex tests visual ones be given at European championships world championships and Olympic games and then the bar body genetic test and 68 up until the early ball late 90s or early 2000s. And furthermore we now know everything that East Germany did with regards to training with oral Toronto ball and they're brilliant but twisted medical doctor who figured out a way to make a synthetic testosterone that he could inject all of his athletes with right before they performed at Major meats that when broken down a metabolized did not metabolize into the actual drug it was. And that injection system was used from 74 through 1988. So really you want to call out Mary Decker for one issue I mean if there was a pattern if there was even a second accusation against Mary I would not respond in this manner towards you. But how dare you considering what we know about the press sisters of Soviet Union and the loads of East German women who have now life potentially life-threatening illnesses and issues because of years of forced state-sponsored doping systems

    I talked to Mary about a month after this race. She said the Russian woman was elbowing her constantly; you can see Mary turn to her in the final lap to tell her to move out of the way. Then the Russian fell flat on her face, and Mary went up to her afterward and said "you deserved that!" Don't know if she understood English or not but she did deserve that and so glad that Mary won.

    About Slaney - Decker...She was a super talent who I watched running in 1971 at the SovietUnion - USA Track and Field meeting what was held in Leningrad (I think). Mary was 15 years old and she won the 800m race.

    I don't know who was doped up and who wasn't. All I know is that distance runners need to be very light and smooth in their stride and Mary was both. She was the greatest runner of her time and one of the greatest of all times. And one more thing. I saw her race with Budd and Budd moved over slightly in front of Mary too soon after getting in front of her. Mary had nowhere to go. And anyone who thinks she was not in severe pain just doesn't deserve a response. I thought what happened was obvious. Mary was at the peak of her career and would have won the race easily. It is a hard thing to see your dream end that way knowing it was yours.

    I know what you mean. When Usain Bolt in 2011 at the World Championships jumped the gun in the 100m and than took of his countries singlet and threw it down on the track like garbage, my opinion of him forever changed. He disgraced himself and Jamaica with his display of poor and disgraceful sportsmanship.

    Well, no I don't agree. In Bolt's case he reacted in the instant of his disappointment. Sprinters live on a hair-trigger anyway. My feeling against Decker is that with time for further reflection she tried to justify herself further. Instead of reaching the right judgement, she preferred to wallow in a blubbering self pity, more akin to soap opera than a sporting dignity.

      @@mstrunn Mary didnt start running only after her parents divorce, maybe around age 10 or so???? 3 years later in a USSR vs USA dual meet she was our top distance female runner in pig tails at age 13 and got in a bit of an international incident unwittingly when the Lithuanian running for USSR tried to push Mary off the track........

  • @Kidsgrove49
    @Kidsgrove49 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    It wasn't just her initial reaction, she went on National TV and put up a similar blubbering self-centred exhibition. It took her about 20 years to admit she was equally to blame. She's now banned for cheating, but (guess what) she denies it. Somewhat of a speciality of hers - denial.

      coolvideos7777: You have a strange idea of what constitutes "average." Zola Budd (who you referred to as "average") won the most difficult to win race on the planet, the World Cross Country Championship TWICE, in 1985 and 86. In order to win that race one needs to beat the top 12 runners from all participating countries, whereas in the Olympics it's only the top 3 and they are divided into several races.
      Average MY ASS.
