    also, for those interested in SARC, during your pool week in boot camp they will ask whos a corpsman and who wants to be a SARC, theyll run a couple test with you. couple friends had to switch to the 800 recruit division which are the divisions that have all the SWCC, DIVER and SEAL candidates and their days are alot more strenuous than those not in 800. Also during HM A school, a program called SOCP started by Senior Chief Pell are for those going into special corpsman jobs such as DMT. SAR and SARC. You will attend SOCP PT instead of the normal PT. if SARC is what you want, you will be separated and held to a higher standard than everyone else ALWAYS.

      The training differences would be a cool video, but they are fundamentally different jobs. SARC's and 18D are team guys. They are embedded in a SOF team for the duration of their enlistment, and go through all of the training, deployments, and missions with their respective teams. PJ's generally stay with dedicated PJ units and act as QRF medical support. So it really comes down to if you would rather be a SOF shooter that has the rare chance to use his badass medic skills (SARC/18D), or a SOF medic that has the rare chance to use his badass shooter skills (PJ).

    SARC is the goal. I’m spending thousands on lawyers and countless hours on physical readiness even with the understanding that I might not get the opportunity because of my circumstances. I made a horrible mistake when I was in the Navy 7 years ago, so my ability to rejoin is nearly impossible. Plus the fact that I was already a corpsman and reservist means that if I am finally able to re-enlist I might not be needed. I saw the new prior service needs because of the COVID19 situation and I understand they will be taking more prior service sailors than before. Until my case is settled all I can do is keep preparing. When that door opens I’m planning on busting through it. Thanks for the videos. They keep me motivated and educated about the requirements. Keep up the good work.

      So leading up to Hell Week, they're weeding out people that don't want to be there. They're training people in a way to get rid of people not meeting the standards. Nothing wrong in that, mostly after hell week it's medical leaves for people afterwards because why leave after enduring all of that? I know you tried to be "witty" about your comment but it doesn't follow through with the appropriate information.

    • @LRRPFco52
      @LRRPFco52 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      The purpose of BUD/S and SEALs is to get enlisted men to join the Navy so they can use them where they really need them on ships doing critical sailor duties. It's a recruiting tool that has been told for decades that there's no such thing as bad advertising, until recently, when senior leadership had to draw the line at murdering fellow SOF personnel and then making attempts at hooking up with the victim's widow after fabricating the cause of death report, murdering civilians for sport, the decades-old narcotics abuse problems, killing a UK female hostage with frag grenades, leaving sensitive items all over the wake of their operations, killing coalition partner forces we're supposed to be working with, and having planned torture procedures that were used on captured EPWs.
      SOF Amphibious Recon Corpsmen are there to provide MTOE medical personnel coverage for small units within the USMC because the USMC isn't allowed to have medics for some reason. Force Recon and Recon Marine units have had them built into their unit structure for ages. I've worked with both and Force Recon medics were far more professional and very quiet. Not to say most SEALs run their mouths, but everybody has heard of SEALs for a reason. Practically nobody has heard of the SOF Corpsmen in the Navy who are part of Force and MARSOC.

    • @Shane67000
      @Shane67000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Don't get it mixed up, though. BRC is no joke. The attrition rate for recon marines in that course is roughly comparable to the attrition rate that SEALS go through in buds.

    • @joshualittle877
      @joshualittle877 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Osegis There are lots of people that wash out after hell week because its not the hardest part of the training by a long shot. Pool Comp at the end of second phase probably eliminates as many as hell week except of course there are already not that many left by that point. Dan Bizarien is a perfect example he made it trough He'll Week twice and got booted permanently at the end of 3rd Phase for a safety violation on the range during land warfare training. While this portion of training isn't particularly physically difficult live fire Close Quarters Battle is very meticulous, stressful and dangerous. You shoot 12-16 hrs a day, 7 days a week for months and one tiny mistake can get someone killed so its a zero Toblerone enviornment and people screw up and are booted from the program.

      An SF SCUBA, Scout Swimmer, or Water Infil ODA would have a lot of similarities and training. It's better to understand the unit structures and know that SOF Corpsmen are embedded combat medic support personnel for certain units. Historically, this was Force Recon. MARSOC has been added to that since it was stood up.

      You’ll screen in San Antonio for SARC your contract after six weeks of psts. Just heads up you’re tied to your ATF contract so if you double tap a written test or fail your PSTs you’ll re-rate and lose your contract all together.

      Jackson Hughes if an ATF student fails a test back to back he/she will be dropped from the program. It’s not hard if you study and keep your head on straight but if you slack off physically or academically you’ll be reassigned to a new rate. It’s worth it tho. If you do not get HM-ATF off the street you may be allowed to screen depending on slots available but it’s not guaranteed. If you don’t ship with an ATF You won’t get a bonus or automatic E4 after your first NEC (dive school, Air Crew School or FMTB) which is a big deal as a HM. If you want to do ATF get that contract from the start. Get above the minimums for the PST before you ship and start studying basic physiology. Good luck.

Much of a sailor’s luck in any Special program is based on who in charge likes you & wants you to succeed, the other is your will & determination & being at the right place & right time. Recon Corpsmen were of the "home grown" variety prior to the SARC pipeline. A guy would get orders to Field Medical school, now called FMTB. Then they would serve within some unit of the Marine Corps, OR they might volunteer right away for Recon. The screening for Recon Corpsmen wasn't always standardized back in the day. They might do one thing on the east coast and another on the west. Then, if they passed the Corpsmen would learn on the job and pick up schools along the way. Dive, jump, goat lab, etc.... But, even after they picked up new NEC's they were still Navy Corpsmen and part of (and proud to be) the U.S. Navy Hospital Corps.

    Much of the attrition problem in the Specwar program is due to accepting recruits straight out of bootcamp. They are immature & inexperienced. In the past, you had to go to the fleet and be at least an E-5. This way you got a seasoned sailor in the program. It is true though, the bureaucracy is maddening and discourages a lot of good candidates. If you go the Specwar route, you might as well make it a career because the training is endless. The rewards come after you leave (if you’re not already physically & mentally exhausted) and join private corporations in which case you will eventually cross paths with Specwar again.

    Recommending someone to go SEALs as a civilian is terrible advice. You would know this if you ever been out to the fleet. The Navy doesn't have a "shoot for the stars, land on the moon" umbrella like the Marines and Army have. If you enlist in the Navy with a BUDs contract and god forbid you twist your ankle or receive an injury that disqualifies, you get sent straight to the fleet to finish out your enlistment. You are at the mercy of the detailers that will put you into a rate (sometimes undesignated) that is open. If you aren't lucky to get Master at Arms, then you will be doing deck work for the rest of your two years in. You should work your way up first with the Navy (MA or Corpsman rating)

    • @GeneralDischarge
      @GeneralDischarge  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Joining with a rate that may be closed out from converting into the SO rating for their contract leaves you with zero opportunity to attend training. If you want a guaranteed shot at BUDS, it is best to join as a civilian.

      rambo chavarria I did my time there. It’s a great place to learn the fundamentals of fighting. Which you need no matter where you end up. The marine infantry excels in the fundamentals. Something other branches think they do. Especially snob units like the ranger regiment and seals. But with all that being said, you’re not going to too many schools. Try out for the STA platoon. It is the scout sniper platoon. You will get a good education there. Semper Fi
