  • I really disliked Halloween Ends. I loved Halloween 1978 (which I thought it came out in 79 but I guess it didn't) 2018 and Kills, but Halloween Ends was not for me. #halloween #halloweenends #moviereview

Micheal in Halloween Kill: *demolishes an angry mob like an absolute giga chad*
Micheal in Halloween Ends: *gets beaten by both a teen that got bullied by band geeks and also a 70+ year old Laurie Strode all because he hasn’t killed anyone during the time-skip, which made him “weaker”*
I guess we owe Revenge, Curse, Ressurection, and RZ Halloween 2 a apology as at least they actually had Micheal as a character instead of a cameo 💀

What really frustrates me, is think about this - They actually said in the movie that sometimes he would drag people into the sewer and kill them. So he still got a few kills in between movies. Also, even if the explanation is that he needs to kill to sustain his strength, why did he come out of a 40-year hiatus at the beginning of Halloween 2018 able to tank through everybody, get hit by cars and get back up again, and survive a house that's burning down just to take out everyone in kills? It just makes no sense and it's very obvious they didn't plan this direction at all earlier on and just didn't know how to end the series. I left the movie very angry and disappointed, and I probably was too invested in the story about a guy who goes around in a Halloween mask killing people, but you know these movies were very special to me and even kills is and so it felt like they really just didn't care about the movies nearly as much as people like you and I do. I guarantee our conversation here puts more thought into Michael Myers lore than the entire time they spent writing Ends.

And the added insult to injury is the appallingly dishonest marketing. The movie is called Halloween Ends. Michael Myers and Laurie Strode feature front and centre on the posters. All the marketing, the trailers, even Jamie Lee Curtis' social media were pushing this as the big showdown, the big final fight. You can't blame people for being mad at not getting what was explicitly being sold to them.

It was actually a fine movie and very original. The problem is just that though...it has the halloween title with very high expectations for what they advertised as it being the final showdown. They slap a different name on and make Michael someone else as the mystery boogeyman and it definitely would've been praised. The stakes and expectations were just to high to be "divisive" on a finale.

2018 is overrated. Especially when fans are riding the hype and believing the tagline that it's the best one since the original. Even better than the original Halloween II. I rank it somewhere after Halloween 4. Equal to Rob Zombies first Halloween. That was big and a lot of people liked it too, just like H20 it was promoted as the best one since II it was a success and critically acclaimed but years later it's one of the least talked about Halloween's and isn't perfect neither. It uses the same exact music in Scream, he's wearing 3 obviously different masks. Him holding his hand out was almost as dumb as him shedding a tear in 5. He seemed weaker in H20 than in the 4 movies before it. Resurrection Myers was better but all people remember about the movie is Busta Rhymes

I agree with what Jeremy Jahns said that Halloween ends should’ve been the 2018 film. It has a perfect ending with him burning in the house, Laurie has closure with the man who killed her friends and traumatized her. Kills was fun but given that it ends on a cliffhanger and this is meant to be the “satisfactory conclusion” to the series, 2018 is my Halloween ends

Kills was a lot of fun actually. And they DID have an entire different script before the shutdowns for the third film. They were originally going to film Kills and Ends back to back and they were all going to take place in the same night. Then the shutdowns happened and everybody had too much damn time on their hands... so we ended up with this horse shit. The original ending of Kills was Laurie calling Karen's phone from the hospital only for Michael to pick it up and just breathe... then Laurie says "I'm coming for you Michael". It was SUPPOSED to pick up from right there. But, since they decided to re-write the entire movie so the theatrical version of Kills just ends right after Michael killed Karen. So stupid. Ends COULD have been like H20 but on steroids with Laurie hunting Michael down but nooooope. And their fight could have been so much more believable because he DID sustain damage whether or not he was totally human. Ends made me enjoy Kills less, which is why I am mad that the movie even exists.

This was David Gordon Green SLAPPING Halloween fans in the face! Michael & Laurie’s conclusion seemed like such an afterthought. They didn’t even have Laurie react with a facial expression when she realized someone else was in the house after Allyson left. And I can’t believe how underused both Frank and Lindsey were, especially her since she’s the original actress and character from 1978. I was so hoping for a huge, MASSIVE, long chase & fight scene with Michael vs. Laurie, Lindsey and Allyson at the end throughout the whole house AND that abandoned house next door with all three women surviving. I think it would have been a very powerful ending for the three of them considering how Michael impacted each of their lives.

So he gets 10% of the screen time in Halloween Ends (2022) at a runtime of 111 min.; and 11% of the screen time in Halloween (1978) with a runtime of 91 min.

If anything, I was confirming that ENDS not only mishandles Myers but also wastes the minutes that he had on screen…I was just compelled to point out the factual inaccuracy. If a legitimate analysis is to be made regarding the quality of the film and the complete misunderstanding of the Michael Myers character, then Myers screen time should not be a point of reference. I hated this movie. Left the theater wanting a refund after loving 2018 and Kills. The plot just doesn't do it for me and the lack of Michael and botching of his character pissed me off the most. It's the finale, the end of laurie and michael's story, why is the main villain not here?
I'm no famous professional director or screen writer but here's what i personally wanted from this.
Have everything play out the same until the moment that Corey meets Michael. Michael is weakened and doesn't have the energy to kill Corey due to his wounds so Corey escapes.
Corey starts to overthink and starts planning in his head. He knows that it was Michael Myers in there and he is weak but he remembers how monsterous he is. If he kills him, he would be redeemed in the eyes of the town and be a hero. There is also the chance it does nothing and he will still be ridiculed for his past even after killing Myers or he could be killed the same as anyone else who tried to take action against the shape. It drives him crazy and makes him jumpy and distant knowing he has a big choice to change his life but is uncertain what to do.
He goes to kill him but Michael doesn't put up any fight. Right before he takes the shot, the cop who thinks he is alyson's bf comes in to settle the score for what happened at the diner. As he overpowers Corey, Michael saves him and kills him. Corey sees this and has a new plan. Thinking nothing would change, he instead seeks revenge and since Michael saved him, he thinks he can gain his friendship and control him to kill for him. This leads to him visiting Alyson at work alot and stealing medical supplies from the hospital.
Over time he heals Michael and his relationship with Alyson continues to grow suspicious instead of loving. Corey starts luring his abusers and bullies to Michael who then kills them one by one, somehow growing his strength back. This success makes Corey grow somewhat of a god complex which Laurie sees so she confronts him and this adds her onto his hit list. He gives a proposition to Michael that he will lead him to Laurie, knowing he wouldn't be able to lure her to the pipe, and hearing Laurie Strode's name, something clicks in Michael's head. He finds the strength to exit the pipe and Corey is ecstatic.
Michael goes on a killing spree with Corey through Haddonfield again in search of Laurie who is planning to go after Alyson who wants to leave town with Corey. Corey also feeds Michael false info to continue killing those who he hates like the radio guy and his mother while on the search. Alyson finds Corey and confronts him on why he is acting even more strange than before and Corey spills the beans and tells Alyson who in shock tries to get away. Corey knowing this could ruin his plans kidnaps Alyson and uses her to lure Laurie to a trap where Michael will be able to corner her.
Laurie confronts Corey at the kid he killed's old house and explains he sees no problem killing those who wronged him and that they were no better than him for their actions. He enjoyed killing the kid and everyonr else. They ruined his life so he will take theirs. Laurie states he is just as evil as Michael. After a struggle, Michael shows up as Laurie is injured and Corey in a high on power tries ordering him to kill her. He instead kills Corey for Michael is smart. He took an easy kill on the cop and after seeing Corey bring him supplies, be goes with it so he could USE Corey to aid him while he was weak by bringing in victims and giving him medical aid. All so he could get well enough to finally go back after Laurie to settle the score.
This leads into a huge brawl between Michael and Laurie, both well beyond their primes. After a car chase and struggle similar to halloween 4, it leads to the radio station where police are investigating a previous murder that michael and corey committed. She tries to use the radio to alert everyone in town Michael is back but he slaughters the police in the area and attacks, causing the station to catch on fire. This leads to the roof for the final battle. Laurie is almost killed but Alyson with a vengeance manages to pummel the weakened Michael badly with a pipe for taking everything she cared about from her parents and life to the boy she loved. Laurie takes this advantage and stabs him repeatedly until his hand is severed from the blows. With both of these people wailing on him, Laurie takes his mask and we see his face. He is broken and defeated from the fight in his weakened state and without his mask just a person. Michael falls unconscious and as Alyson goes go finsih the job, Laurie stops her and says they need to make a statement.
Everyone from around town comes down to the station after Laurie contacts Barker who I still alive after being on another murder scene and he spreads the word. The citizens then approach where they see Michael tied to the radio tower in chains in the form of a crucifixion as it burns. They all watch as the evil of Haddonfield burns on the tower and as Laurie watches Michael look at her one final time with his evil eyes before the inferno takes him, she throws the mask in as well destroying the legend that was Michael Myers.
Just my idea, not everyone's cup of tea but this is what I wanted and was expecting. I am glad some people did like the movie though. .

To put it bluntly: Blumhouse Productions, David Gorden Green, Danny McBride, Chris Bernier and Paul Brad Logan have took a huge dump on the Halloween Franchise for the fourth time with Halloween Ends. I'm really not sure if this Franchise can recover from this disaster again.
The makers of this film put Friday the 13th Part 5: A New Beginning (1985), Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday (1993), A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985) and Christine (1983) in a blender. Mixed those four films together with the worst elements of Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) and Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995). Thrown in a dash of Halloween H20 (1998) and voilà!
The result is Halloween Ends and it's gloriously awful.
And yet this new Halloween Trilogy got off to a good start with Halloween (2018). Yes, it stumbled with Halloween Kills (2021), but Halloween Kills was just a bridge movie in this trilogy. That had been a big problem.
Halloween Ends isn't just a big slap in the face for these two movies, oh no!
This film is a huge slap in the face to the entire Halloween Franchise. It doesn't feel like a Halloween Movie at all! It's just boring, frustrating and disappointing. So many new characters are introduced in this one. All have zero personality, are simply one dimensional and a bunch of assholes. I didn't like the Corey storyline at all. It had ZERO Pay off and was just pointless!
Allyson is all over the place in this film. Her decisions made no sense and were completely contradictable to her character in comparison to the previous two films. Not to mention how annoying and unlikable she became in Ends. She really reminded me of Scout Taylor-Compton's Laurie Strode from Rob Zombie's Halloween 2.
Michael Myers himself (when he appeared) seemed bored, disinterested and tired. To add insult to injury, he was completely disrespected in this movie. You really want me to believe that some 24 years old douchebag who was bullied and beaten by some high school bullies, can beat the f*cking Michael Myers and steal his mask? Are you serious with this bullshit?!
Heck, when this movie FINALLY decided to be a Halloween Movie, I was about to walk out of the theater.
Not even the Kills are good in this movie imo. How can you screw up so much with something so simple!
Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode is the only shining light in this awful film. She's the only thing stopping me from giving this movie 0/5 stars.
If David Gorden Green really wanted to "Season of the Witch" the Franchise then he should have NOT bring Laurie and Michael back in Kills and Ends. He had the opportunity to give those characters a nice send-off in 2018 but he didn't do it. He is a hack! I have absolutely no interest now in his Exorcist Reboot Trilogy. His Halloween Trilogy is so inconsistent. Like he and Danny McBride can't decide whether or not Michael Myers is a normal human being or a supernatural entity. In Kills, Laurie said and I quote: "I always thought Michael Myers was flesh and blood, just like you and me, but a mortal man could not have survived, what he's lived through." Then in Ends she says and I quote: "I thought maybe you were the boogeyman. No, you're just a man [...]."
Is he supernatural or not? David Gorden Green and Danny McBride be like: "Who knows, who cares!"
Halloween Ends (2022) gets 1/5 stars from me. Worst movie of 2022 so far for me.
I can deal with a badly made movie that has bad writing and bad acting as long as it's still entertaining. The worst thing a movie can do to me is if it bores me and waste my time.
Halloween Ends did that to me.
I have never left the cinema so speechless, confused and angry at the same time.
It's by far the worst movie in the Halloween Franchise. Yes, it's WORSE than Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989), Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995), Halloween: Resurrection (2002), Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 (2009) and Halloween Kills (2021).
I'm dead serious! I would rather rewatch those movies than this piece of shit ever again because at very least those movies felt like actual Halloween Movies to me, even so they suck.
    I HATE Halloween Ends.
After this travesty, whatever other studio who will own the rights to this Franchise should really just do Halloween Anthology Movies.
Do what John Carpenter and Debra Hill envisioned for this Franchise to become after Halloween II (1981). It failed with Season of the Witch in 1982 but now it is the right time to do that in my opinion.
Michael Myers character is so played-out at this point that I don't think a new Reboot with him will be any successful, especially without Jamie Lee Curtis.
Even if they will bring back Danielle Harris as Jamie Lloyd and make a direct Sequel to Halloween 4 and delete Halloween 5 and 6 from the timeline, so what? They gonna f*ck it up again!
They do it everytime! Everytime they made a decent or a good Sequel to the 1978 Original or 1981 Halloween II, they immediately do a Sequel/Sequels that ruins everything.
They did it with Halloween 4 which was ruined by Halloween 5 and 6. Then with H20 which was ruined by Resurrection and now with Halloween (2018) which is ruined by Kills and Ends.
This makes 3 strikes now. You're out!
As far as I'm concerned the Story of Michael Myers ended with Halloween II (1981). Michael Myers died in that movie with Dr. Loomis who sacrificed his life and died in a blaze of glory.

Well said bro I agree 100 percent with everything you said about this movie. Definitely the worse Halloween film ever made, and that’s saying a lot considering we have dumpster fires like part 5 and Resurrection.
I literally fell asleep halfway through with Ends. The Corey storyline was boring and I don’t see the point of focusing so much on him just to have him killed in a generic way by Michael in one of his rare appearances on screen. That made no sense to me.
Michael’s death was very anti climatic too. They should’ve ended the franchise at the end of ‘18 when he was burning in the basement cellar. Having him come back as an unstoppable beast in Kills then becoming a weak, fragile man in Ends is ridiculous.
      Fuck Ends.

I am also very disappointed in the film and most of all in Jamie Lee Curtis. I hope it's a flop and it really doesn't have much to do with the Michael Myers cult. I grew up watching the movies and I hate this Halloween Ends script. I compare it to Terminator and I would prefer the actress to Jamie Lee Curtis because she appreciates the role of the cult Terminator more. I know the interviews of both actresses and was also initially a fan of Jamie Lee Curtis but she often has something to criticize and I think she worked a lot on this script and I'm angry because Michael Myers wasn't the main character but Jamie Lee Curtis and She didn't like the acting role in the first Halloween film and even in Halloween 20 years later she felt fooled that the films continued and she killed the wrong person but she did it for money and I would have preferred she had gotten out before but she's really a good actress. I'm for Michael Myers and it give a Petition for a Halloween ends reshoot.

Btw, I was mostly indifferent about Kills until the end when Michael hulks up and unceremoniously dispatches legacy characters. That’s when I was deeply offended (as a fan of 40 years going back to the first movie). It’s truly depressing and baffling how progressively worse and worse this trilogy got.

  • @SamM6599

Literally only a few great scenes in this movie. The intro, when Corey goes into the sewer the first time, the "Scarecrow" mask scene, Corey's rampage through town, and the ending. On it's own, I liked the ending. The problem is the lead up to it. The majority of the hour and 30 minutes you have to wait until you get to the ending just make it worse. Like, I love the idea of Laurie finally getting the best of Michael on her own. Pinning him down with his own knife, as well as a knife of her own, then dropping the fridge on him to further pin him down, then slitting his wrist and his throat, then proving to everyone he's finally dead by parading him through town, and throwing him in a woodchipper. I think that ending would have been GREAT if they had EARNED it! But Ends did NOT earn that ending. It felt like another bridge movie like Kills, except this had an abrupt ending that ensures a fourth movie will not happen (or fifth movie, if you're talking about the whole timeline, not just the 3 new ones). There are good ideas in this, like Michael transferring the evil to Corey, and if THAT made him weak, I could maybe buy it, but they need to show that happen first. And they didn't. He and Corey team up to kill a couple of people, and then he's somehow even weaker. Like, sure, Corey kicks his ass because he's weaker, BUT he's somehow strong enough that he manages to nearly kill Laurie in the end anyway? And she's only saved by Allyson coming in and breaking the arm Michael is using to choke Laurie. This movie could have worked if given another hour of runtime, but they chopped it into an hour 50. They need to do a Snyder Cut-type of edit of this film. Go back, do some re-shoots, add in a BUNCH of extra content, and give us the Halloween finale we deserve. Because this was an absolute trainwreck. I walked out somewhat satisfied, but after coming home and thinking about it, I started to realize how bad it was. And then I thought maybe I'm crazy, but nope. Everyone else hated it too. So yeah, they need to pull a Snyder Cut and do some major re-shoots. Especially before something happens to the main cast, given how old a lot of them are.

From little details such as the events of this film taking place years later, whereas the other two films were about the same night. Why mm is my favorite horror villain is because I find him the most compellingly scary, at least conceptually. The shape is haunting because it has no motive; it is evil unfiltered and pure. It's that lack of motive that makes him almost supernatural, as if something not of this world broke into our reality on Halloween and chose an innocent child as a vessel. Simply the blackest eyes. For me, that's who Michael myers really is, and that's when his lore is at its' peak imo.
He's not a mentally challenged momma's boy like Jason. He's not a perv after his own desires like Freddy. He's not inspired by scary movies like Ghostface. Etc, etc.
But in this movie, the babysitter is full of motives. His obvious motives made his victims all the more obvious and mundane. This could've been an interesting movie if it had nothing to do with the Halloween franchise.
That's just one major problem I have with this film as part of the Halloween franchise. I don't have the number of texts to type all the other ones 😅

It ultimately didn’t feel that way at all. I think this movie will be fine if it’s viewed as a spinoff type movie. Not connected to The 3 before it.

For me personally this is how I feel about the movie if you take it as its own thing as a Halloween anthology film that isn’t about Michael Myers and is more so about the shape of evil living on I actually can really enjoy it. I really like the Corey Cunningham character and some of the themes they were trying to explore and I liked how Laurie was portrayed in this film as someone who was trying to move on from all of her past with Michael Myers. However that’s not what this movie was supposed to be this was supposed to be the end of the Halloween franchise the end of Michael and Laurie‘s story and that is just not with this movie is. So for me as a standalone Halloween movie it’s pretty good but as a conclusion to the franchise it’s pretty bad.

The whole idea of Michael transferring his power & evil to someone else is an interesting idea, it just doesn't work for the final movie & I'll even go one further with my next point.
It feels like they switched the movies. Like after 2018's if you took the plots of Ends & Kills and switched them it would make so much more sense: After 2018 Michael goes into hiding gravely injured after being burned alive, Kills could've used the same plot Ends does with Michael transferring his power to Cory before ultimately killing him & restoring himself to full strength and then still kills Tommy & Karen at the end, now he's fully powered up for Ends and goes on the mass killing spree that we saw in Kills only the mob assault does soften him up for Laurie & Allyson to deliver the final blows like they do in Ends & you still do the bit where you crush him in the industrial shredder & with Laurie's final line about how evil never dies & it only takes another shape showing that she kept his mask leaving the audience to wonder if Laurie has now been corrupted (if you have to tease a possible sequel or followup that would at least be somewhat new)

A second coming of Michael Myers and the evil he represents in Cory, and someone impersonating Jason Voorhees for personal reasons in Roy Burns. Both were interesting ideas, but they were engineered from a faulty FNAF animatronic that used a shit covered toilet.

This was written so poorly , it did not pull me into the story. Had no tension/stakes or horror energy to it at all. Karen was mentioned as an after thought, Lindsey Wallace character as a tarot reader was wasted in a 1 minuete scene. Michael is built up since the first movie to have supernatural abilites and this movie it hints at it with no explanation for Michael being a weak old man. Micheal isn't intimidating to the audience or Corey Cunningham he gets bullied by him... I could go on and on, I'm just so disappointed and dissatisfied. Your main star should never be sidelined like that.

Honestly I never really liked Michael Meyers. I like the first 2 movies and h20. I like season of the witch a lot too even though Michael isn’t there. I just felt Michael never had Jason’s charm. Freddy and pinhead have fun lines that make the characters charismatic. The thing is that Jason has almost all bad movies that suck, but they are fun and enjoyable with campiness and goofyness.

Usually, I like a lot of movies, even some that are considered bad by most. If it’s fun enough or just plain stupid enough, I’ll probably like it to some extent.
    But not this movie.
I watched it with my sister, her boyfriend, and his father. When it ended, we all felt the same about it.
    It was garbage.
This movie has to be one of, if not the worst horror movies I have ever seen. It’s pointless, rage inducing, and worst of all, boring as sin.
And this is coming from someone who somewhat enjoyed brightburn.
This movie has killed any excitement or joy I feel whenever I hear about this franchise. That may never recover.

Someone could still cap this timeline properly if the next team of filmmakers offered JLC her biggest paycheck yet, brought michael back to his full powers, and pitted them against each other. That would be a huge hit. I wouldnt even mind if they had to replace JLC in order to do it. I'm thinking that maybe Helen Hunt could do the role justice. Any ideas of a dream director for Halloween 14?

The thing I liked about the Original, H2, 2018, and Kills was that Michael was ambiguously superhuman, but not blatantly demonic. He was just inhuman enough to be terrifying. The Thorn Trilogy made him far too supernatural, and Ends did the opposite, remove his power. He's not this crazy demon like in 4-6, but he's definitely not "just a dude" either. He's a nigh-invincible powerhouse but he's also still a man. Thorn wanted to make him this Freddy Krueger or It type character while Ends is like a worse version of Ghostface. Like Jay mentioned, he's almost a more well done version of Jason Vorhees, just less shlocky.

    • @Nick-up5wv
      @Nick-up5wv ปีที่แล้ว +1

My deal with Michael is he's BOTH. What I mean is he IS an ordinary man; until he puts the mask on. Remember in Kills when he was unmasked he just stood there? He was almost in a state of shock; like as a child, until he put his mask on. Than he became an unstoppable killing machine. Freddy, Jason, Chucky, are all supernatural. Michael is like a competent Ghost Face. He's an ordinary man, but BELIEVES he's supernatural when he dons the mask. Basically he CAN be killed like an ordinary man, but is SO filled with intense anger and hatred that he's seemingly invincible. He's like Kane, Mankind, Abyss, the FIEND, etc. from WWE. He's a man in a mask, but wearing it and preying on his victims fears and doubts makes him unkillable. Also he's a serial killer, but also mentally disturbed and when people who are mentally disturbed have their moments they can endure high levels of pain and have 3 times the amount of strength than normal people. Michael is like a modern day Lenny from of Mice and Men or Frankenstein; which, BTW, Michael should have NEVER killed that young kid in Halloween 2018. Michael himself is child like. Whatever. Hollywood sucks and Jamie Lee Curtis should have NEVER put her name on this crap.

I’ve seen quite a few people say it and I agree with the fact that this is a good movie. However, it made no sense to do this movie as the final film of a trilogy that I for the most part really enjoyed. Halloween and Kills are movies that I genuinely love and I rewatch them constantly. But the way Ends was executed, this trilogy is not gonna flow very well. And as much as I like the ending, there was no build up to it, because it focused so much on this love story, which by the way, was completely absent from any marketing of this movie. It seemed like David Gordon Green wanted to make his own movie, but also wanted to please Halloween fans. The problem is, the movie becomes very messy with the approach that he took. Not to mention this movie’s pacing is easily the worst of the three. I understand what the director was going for and it’s a movie I like, but I really feel the direction they chose to go with this movie doesn’t make sense as the concluding chapter of this trilogy.
