      So many fans of sports don’t understand how widely popular PEDs are in ALL SPORTS. Especially in track and fields because it doesn’t rely on other attributes like quick in game decisions making, etc, so the athletic attributes are even more important. Using PEDs or not is the difference between consistent podium finishes and not even in the final rounds. Why would people not use them?

      Compared to other major sports yes but if you can market yourself well you can make a decent living being a lower level international athlete. For example British sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey who's greatest individual accomplishment is a European Championship bronze medal in the 100m has a reported net worth of around $5m. It's not a lot compared to most NFL/NBA players but it's far from broke. I've trained with a few pro track and field athletes and you'd be surprised how much free stuff you can get if you acquire the right sponsors including clothing, nutrition, supplements, training and recovery equipment, even cars and houses and the list goes on. However, most athletes do struggle to get funding and sponsors are hard to come by for most athletes who don't have large social media followings or good looks that can be used in marketing for said sponsors.

      This is a fact. There was a guy on my track team what was never going to win a bronze let alone a gold or silver or even make it to the Olympic or Championship finals with his personal best of 10.23. However, he was getting 5K for every track meet he ran in, indoors and outdoors. He ran at least 20 meets per year & he did this for about 6 years. Do the math. Let's just say he wasn't starving.

    Although your points have merrit, one factor to consider is that the title of being an Olympian opens so many doors for you in so many area of life. It could be the factor that gets you chosen over other applicant for your dream job because the company firstly sees that you have the work ethic to do great and also they may be enticed by the idea of having an Olympian in their ranks. Being in the sport we see all the bs involved but to outsiders you are seen as a real life anime character if you have the title of Olympian especially in track.

    • @Thermolizer
      @Thermolizer หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @TheErinBrownTV The average NFL career is 2/3 years. The average NBA career is 4/5 years. Most of them have to get a job/work after retirement. Even some the most successful sports stars who had long careers end up commentating/ coaching/ acting/ starting businesses etc. Life gets depressing when you're not doing something productive with your time. Most people who live happily into their 80s+ are still doing some form of work to keep them busy. The idea of being an athlete for 10 years then spending the rest of your life on the beach/ relaxing is unrealistic for 99% of athletes regardless of the sport.

Next, NBA/NFL PLAYERS get enough money to start a business and buy assets so they HAVE MORE OPTIONS and can avoid 9-5s, while MOST track OLYMPIANS is in debt and will get WORK easier but FOR SOMEONE ELSE (9-5 typically) until they can get out of debt and be able to purchase assets. Damn you even talk about the PEDs so publicly. A lot of fans are so blind to this shit. Of course they use it, it's literally the difference between getting on the podium and not even qualifying for the final round. Think about this, if the PEDs give an athlete just a 2-3% boost, it's literally the difference between consistently winning the gold and consistently outside the top 3. And that's the difference between a houehold name (if your event is popular enough) and getting real money in sponsorships and not getting much. The temptation is huge!

The difference of using PEDs discretely (having chemists/doctors to work around drug tests) and not using at all is the difference between consistent podium finishes and not getting into final rounds, also the difference between real sponsorship money and not getting paid. The incentive to cheat is great. And when in history, given the opportunity to cheat and get better financial outcomes to this magnitude, have people consistently chosen not to?

    You have to take things people say with a grain of salt and consider the source. If Alyson Felix or Tyson Gay made this video I’d trust them because they are athletes that compete at the highest level. They can discuss contracts and endorsements. They can discuss drug testing. They can discuss logistics. Remember folk consider the source.

    Sorry mate but you are no where good enough to get to the Olympics! What exactly are your best times because if it is around 10.1 for 100m , you'll never make it.
    Yes, you are correct that the Olympic sport of Track and Field is NOT the one to get into if your goal is to make money. Other truly professional sports pay far higher, if you are good enough. It just doesn't have the massive fan base of the top sports. Football (Soccer) world-wide, American Football, USA Baseball, Basketball world-wide. Sports promotors in USA (plus Colleges) have tried very hard to promote Indoor Athletics but the rest of the world doesn't take it seriously, so it hasn't caught on.
    Oh some of those sports you mentioned are only really USA sports. World Series doesn't have dozens of other Countries competing: just USA. (Baseball, American Football)
    Please do a correct deep dive into Costs etc of holding the Olympics. Most Countries run it as a huge loss! Building all those huge stadiums costs a fortune. Only if the stadiums are already existing and can be easily adapted, can they make ends meet. I've been to a few Olympics (sadly, not as an athlete. Wasn't good enough) But I've toured Countries competing. Yes, we pay for our own travel/training/gear etc except sportswear companies do provide incentives. Again, if you are good enough.
    The USA runs a semi-pro College system that NO other Countries offer. (ie Universities world wide do NOT offer Sports scholorships: only USA does. Universities are for academic study not playing games)
    Sorry but you have a very misunderstood understanding of top athletics/athletes. Particularly with PED's. Eventually they get found out. But yes, huge coverups have taken place at top levels re State funded drug program in USSR/Russia and what was East Germany and also for a while, China.
    But average runners like yourself wouldn't get access to those specialist drugs. That has to come from drug labs sponsored by national associations and you wouldn't qualify. Some people will always attempt to cheat.

The PEDs literally can make the difference between a world record setter and someone not even in the final round. The incentive to cheat is huge. Do you also believe politicians work for the people and HR are there to protect the employees? Why would athletes have a higher moral ground than those people/organizations? lol it’s just human nature.

Only ran seriously for 9 months & reflecting back, I wish I trained with a coach bc I would have gotten the needed attention to get to that world class level. Either way, I'm rooting for you. Get the best coaching possible bc it can help you get down to that 9.7-9.6 level that you'll need to medal these days. I know you can do it. Now make it happen!
