That was when there were some 30000 followers here. This channel is not only giving advice but inspires obviously not only the two of us to jump off the "higher, stronger, faster elbow- train" but brought me to overthink my own place in life and the rat race around me. I just dug several old axe heads out from under the house this morning. Mainly inspired by some Buckin videos I watched late last night. Your enthusiasm is inspiring Buckin. Those old heads has sat in the damp under there for the last 5 or 6 years. I spent the morning cleaning them up. It was work I had no appetite for before but with all this lockdown time on my hands I got some wind in my sails suddenly. Very satisfying to see the crust of rust gone and the original steel showing again.

When wood working, finishing, I use some ultra fine steel wool to knock does any raised grains, then give the piece another coating of oil wait 24hrs, and with a fresh coat of oil I burnish with a piece of wool strapping, this not only give a “glass” like finish, but also helps protect the wood by sealing the grains, I don’t use wax on any handles of tools that I or someone else will swing, because wax and moisture from ( sweat, rain, snow) creates a slick surface, and promotes loss of grip.

So I said I would split some Iron Bark for Him the Axe was just bouncing of it He was laughing at Me said You are hopeless after 2 hours He said go home. Back up there the next day for round two He said use the block splitter out it come what a difference that thing made I said why did you not bring that out yesterday he laughed I wanted to see you have trouble We live in a small town of Maleny on the Sunshine Coast QLD Australia a old timber town. I use a firewood edge here in West Kentucky. Hickory and perssimon handles. Love hand splitting wood and running the axes! BBR the toughest of all wood here is hackberry. Dry or green it's the hardest to work with!! New subs Welcome to the Chanel and jump right in and enjoy!!

Yes sir, my 1937 Sager Chemical double is off center one bit vs the other. I think they warp slightly during tempering and quenching.
