HI Guys, George here. I just set a plumb pauling axe on a new (old) hickory handle. The handle is special to me because a friends Mom had it in her garage before she died and she was a sweet sweet soul of a Lady. So today, I was at my friends house, and mentioned I was looking for a good axe handle...he said " I've got one out in the shed..." The axe head is my favorite, from childhood up in Ohio. I set the head to the handle after a couple hours of careful scraping and fitting. The wedge set in fully before it stopped. this will be the axe that goes with me... where ever that is. Thanks guys for such a good video. Smiling, George.

G'day Buckin n army, nice axe build by you and the river . Mr Wallaces axe is very nice a marriage of our two countries allies since WW1 , spotted gum E Maculata , very strong high impact resistance 970 kg per cubic meter @12% mc it's prized by apiarists, it was used as teeth in wooden cog wheels dredging harbours and was known to last up to twenty years . I have a plantation of them about that age 👍🇦🇺.

Greetings from No VT (USA) - Nice work Hogan, you are getting the Buckin "touch". I like a spoke shave for shaping and fine tuning with a medium rasp and sandpaper. My draw knife is out at my summer cabin workshop (with travel issues right now I can't retrieve it) so I have been using the spoke shave more recently have gotten pretty good as an axe handle shaper and shaver.....

Background.....I was a full-time wildland firefighter for 33 or so years starting in 1966. Point is I hung a few double bit axe handles. But, I hung a lot more Pulaski handles. In the 80's maybe I remember when those lines started showing up. At the same time they changed the grind to more of a falling shape. (as opposed to splitting). Since Pulaskis live in the dirt we had to change how we sharpened them. They are almost a hollow ground pattern and it is easy to build a feather edge...pretty but not so good in the dirt...easily chipped. I saw one (Pulaski) for sale the other day advertised as Vintage. When I saw inside the eye I knew different.
The lines keep the handle from shifting on the handle. You start it on the handle a little and mark it so it always goes that direction. (true for both axe and Pulaski).,,,make a decision in the first inch, flip it around to see it it lies straighter the other direction and then carry on, mates. You and the young man carry on also. Great content.
So how do I send you a picture of this double-bit falling ax head?
    Take care, Jay
