While the frustration of Charlie's in-laws is because of how he isolated himself from them is valid, how they can't process that he was in such grief is infuriating. Maybe to them they're in more pain over losing their daughter and grandkids, but Charlie was their daughter's husband and those were his kids. And they were lost in one of the worst attacks on US soil. How _can't_ they see he's a grieving father unable to cope with the deaths of his family.
Everything he said to his parents should have been enough for them to leave Charlie the hell alone. He faces life changing trauma, and they want to put him away for it? What kinda crap is that???

Also Don't Look Now
Rest in Peace to Donald Sutherland
when you get old these movies become more meaningful than a action superhero movie. in this case charlie and the dentist (don cheadle) and his father and mother in law even the judge are all heroes to me.
An amazing movie
Agreed
The in laws are such pieces of garbage. Is it really so hard to understand he's so destroyed that he just doesn't want to deal with the loss?
3:20 that scream tells everything about what he’s feeling
People seem to forget that comedians somehow end up being the best dramatic actors....
I love Adam Sandler's movies believe it or not. I've gotten a lot of laughter and fun from them and however I can laugh makes my life better. This movie was hard to watch but imo it's a masterpiece. It shows a completely different side of AS and it's brilliant and beautiful. "Don't bring Sugarman."
Well, hell. A 9 minute clip got me crying.
Adam Sandler is so underrated
"Ryan Started the Fire"
I don't understand what they would expect from Charlie.. I don't understand how they can't understand that he lost his whole entire family that day, but they still got each other. Why would the parents be so dumb as to wonder what's wrong with him? Nobody just gets over losing their entire family. That's why he shut down! Then they got the nerve to browbeat him for it? You're so stupid. If you don't go to Cancun for a week or something and get over it...
A LAMP????
The parents should have supported him rather than scolding him.
so they torture him in the court, and the judge punishes him?
It made me so mad too. This is a perfect example of narcissistic abuse.

How _can't_ they see he's a grieving father unable to cope with the deaths of his family.
i love this movie and i dont know why.... R.I.P Donald Sutherland!
Everything he said to his parents should have been enough for them to leave Charlie the hell alone. He faces life changing trauma, and they want to put him away for it? What kinda crap is that???
I cried
This is a vastly underappreciated movie. Sandler is very good in this movie.
I hope they have this movie in Heaven.
One of Adams best movies ever!
Every lawyers always get a rise or hinder the defendants.
Sandler's BEST movie!
Such an underrated movie, grief is a bitch!
Also, RIP to the legend Donald Sutherland.
I wish people in my life could understand why I can't get over it. And I'm not going to.
