absolute cinema and very relatable. i love that feeling when you're deeply invested in the grind: get better at certain sections, discover new strats, get further and further in real runs, but actually achieving the goal makes me feel nothing and the process of looking for a new game to play is way less enjoyable and sometimes even takes a week or two.
👏👏👏 That ending of the recording was spot on. There are a lot of lessons in this video, like using ressources. Looking forward to your next shmup journey.
Dude is the Jean-Paul Sartre of shmuppers. “I just want to feel again”. Every 1cc grind has that one run when the final boss has just a sliver of health left and you die. It’s all part of the journey. I’ve even had it where the boss’s health bar was showing no health at the point I died, but it still didn’t give me the clear! Mushi original is my recommendation for the next one. It won’t break you, and may even cheer you up with all those bright colours.
@@TheHiddenFortress81 Maniac isn’t that much harder. It's more danmaku style dodging, whereas Original has fewer bullets, but they are faster, you just have to memorise where to be.
I am a fairly new shmupper and just recently beat Mushi Novice Maniac. After original which was my toughest grind so far I initially thought maniac would come easily, but I almost had to practice just as much.
Lol this video spoke to my soul. Espgaluda was my first cave 1cc. I made a commentary vid and never posted it 🤦♂️. I recommend ddp dfk 1.5 or futari black label to attempt for next 1cc. For me those came pretty quickly after getting my espgaluda clear. Dfk black label is kicking my ass right now lol. Stoked to see your next clear!
Another epic video. I would say it's already my favourite short-movie of 2024. Second is your "My New Obsession". Good work man, good work. I would say try Crimzon Clover next. Followed by Ketsui (since you already have some progression), then Futari. ESP maybe later. Happy shmupin'!
@TheHiddenFortress81 It also slept for a few years in my Steam library (maybe until 2017?). At this time I bought a used X360 with all Cave's Shmups running on the PAL version. Futari was the one where it finally made "click". After some investigation I tried Crimzon Clover again and it easily became one of my Top10 Shmups.
Well done on the ESPgaluda clear! That near-win was painful to see at the start, but good on you for powering through. When people talk about an “easy Cave clear”, I feel like they’re neglecting to mention it’s still going to be harder than 99% of games on the market. Still don’t have one myself, but someday…
Haha great video man, this is exactly the struggle once you got into Shmups, there’s nothing else compared to that 1cc euphoria, once you experience that, there’s no go back to Super Mario 3 runs.
THAT! Is actually true. I still enjoy all kinds of other games but nothing compares to getting that 1 All and I think it’s really addicting in a fantastic way.
Another great video. About your next game i feel that esp ra de is the next logical element. Crimzon Clover is way harder IMHO, it is even slightly harder than ketsui imo. But hey, whatever you enjoy more! Its just a matter of time.
@@watchmaker17I've 1cced all three (never thought I'd ever be able to chime in on these convos 😂) and can confirm, Crimzon Clover is on par with Ketsui 1-ALL and probably a bit harder because it's 10 minutes longer and the final boss is quite difficult. Esprade is easier than both, but the final boss is also disproportionally difficult compared to the rest of the game. I definitely wouldn't go for CC if Ketsui feels "too hard" at the moment.
Yeah, I have a nasty habit of hanging on to my bombs for "when I really need them"-- which, it turns out, is every time I bite it with a bomb in stock. I feel ya though; chasing that 1CC is the pretty much the only thing that keeps me gaming nowadays.
I’d love a video on how you approach learning a bullet hell game! I love the genre but I’m not particularly good at it. I’ve only 1 CC’ed novice modes (Esp. Ra. De Psi and Crimzon Clover)
I am curious, how many unfinished 1cc attempts you have? I dont know how many mine are but I can remember many of it. Then I also got a few 1cc attempts on a non-shmup games. And yeah, this video is perfect example on how I felt with Hellsinker. When I got my 1cc, I know the game is way too unique to find something similar vibes so I just replayed the game using different character. The fact that every character llays way too different from another made me stop.
I'm a casual SHMUP player, I just like weaving around bullet patterns, and looking at how pretty they are. Still, I was able to sort of 1CC Crimzon Clover, at about 85% speed because I was playing it on my laptop. Most recently I've been playing Blue Revolver, it's pretty good so far.
I will always recommend Futari Black Label to everyone, the mechanics are just so good in that game. But I feel your pain, every time you reach a new level of play it will eventually just become the new normal and stop feeling special. But that fleeting feeling of achievement will forever keep me hooked on this genre....
@@TheHiddenFortress81 If you are looking into the 360, Dodonpachi Saidaioujou would be another nice game. The arcade mode is for the extreme masochists, for the more moderate masochists novice expert would be an option (you have to boost both weapons at the character screen). That said the regular novice mode has kept me busy for weeks, but I am close to 1cc 😅

@TheHiddenFortress81 yeah Espgaluda is great in that the 4st four stages are pretty easy so all save state practice will go in the last stage, i heard that Esp ra de is pretty solid in difficulty in that it doesn't start easy then ends with a huge spike in the end so it lets you know what to expect from the get go but im not sure, i'll wait for your clear to be sure.
