Your jazz warmup video with west african dance was so profound, it even still, stays resonant when i watch all your newer videos.

Love this! I've been learning tap dance the past 6 months and your channel has helped me so much in figuring out how to loosen up/make the dancing more natural. Thank you for continually uploading such great content!

Sound of "R" is most interesting in scat as it stands out being rolled out with different texture according to local accents (like French), and it's also not clearly interpreted as a point or line.
Also we often scat as ta/ki/pom etc, but starting with voves sound infrequently: [hop] versus [up], ta-ki-ta vs at-ik-at, so it's like trying starting from another leg)

      All really good points.
I love to learn scatting from horn players. They gave such a great variety of syllables to scat and express.

I cannot grasp the idea of scatting. I have musicality, understand rhythm and counts, but scat is so difficult for me. ☹️

What exactly is difficult, Jeanie: finding syllables, finding melodies, making phrases?
I recommend to listen to Dizzy Gillespie or Clark Terry and copy their scat. Very useful and fun
