I honestly don't know why I watched till the end, I dont even play or collect magic
Conspiracy time. Rudy only owns like 700 cards and he just sleeves them up and acts like he’s buying more. Makes up some sop story and shows off the same collection he’s had for years.
And then heads of to his distributor employer warehouse and poses in front of their product in his vids.

When he was going through the first blue page and he kept skipping the time walk I was having a panic attack like "I know you fucking see it!" "Take out the damn card I want to look at it!" Lol
To the person that wrote the letter. Like you I did the same just didnt go as far in my early years. Dropped around 2004 to focus on my family and sold everything for a stupid amount that im ashamed to admit lol. But long story short. my son is now almost 15 years old and we go to the pre release tournaments together and once a week sit on the floor of the living room and try out decks he is creating from scratch. This is more rewarding than he can ever imagine to me and if you could hold on to a hand full you will be rewarded with that as well. These memories will be worth more to you than your collection ever was.

I lost a box of my valuable collection about a decade ago. It was basically Revised through Homelands with a solid dive into Legends, Antiquities, and Arabian Nights. Pretty heartbroken about it still, for precisely the reason you just outlined - it's not about the money, it's about being able to open a box of my childhood memories and show it off to my kid.
wasn't MTG, but I used to support my 2 daughters with competitive play in pokemon. same deal, its the thing they remember the most from their childhood. The road trips, I used to teach them goofy camp songs on the drive. Making decks and playing together, buying and trading cards with them. They learned a lot about fair play being honest and strategy thinking. When we get together now if things start to go to a bad place I remind them about a tournament somewhere and poof laughter breaks out and we enjoy the time.
Too bad parents don't support their kids with TCG, I wouldn't change 1 moment of my experiences as they are all great. My kids turned out awesome as well and I think the lessons in the TCG we polayed have served them well over the years. Davis337 you are so correct in your comments

These collections are cool. Takes me back to my younger days when I used to own and play with most of these cards right out of the pack. Even double Rudy's Goldfish doesn't know the joy of playing with Candelabras with no sleeves on a concrete floor.
2:14 the letters & stories are my favourite. I'm a new player who's never experienced these kinds of things, so I guess it's nice to live vicariously through strangers' memories.

Sure you can....long as you got at least a cool million to spare...but hey,goals and whatnot...but yes,I would almost kill to be able to swap/buy/trade like rudy does...must be a lot of work,but he loves what he does..!!..
This collection actually doesnt look that great. It just looks like the guy played 20 different tier 1 decks and took them apart and put the most expensive staples into a binder. Rudy has shown much more cooler "real" collections that really have like tons of old cards old foils complete sets etc. THOSE are cool

Chris Lee yep . My son is 13 and has been collecting since Dominaria. Told him don’t take the cards for granted . When he’s in his 20s and 30s he may have something special to look on and remember. Not so much as the value , but the Sunday’s at the kitchen table with his buddies .

That alternate Counterspell was for the first season of Arena. There was a Fireball, Incinerate, Disenchant, and Basic Lands as well

Rudy's goldfish! I had so many of those cards that I sold too excitedly to my LGS for buylist. I didn't get into the finance or real values of things until after I got rid of them all, and I really regret doing so. But now I know. It's videos like these that help people see what they should hang onto or not.

this story was so cool and took me back to a time where i had about a dozen or so friends who all went to the same school and played magic together. the "schoolyard meta" that was established is really cool, thinking back. i wish that was a thing now. online or at my LGS it's all competitive standard, so as a result even my kitchen table group often results in a similar situation. maybe i should learn about the "cube", as the kids are calling it.
Cube is a ton of fun! Look into it if you haven't yet!

Goldfish Double Rudy Fish...of course...who doesn't love conversing about the game and the old school nostalgia. Loved the letter in the beginning with the memories. Sleepovers on school weekends up until 3 a.m. playing for Ante!!! Love this type of content. Got an old Collection from a friend of my father, who past away. Its a collection of Alliances, 4th Edition and Fallen empires and its in great condition! I love to go through the cards and enjoy the nice artworks. Their value is low, but i dont wanna sell them, so.
These types of videos are you at your most authentic and the reason why you have your core audience.

Sad this guy sold his collectiom because of temporary reduction in modern card value. These cards will not go to zero. What you see in general is value directly tied to decks that are currently running the cards. Since pioneer came out you have at least 40-60% of players shifting to pioneer legal cards and just less demand for modern cards. The value is actually the same just not represented well at any given time in the meta. You can have a 5$ card jump to 32$ because of a break out deck running 4 of's. So things shifted instead of the 'value' 'tanking'. What happens when a new format comes into view that allows the cards once again? The latent value will once again show through. If you don't like the cards or if you make impulsive decisions you will end up cardless... thank you so kush!

I would love to get back into Magic, but I'm only really interested in the old cards. Looking at some of the prices online has me very discouraged...I understand the cards are rare but, thousands of dollars for a single card? This is an almost impossible hobby to take up unless you're loaded. Oh well, I have some fond memories at least..
