I like the older bikes, don't need abs or any of that. Good sound, good looks, good fun. Did just fine in the 80thies without all those safety features, just ride sensible. The sound alone makes me smile.

Doesn’t need much, except regular riding. Carb and cam give it that unique sound. Kudos on those saddlebags, previous owner took some good care. Congrats, you found a good one. Go have some fun.🤠

I like your taste in music Aymen. Wrt the bike, yes the 4 digit code is the week and year of manufacture of the tyre, so 4605 is 46th week of 2005. Bike looks good and sounds nice. In terms of styling, it's going to be either original or some subtle accents. A modified old bike won't hold its value as much as a mostly original bike ( per your other video also). Those ltr badges are easy fixed. The Eagles head on the guard...well leave it on for a while and see if it grows on you. It reminds me of a lot of American classic card that had similar bonnet emblems

Don’t think I can ever bring myself to sell it! Congratulations on getting your hands on what looks to be a great, solid Evo. You could buy the HD branded Bridgestone tyre. You had to order them and the funny thing is they lasted longer than the ones not branded HD. They did cost more but worth it.
Doesn’t really matter what we want to see. You will have a plan in your mind.
Sell the Live to ride stuff as I’m sure there are some collectors out there.

Tyres are most likely from 2005. If the four numbers you are referring to were "2005" that would mean they were produced in the 20th week of 2005. These days when looking at bikes, I not only check the condition of the tyre, but also find that tyre code.
Just remember, More eagles = MORE POWER!

    Hey Aymen
Great purchase mate, the skies the limit with the bike. I'm sure you'll have a vision on what you want to create out of it, whichever way you go you'll have to sort out seat and bars to get yourself stretched out a bit for comfort. You've got the long hauler in the SG, so maybe Vicla this one out, strip it back some nice low Weston's, big front wheel, some nice airbrushing be pretty cool. Look forward to the personalisation mate. Cheers bro thanks for sharing. 👊😎👊

I have same bike 1998 softail heritage even have the live to ride logo all except head light shades. same condition as your purchase i prefer cowboy bars its a pleasure to ride. Sounds great but seems to be running lean on fuel when idling, people love to have them idle low but it not great for the motor id adjust it a tad more . Oil is engine sumping if the bike was sitting a long while the oil drains past the check valve .check oil is not overfilled if is continues i would check the pressure valve.
Mines done it a couple times over the years and still running well old evos are great.
Keep it as is stock looks like a classic cheers from bendigo

Yep, all those live to ride budgies gotta go. I always hated the engine breather going to the filter, could be oil in the crankcase, which could clear. I always drop the hose forward and run just under the motor. Apart from that, it looks good. You got the same problem as me, we both make Harleys look small ... Lol. Live to ride stuff, and the T bars would be the first things to go. A nice set of beach bars from Barcraft would look great. In regards to tyres, I've had a fantastic run with the Bridgestone Battlecruise H50 on my M8 Breakout. Probably the best tyres I've ever had on a motorcycle. Really long lasting and fantastic handling.

We have 'clubs', eg Vintage/Classic/British etc, where you can get a 'club' registration plate for cheap, BUT, can only ride on 'organised/gazetted club rides' which may mean only 1 per Month, and mostly during summer only. Yes it is permitted to 'ride around the block' for tuning purposes, but the Law here is onto that =
No stopping at a pub or grocery store....

Back in the day the 3 things I liked about the Heritage are the unmistakable classic Harley looks, the very comfie seat and the sound. Once I rode the thing, sorry, but not for me, handles like a pig, vibrates like a vibrator and then getting a puncture with tube tyres. All of those negatives (for me) meant if I got an Evo it would be a Road King. If I was you, as a first step, get rid of the L2R stuff, grab a Scotch or 2 (or a cup of tea), sit, relax, gaze at the thing and contemplate the clean looks of the bike - perhaps it now looks pretty good as is. Well almost. Step 2, make it yours by fitting handlebars that gives you a comfortable riding position. Fix the blow by at the air cleaner and of course, new tyres. KISS principle could go a long way here. I would avoid both the all chromed out or all blacked out look (unless you want to turn it into a 'show' bike) but a balance of black and chrome could make it pop just nicely, especially after 2 hours of polishing and waxing. BTW, a friend of mine fitted Performance Machine brake calipers on his Heritage and reckoned the thing stopped on a 20 cent piece [remember, back in the day].

I have an 04 Heritage, the engine doesn't shake at all, check your rubber mounts. And handling, mines tight and nimble. I'm 5'8" and scrape my floor boards if I push it through turns with ease. So have it looked at, it shouldn't be like that.

    • @nevillegreg1

Congrats on the new but old bike... As to tires unless you want to have that little Harley badge stamped into the edge of the tire than save yourself some coin and just go and buy the correct size motorcycle tires you pay a huge premium on Harley branded anything. After all the majority of bagger tires are going to be Dunlop with an occasional Michie in there. Tread pattern for the Dunlops are going to be the same as Harley. So the question you have to ask yourself is do you want to spend the extra money just to have a little stamp on your tire so you can say it's all Harley equipment. Personally, for me a tire is a tire if it fits, stops, and has good tread life that's what I will be running on my bikes.

Not a fan of the t-bars. The Harley insignia stuff is a matter of opinion, not for me. I think you should go for the dark and mysterious look, personally. Happily, you know what they say about opinions…it’s a great ride!

Please keep that ( tortured looking ! ) eagle on the front mudguard - $10 says that is standard on a Heritage ???
The LTR on the air-cleaner ? Just paint it black would be my Vote
I LIKE those 'eyebrows' ( is that the word ? ) on the headlight and spotties, tho I do believe just 'plain steel' ( chromed of course ) may look better..
I have a '95 ( dyna ) and that badge on the sissy-bar I reckon was standard fitment, but my sissy-bar has been in the shed since 2 weeks after i bought it.... Tho i figure your Lady would prefer the sissy bar remained !
It looks grouse Mate, please keep it as-is, and just ride it for 6 Months or so before making any Major alterations ( sava-da-money ! ), it may grow-on-you....

The EVOs idle that slow, twin-cams and M8s idle higher
Please Note THO - on an EVO if you set the idle TOO low, it knackers them !
The 'knife and fork' crank to rod join needs a steady idle, a low lumpy idle ruins it V quickly.....

It didn't take you long to revert to the old throttle blip technique needed to ensure carb bikes keep idling. 🤣
Never stall fuel injection spoils us.

I would strip it all back & pretty much make a Fat Boy out of it.
Fat boy front guard change. Original FB bars on some 4-6 inch risers. High/Low shot gun exhaust with Screaming Eagle slip ons. Original FB seat. Keep the spoked wheels to be a little bit different. Add performance machine brakes & rotors, 6 pot & o'size floating rotor up front, 4 pot and floating bringing up the rear. YSS Progressive suspension underneath & Progressive front fork springs. Motor wise, up the compression, Keith Black pistons, Andrews unjustable push rods. EV27 cam & tim kin bearing change. Single fire ignition, S&S carb, heavy-duty clutch spring. Maybe an external oil cooler for those hotter temperatures. Call it a Fat'tidge or a Hera'Boy lol. Either way I'd ride the tits off of it! ❤ PS: Avon Cobras are good tyres.

Hello! I like your idea about Amons bike build, what would you do with a 2021 m8 114 fat bob?( I orderd performance machine brakes 2weeks ago, only master cylinder and lever, no rotors, but sintered brakepads (I’am 1,83m tall)
( i dont like too loud pipes, prefer torq than high rpm and speed, but i like riding fast) thank you 😊

@OldNotDead-Club shouldn't take you that long, appeal to your patreons who all want to see this kind of build and get some good sponsors for the various parts, all the other channels do it this way. 🤔

@Ako1130 Hi, I'm flattered you would ask but sadly I've only ever run Evos and the occasional Twin Cam. I'd go onto "Gixer Foo" on TH-cam, he's great with all the options for All types of Hogs, M8's included. But I can tell you this much, a larger diameter floating rotor up front will do more for your stopping ability than just a PM caliper on its own, even if it's a 6 pot. Large rotors improve stopping distances by approximately 30%.
