Thanks for the helpful video. I replaced a grinding, groaning fan with a new one following your directions. It was very easy to follow your video instruction. My computer is now working very quietly. Thanks. Pete
Thank you. This solved my fan problem. Can you please tell me how you replace the cover that has the keyboard and mouse part on it. I broke mine a while ago and can't find a video showing how to replace it. Many thanks.
Glad it helped. Don't have the system anymore so couldn't show that unfortunately, but the service manual explains how to do it: h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06208783.pdf
No, almost any modern laptop (barring some high-end gaming or workstation systems which use desktop processors) will have a soldered processor, which is non-replaceable.
Not from what I know. I used this video before to clean my laptop and am coming back to it now to redo it after a few months. I didn't remove the battery and was able to clean it enough for it to make a pretty big difference
did you by any chance end up changing the cooling fan because it suddenly started making alot of noise? because thats what happened to my 255 g7 all of a sudden and im inclined to believe i need to change the fan as well, you can now hear it even in low rpm, whereas before it was completely silent!
I was doing this on a brand new laptop I had purchased specifically to make these videos, so the machine had no issues. It is possible for a fan to suddenly become loud if a bearing is going, it has been damaged (eg. lost a blade) due to an impact, or plastic or other debris has got loose inside the laptop and is making contact with the fan blades as they spin.
@@BrueComputing i see, thanks for the reply. just wanted to know, because mine is just 4 months old, and already started lots of noise all of a sudden although it was completely silent so far. guess im up for a visit to the dealers.. :)
no they don't . It depends on the spec build . the 255 g7 I have has no m.2 slot but has the hdd option installed . HP don't do both just either or unless it says on the spec. Also the optical drive is an option wich isn't shown here but I have one .Mine also has 1 slot for memory and I can go from 4 to 8 gb but no more ( unless there is a spec build that can ) Shame they don't but then they wouldn't make money if they provided a customer with a laptop which was fully upgradable . It makes more money to offer several spec options which are give and take based but with some room to make small upgrades

@@BrueComputing ok, thank's a lot for the quick answer as well ;)
Is it necessary to remove the battery before doing the whole procedure?

I haven't taken apart a 250 G7, but the service manual suggests it does.
