  • Upgrading the HP 250 G6 laptop with a 500GB SSD and additional 4GB DDR4 RAM.
This is a fairly simple job, requiring only a small Philips head screwdriver and a plastic pry tool.
    Parts fitted:
    Sandisk Ultra 3D SSD 500GB: amzn.to/2GtlwXj
    Crucial 4GB DDR-2400 RAM: amzn.to/2GssyeF
The HP 250 G6 Service Manual can be found here: h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/...

This was a great video, made getting the laptop open a much easier process.. RAM and SSD now upgraded - the laptop is now usable in Windows 10!

I have one of these laptops from 2018 and it worked so well for everything, a true veteran and I have a silly sentimental attachment to it. Toward the end of 2021 its performance dropped though, I think the HDD got heat damaged from me working outside with the computer (the sun got this thing so hot I've burned myself on the touchpad).
Do you think replacing the hard drive with a solid state type would deal with the issue? I'm also a bit freaked out about it now because a friend has the same model which also slowed down to unusable but it might've already been like that from the start.

    • @JohnSmith-ez8dn
      @JohnSmith-ez8dn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

probably speed issues - if there is a fast module already equipped and you put in a much slower one, it gets highly overclocked and this can result in the notebook not starting.
      Try swapping both modules ...

Hello, I have the NOTEBOOK HP 250 G7 153B9LT 15.6 / I5-1035G1 / 4 / 1TB / DOS. And I want to add 8gb of RAM to it. That is, it already has 4gb to DDR4-2666 and I want to add another 8gb DDR4-2666 module, in total 12gb. The technical question is the following:
    Is this 12gb combination (4gb DDR4-2666 + 8gb DDR4-2666) going to work at the speed of 2666 or 2400?
Because someone told me that this configuration of 4 + 8 in this notebook works at 2400 but if I put 8 + 8 it works at 2600.
    Could you confirm how fast the 4gb 2666 + 8gb 2666 combination works? 2666 or 2400?
Thank you, I await your reply.

@@BrueComputing Just an update. I eventually bought myself a SanDisk 3D Ultra SSD and a cheap £5 cable to clone it from my laptop. I used a free software called Macrium Reflect and it took about 50 minutes to clone just over 200GB of OS and data to my new SSD . The difference between the old cheap Seagate HDD and the new SanDisk SSD is astonishing, so much faster etc. So simple to do also, the hardest part was actually getting the laptop opened up without breaking anything, a bit fiddly and tricky but OK with a bit of patience. Many thanks.

No, the processors are soldered down, and the Celeron models use a completely different mainboard. Only possibility would be to source the higher spec mainboard (and possibly other parts) and for those, but would have to check the service manual.

The Power button board can be reasonably easily replaced if damaged, see P77 of the service manual: h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05485525.pdf
You can also short the pins on the power board or mainboard connector to start it up, but not really a long-term solution and not something I'd recommend if you don't know what you're doing.

Yes. It uses DDR4-2400 modules (link in the description) although you can fit 2666/3200 modules, they'll just run at the lower speed.

Hello, I'm trying to open this laptop and I can't remove the plactic cover. I have removed all screws and those plastic clips aren't holding the cover. It looks like the only thing that it holds is a VGA port as I can't pull the plastic cover over it. What should I do? It also feels a little bit that it's being held by something inside, but there are no screw left, so it's maybe just na odd feeling. What should I do? Apply more force?

There may be clicks that would open up the back side....no force only look for clicks .

@@bigfred8495 Hello, clips around the edges are released, may you elaborate where to look for the others that may not be released?, or how to achieve their releasing?

Question can this laptop only handle the 500gb ssd and 4g of Ram or can it go higher than that??

You can add more storage & RAM to it as you feel fit. In terms of RAM I believe the maximum is 2x 16GB SODIMMs, 32GB in total.
