  • The work of dedicated crew chiefs is taxing, but they take pride in what they do. No matter what, these Airmen are out on the flightline, making sure their jets get up in the air and accomplish their mission.

No matter what plane, no matter what era, a crew chief's job never really changes no matter what. I was an F-111D crew chief at Cannon from 1974 to 1979 and the sights and sounds of the flightline on the video were SO familiar! (Loving the TOs on PC!) BTW...my old-style AFSC was U43171C. The "U" meant F/EF/FB-111 certified.

Always a hard job to do...not many can cut it, but it's rewarding each day. F-16 DCC from 2001-2008. Crew Dawgs!

Great job, keep up the good work. What ever it takes to keep them flying and safe.

Fantastic aircraft and with the right budget it will make the century of service...and the first aircraft in history to do it. Long live the BUFF.

+Old glory Incorrect. Crew chiefs, who are enlisted, get their names on the jet.

      What about Aircraft Maintenance officers????

      Old glory
Aircraft Maintenance Officers are leaders of maintainers, not necessarily maintainers themselves. Their jobs are quite different, though both a crew chief and AMO deal with aircraft. You should probably check out the Air Force website for details on both enlisted maintainers and AMOs.

I need help finding my right AFSC! I originally wanted to be a pilot, but I have a lazy eye (20/20 in the good eye 20/200 in the bad eye), I then learned that I can't even be a pilot and I can barely go into aviation. Nothing else is wrong with me besides that eye and I really like jets. I want to become an officer, so what job should I work to?

Again I can't stress this enough! I loved planes and aviation all my life, but after suffering my eye circumstances, I'm questioning whether I should even join! I know for fact that I can fly commercial planes, so should I just do that??? Does the Air force have a place for me?
