They just loan it to the pilots for a bit...Any-way's its good to see the ground crew getting to have a bit of fun in a dangerous area like air ports and air craft carriers. I hope you all keep safe to all the folks that keep America safe.

regardless of what the ground crew does, what i absolutely loved is that the crew still has so much respect for the pilots and salutes every single one pre launch. Mad respect, gotta love the airforce
that's it, do whatever the fuck you want; but pop that (sharp) salute to the men taking your aircraft into battle,. RESPECT! Your sweaty, (sometimes unappreciated) hours on the ramp don't mean shit unless those young men in the cockpit do their jobs..(USAF ret E-7...).

Especially in a combat zone. Buffoonery is a pressure valve and I'm quite certain if the chief saw anything amiss, he can get serious in a hurry. Regardless, he's doing his job and making the burdens of his and the pilot's job a little less stressful. Now, a dumb off-topic question for the aviation vets: how come US aircraft no longer have static pitot tubes on their noses?
63babaganoosh can you clarify which planes? The F35 has a pitot system but it's just really hard to see if you're not explicitly looking for it. Its not mounted directly on the tip of the nose, and this was likely done to reduce its radar signature.
I was a Air Force Security Police Sargent 1978 to 1983 . I guarded Missles , Fighters and Bombers and watched the Flight crews do all kinds of hilarious shit !

As a civilian, I was given a ride in an F-16D (Block 50) out of Shaw AFB, Sumter SC, with the 79th FS, tail number 91-468, and there she is in all her resplendent glory, at the 40 second mark. Go USAF!
I used to marshal the B-52’s out on the flight line back in the mid 80’s. If or sergeant or one of the officer pilots saw us acting that way, they would have stopped the plane and recommended a bullet to the brain. Lol. I wish we could have done this back then. they incorporate the actual signals into the dance. they keep everything irrelevant tight to their bodies, so it doesn't draw too much attention. They know what they are doing, for the most part, and the pilots know what they are looking for.
I wonder how these guys can do this without getting in trouble. However, I can see why. What the pilots do is serious. Something that will put them at ease before they do some serious stuff. Like that weird family member that always makes you laugh

When I was in a reprimand would have been issued for “having fun” like this at the very least. You can see how the Navy’s gangman style of cat launches has filtered down to the USAF.

No there still in we been fighting like hell to keep them tho, the F-35 is supposed/going to replace them but they are so far behind production that there still being use. It's the only aircraft build around a gun, 30mm GAU 8, from tip of the gun barrel to the ammo drum is 21 feet long, the barrels are 8 feet long and there 7 of them, Its BADASS!

And I'm to the point where I can call out whether a warthog or F-16 is over head just by the sound the engines make. I can't wait to join the Air force! I love planes!

My dad got in trouble back in 1963 for letting some pilots under his command that got in trouble wash their jets in swimsuits instead of fatigues.

This is a morale boost, usually done on the last day of a TDY while launching the jets out to go back home. Pilots that I have seen usually love it.
