    ℹ️ About the Episode:
Sequoia National Park was breathtaking at every turn. Even though it's been recommended to us for years, it really doesn't get as much attention as Yosemite, Yellowstone, Zion and others. And yet, it should! The trees are spectacular in every way, especially General Sherman, a giant sequoia and the largest known living single-stem tree on Earth. It's hard to grasp how big this tree really is, even when you're standing directly in front of it. And yet visiting Sequoia NP goes beyond just the giant trees. Driving through the park is equally stunning, and driving through Sequoia National Park's Tunnel Log is a classic Summer To Remember® list item! Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, about 5 minutes from the tunnel log was Moro Rock. The trail was chiseled by the National Park Service and felt like a spiral staircase leading to a 360-degree view at the top. This hike was reminiscent of Angels Landing, but not nearly as difficult.

The best part? That you had this amazing experience with your best friend. Please, please, as exasperating as daily life can be together, never take your "other" for granted. Mine passed two years ago after 40 years of marriage. Watching the two of you together brings back such sweet, yet melancholy, memories. 😌

@@rhondalyn100my wife passed 19 years ago and traveling was what we wanted to do at the age of 40-45 (after the kids left home).
I'm 47 now, kids are out on their own and I'm starting to travel without her. She can see it all with me, thru my eyes...

When I was 19 years old in 1979, I worked in King’s Canyon & lSequoia National Parks for a few months on a trail crew, building trails and then transferred to a trail crew in Yosemite when earthquakes hit Mammoth Lakes and huge rocks came down and land slides came down and huge rocks fell and damaged cabins in the valley. So I was lucky enough to get to work in that area for real! We would go hiking in our spare time! God’s beautiful creation!!! Brings back amazing memories!!! I hope our paths get to cross soon with you guys in real life someday!!!

Thank you for this video! We are lucky enough to have Kings Canyon, Sequoia, and Yosemite as our home parks and visit each on a regular basis. I can attest to the unlevel campsites at Azalea. When we had our tent trailer I stupidly unhooked before chocking and it rolled backwards into a tree (with me hanging on trying to stop it to no avail). We still laugh about that 15 years and two trailers later.
I hope you get the chance to come back when you can drive (or ride .... it's an epic descent on a bike) down into Kings Canyon itself. The Kings River runs next to the highway and is beautiful, and the campgrounds in the canyon are great.

0:03 Such a great video! It is amazing what our Park Rangers have done and what they know. I am blessed to live 20 minutes away from a Redwood Grove and less than an hour from the ocean. Thank you for praising California. So many people bash us and say they'd never visit. Yes, it's expensive here but it's worth it. Happy new year, looking forward to what you have in store for us.

One thing I take from you RV'ers is that you get a chance to show us your viewers all the diversity in the different landscapes available in our great nation. As much as I enjoy the east coast vibe and our NC mountains there is a lot to offer out west. I have been as far as Buena Vista CO but that was over 50 years ago.

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks are, like Yosemite, breathtakingly beautiful. I've experienced all three and I think Sequoia is my go to park, for several reasons. First, it's not as busy as Yosemite; Second, the age and size of the Sequoias can not be compared to any other living thing, maybe not as tall as a coastal redwood, but so massive; and old; Third, Living in Visalia for over 25 years it's only 45 minutes away. I've been there and done that and still find it inspiring.
One caveat: On the GPS video of your route it showed you going up Hwy 198 through Visalia, HOWEVER, you obviously entered via Hwy 180 from Fresno. But, you didn't tell everyone why you did this. Hwy 198 has a total length restriction of 28 feet COMBINED on that road. Obviously with a 19 foot truck and a 30 foot airstream you far exceeded that restriction.
    Just setting the record straight.
Thanks for all of your travels! I love visiting National Parks and with our visits to White Sands, NM and Hot Springs, AR in 2023 we've visited 50 parks. Still my #1 is Crater Lake, OR. 4 years ago we moved our residence to Maine to be near grand kids. So we've visited Acadia many times and each time is unique, just like every time to each of the other parks I've been to.
I hope that your subscribers, those who can at least, find your channel inspiring enough to go out and see these things first hand. For those who, for physical or financial reasons, can not go out, I pray that they enjoy vicariously all of your experiences. Your videos are exceptionally well done and I find them interesting and entertaining.
    Safe travels!

For our large dog, we’ve put the seats up (Ram 3500) and put his dog bed on it. He’s lower than when he was in our CX5 so his head isn’t rubbing the roof when he’s standing. We do it so his claws don’t wreak the leather or cloth inserts. We bought a seat saver for the bottom of the seats because they’re covered with furry rug & don’t want even more dog hair to remove😂.

There’s and amazing place inside Kings Canyon/Sequoia. It’s called Montecito Sequoia Lodge. It is a family summer camp June-August, but it’s a camp-like inclusive resort in the off season. There are a variety of levels of accommodations from rustic cabins, to hotel type rooms, to luxury cabins. Your lodging fees include 3 meals a day in the dining hall. There are no tv’s in the rooms and minimal wifi. There’s lots of activities right on the property, some self guided, some more structured. We’ve been there twice. First time there was over 15 feet of snow!! We Cross country skied and snowshoed the trails. The second time was in the fall and we enjoyed crisp autumn weather and explored the area via hiking. Our kids are grown (nearly) and they still ask to go back there for a family vacation. It really is amazing! So glad you take the time to explore the roads less traveled! Your family has been inspiration to us! Thank you!

We arrived with our 42' 5er last Thursday afternoon and found Azalea Campground, the only one open this time of year. We squeezed into the main loop and said, let's try this site, it might be the only one we can get into. 30 minutes later and lots of back and forth we finally got leveled. Then I noticed the surroundings and thought, I think this is the same campground KYD stayed last fall. Got starlink hooked up, barely peeking through the trees, and pulled up your Sequoia video and sure enough. Not only same campground but also the exact same spot. We had a great laugh. And a few inches of snow the next day. Yes on April 26 still winter in Kings Canyon and Sequoia!!!

Oh, to see those trees again! After college I drove from CT to CA to see my college friend who was a ranger at Sequoia. It was one of those times never to forget but dimmed over time. Your hike there and up Moro Rock, and all the wonderful scenic drives I have been blessed to be on (Acadia, Blue Ridge Pkwy., all over Co, Idaho, Alaska, and even South Dakota Black Hills, and of course FL) and your stunning videography and reverence for the outdoors brings a little lump in my throat and a little tear.
For anyone reading this, please, please go and enjoy all the places you can for as long as you are able. My dear hubby can't do any more trekking because of a progressive muscle disease, but so glad we have travelled together over 39 yrs. of marriage, and my own solo travel wherever and whenever I can. Marc and Trish, love your hearts and wish you a fab 2024 and beyond. Thanks so much for your travel journals and kind, adventurous spirits!

Mark nailed it.....everytime you turn around, it's something amazing. America......God shed his grace on thee! I had to hear Ray Charles sing it one more time.

We went there in late October of 2021, we had checked ahead to see if they were open online, they were but closed a few hours before we arrived because of fires in the area… bummer!
But the ranger at the entrance was so nice and apologetic, he let us park inside and walk around to see some of the magnificent trees nearby the entrance. He even allowed us to pick up a few cones to take as a keepsake, we treasure them and show them to anyone who comes by.
I love your channel and your positivity/enthusiasm for life is a refreshing change from the norm these days, thank you for all you do.

I wish you had shown the Sherman, and i wish you had shown the view on the top. I kind of yelled NOOOO when you left that top without the pan around.. Well well, maybe one day i will be able to visit the US and see it for my self. Thank you for the inspiration and for sharing. :)
