My two cents compared to the Tin T4: I had both (I returned the Tin T4's). Why? The T4: - Is a little less bassy, but I feel the speed of the Moondrop is better and I like the slight bit 'extra' there. This adds to the bass tightness and texture on the Moondrops. - Midrange is quite comparable, up to ~2kHz. Here, the Tin's start to shout a little more, and become a little more bloated. Yes, voices often have slightly better detail there, but I didn't find it comfortable at higher listening levels. - Treble is actually not more energetic in my experience, at least not the upper treble. The Tin's have nowhere near the 'air' that the Moondrops do. - Imaging is a strong point for the Tins though. However, the space in which they portray that image is noticably smaller. I think the Moondrop are pretty spacious for an IEM (I'm not one that has heard 300+ $/€ IEMs), so I think the space of the Moondrop is excellent and I prefer that over the imaging of the Tin T4. My recommendation: get the Tin's if you like the upper midrange detail, with better imaging and less bass emphasis. For some string instruments and voices (Amy Winehouse sounded spectacular in the Tins), the T4 is great. But overall, with regards to overall timbre and sense of space, I much prefer the Moondrops. The Tin T4 often sounds more bloated in comparison. When music gets more complex, the Moondrops take the cake.
I got both too and this is exactly what I experience, the only thing I would add is I find it harder to fit the moondrops in my ears, the tin t4s have a really easy fit and its straight forward but I even have to use different size tips for the moondrops? I just dont know why. Also, if you want to tame a little the highs on the moondrops I would consider the tape mod, I feel it more enjoyable that way. I will sell my T4s or have them with me on commutes where I just dont want to risk the moondrops but want a decent audio experience.
Cheers for this! I have the T4s and been wondering about getting these to see if the extra bass helps with metal etc. I do love the T4s though but they do have more treble detail with the Starfield being more in line all round. Sound quality wise I really enjoyed them. Unfortunately I realized soon after I bought them they fatigued my ears very quickly. I attributed this not to the sound signature, but iem in general. The Starfield kills the SE215, and the Blon03, they are tight for DD. The Starfield is emphasised right up before it would fatigue compared to a so many other IEMs. They sound like butter in my ears, and are fun to listen to, they are smooth without being muddy. I can't comment on those because I haven't heard them yet, but from what I hear the only other one worth looking into at the moment at this price would be the Tin Hifi T4. Again, not something I can confirm for certain though as I haven't been able to compare side by side. I think that's the only way to know.
T4 and Starfield are very similar to my ear. I’m happy with both but the Starfields are my current favorites. Accurate enough, but fun and “musical”. I could not agree with this review more. Great content, thanks!
Is Hifiman Deva review coming? I know you already made a brief comparison to Sundara, but would be nice to get some in depth review and comparison. Many thanks and jeep up the excelent work
I own both and IMO Starfield is more comfortable for long sessions, less sibilant (less cringing when treble becomes present in the audio which results in a much more enjoyable listening experience), and has more of a sound stage. The DMGs have a more present bass but it is not 'punchy' IMO the Starfield bass is more enjoyable (the DMG's bass sounds 'muddy'). To be honest they each have a different sound from one another. They both sound good, but the Starfield's have a crisper sound IMO. The Starfield's require a better amp/dac to push them which my Fiio Q1 MkII barely accomplishes.
Because they're Crin's haha. If anything I'd rather point viewers in the direction of his site to see his graphs there than put one in a video and have someone falsely assume we're affiliated or that I'm responsible for them. I'm well aware they're watermarked, but not everyone considers that. I'm looking into better measurement systems for IEMs at the moment, so when I get that figured out I'll be able to show my own.
Jade audio ae3 is better. About the same price. I bought 2 of them. The resolution is off the charts. 13mm dynamic driver and 1 Knowles balanced armature.
I like your grading "in the price bracket" approach. Minor observation, given the build quality, design, comfort, why a 9 out of 10 and not 10 out of 10 "in the price bracket"? Doesn't make sense that it is "only" a 9 out of 10 based on your comments just before the grade. If detail retrieval gets 8.5... design/comfort must be a 10.
It would be 10/10 if not for the reports of paint chipping. I also think for IEMs you have to factor in all the accessories, and while the Starfield is fine, it's not as accessory-rich as I've seen.
Working out with IEMs is never preferable. They're not designed to be sweat/ water proof, and not suitable for rigorous activities. It's a bummer but like many, for workouts you'll have to look into consumer options like Powerbeats pros or other Sports earphones.
why did you opt for a grading relative to the price category instead of an absolute rating so we can compare iem across different price categories ( when we change iem we usually go for a vertical upgrade and not horizontal span in the same price category) if it was to get more dynamic range in order to zoom in the small differences in a given price category, why not rate out of 100 instead of out of 10 ? thanks
I've gone back and forth on this. The problem with disregarding price is that something like this might look like a 5 out of 10 and that wouldn't accurately capture how I feel about it relative to it's price. It's totally unfair to compare the Starfield directly with the u12t or Tia trio.
@@amanieux it's unfair if one costs $2000 and the other $110. Again, the reason for this is that I can't expect everyone to recognize that 5/10 is actually really good for $110. If you want that kind of ranking I'd suggest looking at Crin's excellent list.

Again, not something I can confirm for certain though as I haven't been able to compare side by side. I think that's the only way to know.
The HEADPHONE Show Yes, you cannot confirm the rumor.
I’ve never used IEM’s Will they work with iPhones and iPads?
Will work with anything with a headphone jack
Do they sound better than m50x??
What are those tweezers for?
T4 and Starfield are very similar to my ear. I’m happy with both but the Starfields are my current favorites. Accurate enough, but fun and “musical”. I could not agree with this review more. Great content, thanks!
Is Hifiman Deva review coming? I know you already made a brief comparison to Sundara, but would be nice to get some in depth review and comparison. Many thanks and jeep up the excelent work
better starfield or bgvp dmg?
Is this good for rock music?
I don't really like the cables tho they are a bit too thin to me
Why don’t you just use Crin‘s graphs in your IEM reviews?
Because they're Crin's haha. If anything I'd rather point viewers in the direction of his site to see his graphs there than put one in a video and have someone falsely assume we're affiliated or that I'm responsible for them. I'm well aware they're watermarked, but not everyone considers that. I'm looking into better measurement systems for IEMs at the moment, so when I get that figured out I'll be able to show my own.
For the same price, these or 1more quad driver?
If youre all rounder,, el jefe suggest me to take a starfield
You should try the 30 dollar Blon03, its unmatched in terms of price/performance ratio
Not really. A KZ ZS10 Pro matches it and exceeds it.
Jade audio ae3 is better. About the same price. I bought 2 of them. The resolution is off the charts. 13mm dynamic driver and 1 Knowles balanced armature.
Needs a touch more Bass. I'm using them with my Dragonfly Cobalt, so I can only compare them to iPhone earbuds at the moment.
How's the pairing with Dragonfly Cobalt? Is it a good combo?
Id like a little more bass but it works well with my devices.
Will you be reviewing the final a8000? 😁
Any really bright iem you know of?

I like your grading "in the price bracket" approach. Minor observation, given the build quality, design, comfort, why a 9 out of 10 and not 10 out of 10 "in the price bracket"? Doesn't make sense that it is "only" a 9 out of 10 based on your comments just before the grade. If detail retrieval gets 8.5... design/comfort must be a 10.
It would be 10/10 if not for the reports of paint chipping. I also think for IEMs you have to factor in all the accessories, and while the Starfield is fine, it's not as accessory-rich as I've seen.
Can I workout in them? Sweat and waterproof?
@@TheHEADPHONEShow there is noting unfair comparing a 7/100 and a 56/100, they are numbers, that is what they have been invented for
@@amanieux it's unfair if one costs $2000 and the other $110. Again, the reason for this is that I can't expect everyone to recognize that 5/10 is actually really good for $110. If you want that kind of ranking I'd suggest looking at Crin's excellent list.
@@TheHEADPHONEShow comparing apple to oranges is pointless i agree but you can compare the performance/price ratios across price categories in a more meaningful way

They're great imo, I've heard things in songs ive never heard with these but the bass is almost nonexistant and I'm not even a basshead lol...
best iem under 1000?
