Man i'm loving your reviews. Everything looks and sounds professional and classy. I would love to see you review the Sep releasing Philips Fidelio X3 and SHP9600.
Very good review, spot on I say. To date this is the most comfortable IEM I've ever used. Coupled with some SpinFit CP360 I can wear them for hours upon end with no issues, something I can't say about many other IEM's. I've tried to like the Shouer Tape Pro, but they're too big and bulky and long term comfort makes them a short-lived enjoyment. It's almost as if they're trying to escape your ears, meanwhile the Starfield's just sit there. They're pure budget bliss. They look, feel and sound amazing.
My two cents compared to the Tin T4: I had both (I returned the Tin T4's). Why? The T4: - Is a little less bassy, but I feel the speed of the Moondrop is better and I like the slight bit 'extra' there. This adds to the bass tightness and texture on the Moondrops. - Midrange is quite comparable, up to ~2kHz. Here, the Tin's start to shout a little more, and become a little more bloated. Yes, voices often have slightly better detail there, but I didn't find it comfortable at higher listening levels. - Treble is actually not more energetic in my experience, at least not the upper treble. The Tin's have nowhere near the 'air' that the Moondrops do. - Imaging is a strong point for the Tins though. However, the space in which they portray that image is noticably smaller. I think the Moondrop are pretty spacious for an IEM (I'm not one that has heard 300+ $/€ IEMs), so I think the space of the Moondrop is excellent and I prefer that over the imaging of the Tin T4. My recommendation: get the Tin's if you like the upper midrange detail, with better imaging and less bass emphasis. For some string instruments and voices (Amy Winehouse sounded spectacular in the Tins), the T4 is great. But overall, with regards to overall timbre and sense of space, I much prefer the Moondrops. The Tin T4 often sounds more bloated in comparison. When music gets more complex, the Moondrops take the cake.
I got both too and this is exactly what I experience, the only thing I would add is I find it harder to fit the moondrops in my ears, the tin t4s have a really easy fit and its straight forward but I even have to use different size tips for the moondrops? I just dont know why. Also, if you want to tame a little the highs on the moondrops I would consider the tape mod, I feel it more enjoyable that way. I will sell my T4s or have them with me on commutes where I just dont want to risk the moondrops but want a decent audio experience.
Cheers for this! I have the T4s and been wondering about getting these to see if the extra bass helps with metal etc. I do love the T4s though but they do have more treble detail with the Starfield being more in line all round. Gonna have to try them May keep me going before I can buy a Hugo DAC and the Thieaudio L3/L9s. Least it'll give me a test for how I like iems with a bit more bass as I do like mids too and I do like the air T4 gives so if Starfields give more and a better soundstage, I may love them more! I don't have much experience though so how can imaging differ from sound stage? Just being able to pin point better?

Was contemplating between Starfield and Aria, according to most reviews they the starfield have better environment reproduction... Can't wait for this IEM to arrive 😍
Love my starfield! It's definitely the most enjoyable out of all the iems I own. I don't find the cable to be all that great though especially for chifi standards
Ahmad Amsyar Asyadiq Syaiful Bahri no I didn’t replace it because of the aesthetics. However if you go on amazon and search 2 pin iem cable you’ll get many results

Yeah I definitely prefer having the frequency response start to go down at 3k. 4k should be a few dB lower. Personally, I prefer a fairly relaxed, even treble, but that mid-to-treble region is so important to get right for like everyone’s sake,
I got my pair last week. The Starfields absolutely destroy the 1more Triple Drivers I've held on for 2 years. The Starfields in fact dump on most IEMs in the price range they sit on except the BLON-03.
Just ordered. So excited. I love the harmen target curve. It took me many years to realize that. I may try them with some true wireless adapters, like the fio ones, or moondrop wireless bt cable. Just when I absolutely have to go wireless that is. Hehe. Mostly never. Great review, keep it up. Thank you
Sound quality wise I really enjoyed them. Unfortunately I realized soon after I bought them they fatigued my ears very quickly. I attributed this not to the sound signature, but iem in general. My eardrums just don’t like sealed, focused sound being directed at them. guess I’ll just have to carry my big Philips XRH2 open back around until I find a more portable option that sound as good.
9:13 - I totally agree. There is something around 2-3k that makes these IEMs shouty. Good track you can hear it on is Michael Jackson - Why You Wanna Trip on Me . It has a nasty clap at 2-3khz. In these IEMs I cannot listen to that track. It hurts my ears too much. I also agree the issue is hard to describe. It is possible that the impression is due to some imbalance or lack of other frequency ranges.
Most people I've seen say the 2XR. I've nvr heard them. They insert super deep in the ear. Looks like it will hurt. For the sake of ear safety, I'd rather not get them.
A quick tip… the Zh sound in Pinyin is the Chinese initial sound that is very similar to the 'J' sound in English… so in ShenZhen (深圳)it's more like shen-jen, almost like the beginning of Gen-uine or Jenn-ifer. But the tongue is positioned a bit further back in pronunciation.
Hi Resolve, 11.11 is coming and besides some other IEM I am deciding between Aria and Starfield...my heart goes right now more to Starfield what don't you think...✌️ 😁
With the double flange tips, the Etymotic ER3 are super comfortable, and the tuning is near perfect for me. But I keep reading about these Moondrops, so I might check them out. iBasso IT0O or IT01 or Fiio FH1 comparisons anyone?
Just an average consumer but here are my 2 cents. The Blessing 2 sounds a lot better than the original Blessing, much more clarity, energetic sound in general, and doesn't have overpowering Bass. Compared to the Starfield, Blessing 2 has a wider soundstage. A great value for the money.
T4 and Starfield are very similar to my ear. I’m happy with both but the Starfields are my current favorites. Accurate enough, but fun and “musical”. I could not agree with this review more. Great content, thanks!
The Starfield kills the SE215, and the Blon03, they are tight for DD. The Starfield is emphasised right up before it would fatigue compared to a so many other IEMs. They sound like butter in my ears, and are fun to listen to, they are smooth without being muddy. They aren't basshead, but they don't lack bass, if a song has bass, they deliver. They push my LG v20's ES9218P Sabre DAC to full volume (under Normal impedance).
Have you tried different tips? I don't like using foam tips because the starfields will end up as expensive as the blessing2 in no time with all the replacement tips.
When you say entry level IEM you should preface that you can buy cheaper IEMs that are considered more entry level but this IEM is in the area of being classed as a standard for good.
For entry level is Starfield still good? I need something which performs better on the lower end? I’m into bass heavy music. Would Starfield be better or TA legacy 5 be better for this kind of genre? I’m hoping to use ifi hip dac along with this ? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!
your review reminds me of the sennheizer ie40pro in ear, though the sennheiser must have a more v sound, appart from that must be very similar headphones! any chance of comparing them? thanks and keep up the good work!
Jade audio ae3 is better. About the same price. I bought 2 of them. The resolution is off the charts. 13mm dynamic driver and 1 Knowles balanced armature.
I just got a pair, before this, the only IEM I had was the KZ ZST. These don't seem like way better? They sound great for sure but how can people have such strong opinions on such subtle differences?
I like but do not love the Starfield. I keep it not because it does all or most everything right but rather because it does nothing wrong. Yes, it is a bit lacking in air and sparkle at the top. MOONDROP Starfield - few thrills, no spills.
I like your grading "in the price bracket" approach. Minor observation, given the build quality, design, comfort, why a 9 out of 10 and not 10 out of 10 "in the price bracket"? Doesn't make sense that it is "only" a 9 out of 10 based on your comments just before the grade. If detail retrieval gets 8.5... design/comfort must be a 10.
It would be 10/10 if not for the reports of paint chipping. I also think for IEMs you have to factor in all the accessories, and while the Starfield is fine, it's not as accessory-rich as I've seen.
I had these and the TFZ no.3, and I sold these. The No.3 are much more comfortable for me, and more fun. The Starfields felt a little... bland. I like neutral, I have really neutral monitors for work (Pro4S), but the Starfields don’t have enough microdetail to use for monitoring and not enough excitement to compete with the No. 3, nor do they have the surprisingly immense soundstage the No. 3 have.
Love my no. 3. For once, it's everything I wanted and is the easiest to drive on my phone. I'd buy another set of IEMs in the $100-$150 range, but it seems to be hit or miss to buy stuff based on reviews that end being a sidegrade at best. Like this reviewer, gives the kind of info to base buying decisions on.
interesting for me Starfields gave me a huge soundstage, sometimes when I have them on, I always think that the sound is coming from real life rather than earphones
I own both and IMO Starfield is more comfortable for long sessions, less sibilant (less cringing when treble becomes present in the audio which results in a much more enjoyable listening experience), and has more of a sound stage. The DMGs have a more present bass but it is not 'punchy' IMO the Starfield bass is more enjoyable (the DMG's bass sounds 'muddy'). To be honest they each have a different sound from one another. They both sound good, but the Starfield's have a crisper sound IMO. The Starfield's require a better amp/dac to push them which my Fiio Q1 MkII barely accomplishes.
Is Hifiman Deva review coming? I know you already made a brief comparison to Sundara, but would be nice to get some in depth review and comparison. Many thanks and jeep up the excelent work
I find that none of the headphones I buy are ever load enough. I hate to use that term in the comments section of such a detailed review of the sound quality on these IEM's. If anyone can help with input I'd be grateful.
You mean none of your headphones are not loud enough? Then you might need some additional power. Which headphones do you use and what do you use them to pair with?
Because they're Crin's haha. If anything I'd rather point viewers in the direction of his site to see his graphs there than put one in a video and have someone falsely assume we're affiliated or that I'm responsible for them. I'm well aware they're watermarked, but not everyone considers that. I'm looking into better measurement systems for IEMs at the moment, so when I get that figured out I'll be able to show my own.
@@schizophreniclizard5917 That's okay, everyone's got different tastes. Starfield has the most accurate (not musical) soundstage out there and is just fantastic for so many things that it's easy for me to look past the cold coloring of the sound.
@@BaptizedTTV If you like the starfields, you might like the blon bl-03 as it's kind of a warmer neutral but similar to the starfield, and for only 25 bucks. A good backup perhaps. They also are completely metal and come in a suspiciously starfield-like sparkly purple colour as of recent.
@@BaptizedTTV I wish it was my first one and not several IEM's and headphones in, I'd give away ones that cost a fair bit more than these before I give away the blons, I've been telling all my friends and family that don't even consider buying anything else but it unless you have a lot more to spend on something better.
I can't comment on those because I haven't heard them yet, but from what I hear the only other one worth looking into at the moment at this price would be the Tin Hifi T4. Again, not something I can confirm for certain though as I haven't been able to compare side by side. I think that's the only way to know.
I personally feel the tin t4 is a better option. I heard them both. And imo where the starfield excels is the soundstage over the tin t4. Maybe has 20-30% more soundstage than t4. Other than that nice review mate.
@@ruzlan369 Drivers are fine, I've never had drivers breaking on me. 90% of all breakage came from the cables. If you're getting these don't throw them in your backpack or the paint will chip.
Working out with IEMs is never preferable. They're not designed to be sweat/ water proof, and not suitable for rigorous activities. It's a bummer but like many, for workouts you'll have to look into consumer options like Powerbeats pros or other Sports earphones.
I don’t think you have experienced a fantastic cable if you say this one is. Spend 30 bucks on a tripowin cable and you know what a fantastic cable is.
I was pretty surprised when he said the cable was great. I have this pair of IEMs and I find the cable to be pretty disappointing vs the rest of the build quality. It is flimsy, tangles and has no chin slider. I'll be replacing it for sure.
@@tonyynot484 Yes, I do. At first I wasn't all that impressed since the IEMs are fairly neutral but after using them everyday for over a month they really grew on me. They are quite heavy since they are metal but now that I am used to them I have to say I really like the fit and the tuning. I received the Blon 03's the same week. Initially I was drawn the the Blons for the nice low end and overall sound (which is great for the price). But the Starfields are a much better fit.

Not really. A KZ ZS10 Pro matches it and exceeds it.
Jade audio ae3 is better. About the same price. I bought 2 of them. The resolution is off the charts. 13mm dynamic driver and 1 Knowles balanced armature.
When you say your final score is weighted, how do you weight the individual scores?
I just got a pair, before this, the only IEM I had was the KZ ZST. These don't seem like way better? They sound great for sure but how can people have such strong opinions on such subtle differences?
They're great imo, I've heard things in songs ive never heard with these but the bass is almost nonexistant and I'm not even a basshead lol...
Great review. Similar to what I had with Starfield. Btw, you can try their blessing 2 too. They are great too ;)
I tried it at CanJam, loved it.
I just got mine and the included ear tips don't even fit. Why did they ship with it when I can't even use them?
Do they sound better than m50x??
Great review 🎧🎤🎸🥁🎶
ibasso 1t01 vs this moondrop? which is better sq
very good review
I always find IEM crushing my antitragus, wonder if this does that
waiting for your review about KXXS Moondrop
Like this reviewer, gives the kind of info to base buying decisions on.
interesting for me Starfields gave me a huge soundstage, sometimes when I have them on, I always think that the sound is coming from real life rather than earphones
better starfield or bgvp dmg?
I enjoyed watching keep it u!! Keep in touch 😍👌
Beautiful
Hey i wanna know what you think about tin t4 for the sound.
Is Hifiman Deva review coming? I know you already made a brief comparison to Sundara, but would be nice to get some in depth review and comparison. Many thanks and jeep up the excelent work
Is this good for rock music?
How does this compare to the bqeyz spring 1? Anybody who has heard them both?
I’ve never used IEM’s Will they work with iPhones and iPads?
Will work with anything with a headphone jack
if i use this with the ifi xdsd will it widen the soundstage?
I find that none of the headphones I buy are ever load enough. I hate to use that term in the comments section of such a detailed review of the sound quality on these IEM's. If anyone can help with input I'd be grateful.
You mean none of your headphones are not loud enough? Then you might need some additional power. Which headphones do you use and what do you use them to pair with?
Get the KZ ZS10 Pro, much better than the starfield for half the price. 👌
Not really but it can.. The giant which is not only price giant but also quality giant will not be affected ..
Why don’t you just use Crin‘s graphs in your IEM reviews?
Because they're Crin's haha. If anything I'd rather point viewers in the direction of his site to see his graphs there than put one in a video and have someone falsely assume we're affiliated or that I'm responsible for them. I'm well aware they're watermarked, but not everyone considers that. I'm looking into better measurement systems for IEMs at the moment, so when I get that figured out I'll be able to show my own.
What are those tweezers for?
Yes dude! Moondrop Starfield is at the top of my personal favorite headphones list, surpassing the 1k+ models even
I don't think I could say the same.
@@mikafoxx2717 yep! I was telling everyone to buy the BL-03 before any other reviewer. They're great!
@@BaptizedTTV I wish it was my first one and not several IEM's and headphones in, I'd give away ones that cost a fair bit more than these before I give away the blons, I've been telling all my friends and family that don't even consider buying anything else but it unless you have a lot more to spend on something better.
Any idea how it stacks up against Drop + JVC HA FDX1 or the Ikko OH10?
I can't comment on those because I haven't heard them yet, but from what I hear the only other one worth looking into at the moment at this price would be the Tin Hifi T4. Again, not something I can confirm for certain though as I haven't been able to compare side by side. I think that's the only way to know.
The HEADPHONE Show Yes, you cannot confirm the rumor.
Needs a touch more Bass. I'm using them with my Dragonfly Cobalt, so I can only compare them to iPhone earbuds at the moment.
How's the pairing with Dragonfly Cobalt? Is it a good combo?
Id like a little more bass but it works well with my devices.
I personally feel the tin t4 is a better option.
I heard them both. And imo where the starfield excels is the soundstage over the tin t4. Maybe has 20-30% more soundstage than t4.
Other than that nice review mate.
Nice, I was scared you'd say the tin's have more soundstage. Already waiting for my starfields lol.
how are their longevity? i read on amazon i think that for some of them the left side dies after a few months or within a year
Had them for two months and the paint started peeling...
@@wyw201 that's sad. What about the drivers themselves?
@@ruzlan369 Drivers are fine, I've never had drivers breaking on me. 90% of all breakage came from the cables. If you're getting these don't throw them in your backpack or the paint will chip.
Can I workout in them? Sweat and waterproof?
@@Adam3411 do you like the sound of your iem ?
@@tonyynot484 Yes, I do. At first I wasn't all that impressed since the IEMs are fairly neutral but after using them everyday for over a month they really grew on me. They are quite heavy since they are metal but now that I am used to them I have to say I really like the fit and the tuning. I received the Blon 03's the same week. Initially I was drawn the the Blons for the nice low end and overall sound (which is great for the price). But the Starfields are a much better fit.
I don't really like the cables tho they are a bit too thin to me
