“Why didn’t you just kill me!” “You don’t fear death. You welcome it. Your punishment must be more severe.” The writers of this trilogy truly understand Batman.
Actually no, they dont. They give him 0 detective work, he fights horribly, his batsuit is hilarious to look at, he's portrayed as a dumbass, not a genius he originally is
Knock /Da Deathstroke As far as detective skills, you’re right. They did not emphasize that side of him or really address it at all. But the fact is that there are multiple sides of Batman. They chose to tell a story which shone light on his soul. His skill set was something he acquired, as all of us do in our lives. It does not make him essentially who he is. It just makes it what he does, what he is able to do. Not what defines him. In the comic books/graphic novels/cartoons, he learned how to be an escape artist. That does not mean that’s who he is down deep. It’s just what he does. In the films, it’s a character study of a man and what he does when the faults of society come knocking on his door at a young age and how he adapts, which is essentially the story of Bruce Wayne in a nutshell. As far as fighting, the choreography in the second film was a bit clunky but the first film was cool and the editing was choice. Plus, the Keysi fighting method is hard to learn, harder to master but in the end extremely effective to wield. As a side note, here’s hoping you and those you care about stay safe and healthy in these crazy times.
Knock /Da Deathstroke Plus, in the Dark Knight Batman did showcase that his forensic skills are better than Gotham PD’s. So they acknowledged he does that that skill set, they just didn’t emphasize it.
B C 08 Yeah Da Deathstroke doesn’t know what he’s talking about. DK showed off his detective/forensic skills when tracking down Joker from the bullet/fragments. Granted they didn’t delve deep into that world as much as the Arkham series games or Batman TAS but they still made it a part of his story. Hopefully Matt Reeves’ Batman explores it more in depth

Imo this is the best comic book movie trilogy of all time. Every movie is at least very good. My ranking would be 1. TDK 2. BB 3. TDKR. But I still love all of them, each movie brings something different and unigue to the table each movie is just really well crafted and dealing with very good themes.
Every film in this trilogy is a masterpiece, IMO. I can never pick a favourite out of them. Batman Begins is one of the greatest origin stories out there. The Dark Knight is regarded as the best comic book film of all time, for good reason. Rises brings the stakes to another level, and is criminally underrated. Love them all!!!

Bane, just by putting his hand on your shoulder creates fear.. and enough said about the joker. i want matt to understand the time when the movie was created and how most of the action is real not CGI so like understand the effort made to make that shot. the trunk flip, the areoplane drop, etc so many historic shots which make this trilogy amazing.

“More dude interest”? I hate it when people say stuff like that! There is no such thing as a chick flick or a dude flick. They are movies and are meant to be enjoyed by all. When I was a kid I used to be called a girl for liking the color red. Don’t Gender assign things!!!
Nigel idk dude in today’s day and age? I have a lot of girl friends and girl cousins who love the Nolan trilogy. But I hear what you’re say it just irritates me a little when people say that something is mostly meant for girls/boys which is what I got out of what she said. P.S. thank you for leaving a respectful reply, a lot of people on here see something they disagree with and just jump the gun so thank you for being cool about it! 👍 you’ll forever have my respect! ✊
The Dark Knight trilogy is one of my favourite trilogy's of all time! I knew Matt would like this one. Love the channel! Keep up the good work Holden.👍 I'm really exited to see what movies you are planning next! This is my ranking of the trilogy: 1. The Dark Knight 2. The Dark Knight rises 3. Batman begins
@@peterhall7230 Maybe more so recently but I remember TDKR being second most liked more a few years ago. A Christopher Nolan Facebook page I'm on did a poll for ranking his films and it came above Batman Begins.
What I think I love the most from the Dark Knight is the line the joker leaves about a truck full of soldiers getting blown up. The theory out there being that the Joker used to be a soldier possibly even CIA which would explain why they have no background information on him, but that he is suffering from survivors guilt. All of those random stories he tells about how he got those scars could have been things that different members of his squad dealt with but slightly warped. I'm glad they never fully out right explain his back story but leaving some subtle clues as to why he is the way he is really brought the Joker from a clown in a comic book to this insane mass murderer that you could believe is possible to exist in our own world.
when he said todays sponsor i thought to myself "dont say raid shadow legends, dont say raid shadow legends." and then he said raid shadow legends and i just went "frick"
“It isn’t who you are underneath, it’s what you do that defines you.” To me, the point of this is that we all have this idea of who we are, and have these ideals or notions in our head that we feel drives us and defines us... but that may not be accurate to what your actual actions are, and how other people see you. You may not actually practice what you preach, but you delude yourself into thinking you’re a good person because you think about yourself a certain way. Perhaps you hide who you really are or want to be because you’re afraid to actually act upon your convictions. You might have a good heart and good intentions, but if it doesn’t actually manifest in your actions, it doesn’t matter. It reminds me of a Louis CK bit where he felt like a good person just because he thought about giving his airplane seat to a veteran. He didn’t do it, but he felt good because he thought of it. lol
Its promoting utilitarian philosophy. Its not your intentions or internal motivations but the outcome or externalisations of our actions that we are judged by- I don´t agree personally but still an interesting way to discuss that idea.
YOU DIDN'T WATCH IT IN THE RIGHT ORDER!!!! YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO WATCH IT The first half of Dark knight rises then watch batman begins and the first half of the dark knight. Then watch the next 20 minutes of the dark knight rises Then you finish the Dark Knight and the dark knight rises! WHY DIDN'T YOU DO IT IN THE RIGHT ORDER!?!?!?
That moment when you realize, after years of blind stupidity, that "Gotham" has the word "goth" in it, which is why it's such a dark and brooding city. *How and why have I never made that connection before?*
@@CrossHarry maybe instead of trying to be a smart-ass, perhaps try read properly. The OP is stating The Dark Knight Trilogy is the best comic book movie SERIES, so it can definitely be compared to the MCU.
For some reason, I have a scene burned into my memory of Heath Ledger's Joker in Arkham Asylum after the credits of Dark Knight Rises, like, he had a visitor (it was a girl, might have been Harley), and he was clad in orange and everything. I don't remember much of it, because it happened when I was really young, but it's burned into my memory, and it wasn't in any of the movies.

But as a symbol… as a symbol I can be incorruptible. I can be everlasting." - Bruce Wayne Best quote of the series and any superhero movie ever
Hey there was a mistake when you said “the dark knight, one of the greatest comic book movies of all time.” It IS the greatest comic book movie of all time.
Fun Fact: When the explosion weren’t going off and he kept pressing the button that was actually improvised and the explosives weren’t going off how they were supposed to which is why Heath Ledger gets scared and jumps back a little because it legit scared him because he thought they weren’t gonna go off and that it was broken so he kept pressing the button and then BOOM out of nowhere so it scared him and it was such a good take that Christopher Nolan used it for the movie
@Belland _Dog yeah, that would make perfect sense. But for someone who doesn’t ever watch movies or care much about them, it would also make sense to be able to pick him as your favourite superhero without ever having seen them. Batman was plenty popular and many people’s favourite before the Nolan trilogy ever existed. For all we know, Matt could be basing his opinion on Adam West alone. Ka-pow.

I know how your friend feels! I’ve JUST watched it for the first time as well and loved it! I did a reaction and it was so fun!
Imo this is the best comic book movie trilogy of all time. Every movie is at least very good. My ranking would be 1. TDK 2. BB 3. TDKR. But I still love all of them, each movie brings something different and unigue to the table each movie is just really well crafted and dealing with very good themes.
Nail on the head
HeyIamNick 100% agree
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!
@Batflip 09 True
Matt: "He doesn't disappear"
Gordon would say otherwise
Reece McAra can you subscribe to me
how can someone not have seen any of these movies that are widely well received
...but the dog at 13:28 turning his head to look at bane is so funny lol
even the dog is scared of that mo fo...
13:54 your dog looking up at the video above is priceless! LOL!!!
I know this is the wrong franshise, but "I've been looking forward to this"!
a hero is only as good as the villan and man did the dark knight and rises have great villans.
Heath Ledger as the Joker gave me goosebumps with how sensational he was in the role, such a loss to us all
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOREVER LET'S GO
Its nice to see Matt enjoying some more movies.
I love this trilogy so much! - I love these videos - it’s great entertainment.
Thank you Ross!
Holden Hardman no problem! Keep up the good work! Any ideas to what Matt will watch next?
Honestly I just started watching your channel. I really like movies. I love showing movies to people I care about so your videos hit close to home. Thanks for the content I really looking forward to you guys watching the MCU.
I really loved Dark Knight Rises.
Wow good timing. When the cop tells Robin he might have the wrong animal there. Yo dog was smelling the camera lol
“More dude interest”? I hate it when people say stuff like that! There is no such thing as a chick flick or a dude flick. They are movies and are meant to be enjoyed by all. When I was a kid I used to be called a girl for liking the color red. Don’t Gender assign things!!!
Exactly! She got me tight with that
She’s not gender assigning, men just have more attraction to this type of movie. Doesn’t mean girls won’t enjoy it tho. It’s just statistics man
I mean who cares really
Nigel idk dude in today’s day and age? I have a lot of girl friends and girl cousins who love the Nolan trilogy. But I hear what you’re say it just irritates me a little when people say that something is mostly meant for girls/boys which is what I got out of what she said. P.S. thank you for leaving a respectful reply, a lot of people on here see something they disagree with and just jump the gun so thank you for being cool about it! 👍 you’ll forever have my respect! ✊
Professor Buffon well I’d be lying if I said I don’t care. It’s just I think we’ve come a long way since “chick flicks” Ect. But that’s just me
Great video guys. Really enjoying the 'my friend watches series', keep it up!
I'm surprised that Matt made no mention of the Magic Rope that fixed Batman's back...;p
I think what sets this apart from other superhero movies is the villains. They’re the drive of the movies, and they aren’t simple villains
The Dark Knight trilogy is one of my favourite trilogy's of all time! I knew Matt would like this one. Love the channel! Keep up the good work Holden.👍 I'm really exited to see what movies you are planning next!
This is my ranking of the trilogy:
1. The Dark Knight
2. The Dark Knight rises
3. Batman begins
Thanks so much! That's my same ranking too.
@@peterhall7230 You are not the only one😉
@@peterhall7230 I'm the same. TDKR is generally the second most liked in the trilogy.
These are just so entertaining for some reason
«You might have the wrong animal there sir» Dog comes in front of the camera
when he said todays sponsor i thought to myself "dont say raid shadow legends, dont say raid shadow legends."
and then he said raid shadow legends and i just went "frick"
First Raid Shadow Legends sponsorship that I actually watched all the way through, and you guys deserve it!
“It isn’t who you are underneath, it’s what you do that defines you.”
To me, the point of this is that we all have this idea of who we are, and have these ideals or notions in our head that we feel drives us and defines us... but that may not be accurate to what your actual actions are, and how other people see you.
He didn’t do it, but he felt good because he thought of it. lol
AWS Vids eccentric explanation
Its promoting utilitarian philosophy. Its not your intentions or internal motivations but the outcome or externalisations of our actions that we are judged by-
I don´t agree personally but still an interesting way to discuss that idea.
YOU DIDN'T WATCH IT IN THE RIGHT ORDER!!!! YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO WATCH IT
The first half of Dark knight rises
then watch batman begins and the first half of the dark knight.
Then watch the next 20 minutes of the dark knight rises
Then you finish the Dark Knight and the dark knight rises! WHY DIDN'T YOU DO IT IN THE RIGHT ORDER!?!?!?
"He doesn't disappear" hah
How has this man gone through life without seeing this, star wars, LotR, spider-man... it boggles the mind!!
That moment when you realize, after years of blind stupidity, that "Gotham" has the word "goth" in it, which is why it's such a dark and brooding city.
*How and why have I never made that connection before?*
Ayy! Congrats on the sponsorship, movie crew!
The dark knight trilogy is the greatest comic book film series of all time. There just no denying it.
better than the 21 movies in the MCU?
I couldn't agree more. No matter how many movies they make for the MCU, it will never be nearly as good as The Dark Knight Trilogy.
@@lionhead123 last I checked 21 movies wasn't a trilogy
lionhead123 yes, almost all MCU movies are bad
@@CrossHarry maybe instead of trying to be a smart-ass, perhaps try read properly. The OP is stating The Dark Knight Trilogy is the best comic book movie SERIES, so it can definitely be compared to the MCU.
Batmans biggest fear is bats, its 2020 now everyones biggest fear is bats
Bhahahaha very true! Great comment Douglas, put a smile on my face!
Bro whenever new movies come out you should just make videos talking about. You are really good at describing movies like all that philosophy stuff I never noticed
Christian Bale will always be the best Batman
Don’t @ me
He's not the best all of them got something right
"don't @ me" is the dumbest shit, and should get you banned from TH-cam.
Bake is the best Bruce Wayne. Affleck in Dawn of Justice was the best Batman. Affleck in JL barely comes out better than Clooney for worst.

Do jurassic park series
@Black Hole What?
Only the 1st one is good, do Back To The Future trilogy instead
You're forgetting that he may have watched those.
@@tricko8000 Its really not
Black Hole Nah... World 1 is good too
When Matt said Holden had a good haircut, I totally expected him to have full joker makeup.
If you want to try entertainment, watch Deadpool!
Bro that movie is trash . Both of them .
@@jordenrisley6761 no they aren't
This channel needs more subscribers
If Matt does not like this trilogy, he is dead to me.
I found this channel from the Star Wars first time watching and ever since I’ve enjoyed these videos and channel it’s not about how many subscribers a channel has its about the effort and thought that’s out into the videos that makes them what it is.
i may be by myself on this, but.... i’ll say it. The Dark Knight Rises is my favorite but i can also acknowledge The Dark Knight is the best.
I agree with what you said. A number of people believe it's the best in the Trilogy or second favorite. I'm not sure if it's Matt's girlfriend or wife, I'm sorry; but in the video she says it's her favorite. 👍
number 1 joker heath , number 2 joker joaquin , number 3 joker jack
10/10 only came here for the raid shadow legends part
your dog is bloody adorable, give him/her a big hug and kiss
"People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy, and I can’t do that as Bruce Wayne. As a man, I’m flesh and blood; I can be ignored, I can be destroyed. But as a symbol… as a symbol I can be incorruptible. I can be everlasting." - Bruce Wayne
Best quote of the series and any superhero movie ever
You should get him to watch Logan
All the xmen movies

Fun Fact: When the explosion weren’t going off and he kept pressing the button that was actually improvised and the explosives weren’t going off how they were supposed to which is why Heath Ledger gets scared and jumps back a little because it legit scared him because he thought they weren’t gonna go off and that it was broken so he kept pressing the button and then BOOM out of nowhere so it scared him and it was such a good take that Christopher Nolan used it for the movie
“Batman is my favorite superhero” has never seen batman begins or the dark knight rises
Right? I mean... he’s only been in numerous comics, movies, live-action and cartoon shows, books, and video games since 1939.
@@phuctifyno1 Yeah, and the Nolan Trilogy just happens to be the most famous (and well written) Batman content besides maybe only the animated series.
Belland _Dog true. So?
@@phuctifyno1 So if he's your favorite superhero it would make sense for you to see the most popular things he's in.
Ka-pow.
I have been waiting for this!
If your friend didnt show some kind of emotion in any of these....I would have questioned him as a human being. Your friend doesnt like a lot of movies
Really?
Not many people are interesting in movies or just certain types of movies. That's how it is. Doesn't make them less of a human.
Thumbs up for Matt cheering at the end of Batman Begins aka the best Batman movie ever.
