The year after "Oscars So White". It's your standard, run of the mill, generic, Marvel movie. Nothing Original. Just a black cast and crew. Which is fine, nothing wrong with that. But don't say for a second it's better than any of the Captain America's or 3 out of the 4 Avengers. Hell, I'd say both Guardians are better and Thor Ragnarok too. That's my personal opinion, but hey, I'm just a colonizer that hasn't been "fixed" yet.

@@ItzMeWill Yeah, this Spider-Man has been an almost complete misfire at capturing the character's essence. So my emotions towards him have been deadened in apathy. I just stick to _Spider-Man_ (PS4) and the _Spider-Verse_ trajectory now when it comes to nailing the character in the modern day.

There are countless other comic series where they had children and everything was fine. And guess what? They are genuine stories and not a 30 page what if.
2 of the most famous ones include the universe of Spider-Girl, MJ and Peter's daughter taking over for Peter and the fairly recent "renew your vows" in which MJ, Peter and Annie May Parker become a crime-fighting family.
I've always seen the "You're never going to be Iron Man" Scene as more of a: You're never going to be what people _think_ Iron Man is. Happy says it in the scene: "Nobody could live up to Tony. Not even Tony."
The image of the amazing superhero that Peter has of Tony is not who Iron Man really was, and that's why he's never going to be Iron Man. Because _nobody_ can live up to Tony Stark.
To me, the bit after that was more to show that while Peter may not be the Iron Man everyone _wants_ him to be, he is going to be the "Iron Man" that Tony really was. The Iron Man that we got to know in the movies that we've seen, and the Tony that his _real_ friends knew him as.
I might be completely missing the mark here, but that's how I've always interpreted that scene, and it's why I love it so much.
Plus, how else would you have wanted this scene to go? It wouldn't make any sense to have Peter suddenly be completely independent of Tony, even if he's both still in high school, and he has access to this technology.

I like your interpretation and I’ve always seen it kind of a similar way. Peter never will be iron man. It’s not who he is. However, Throughout the entire movie, Peter is seeing photos and memories of Tony literally everywhere. It’s people way of showing the impact tony left behind. But when happy looks at Peter in That scene, we see what kind of an impact tony left on those close to him. So peter sees a world where tony is gone and happy is looking at one of the very reasons tong is still with us. Not because peter is the new Tony, but because tony left a lasting impact in these characters.
I totally agree, I didn't see it as them trying to have their cake and eat it, Happy tells Peter he'll never be Iron Man, and that even Tony couldn't always be him - so the next bit, with the holo gauntlet, I didn't view as them saying LOOK HE IS JUST LIKE HIM, it was for Happy I think, like with Morgan's cheeseburgers, it's just a tiny glimmer of his lost best friend living on.

I think Tony Stark's death is MCU Spider-Man's "Uncle Ben" moment. That's why MCU Spidey didn't need to show his death. Stark's death works just as well for Spider-Man losing a mentor on a more personal level.

I've always thought it was a thing where he's developing it, but it's not something that just outright says 'You're in DANGER PETER!'. He still has to recognize what he's feeling. Or something. I'm not overly attached to that kind of thing though, so that's just how I loosely translate it.

I had such an issue with this MCU movie because Nick Fury didn't feel right. Then when they revealed they were skrulls at the end... I was like "wow! alright, alright, alright". That subtle thing made me like it more but also more questions.
They've done Nick Fury dirty since Age of Ultron.
I'm not at all a fan of how they've been writing hims as an incompetent fool in the recent movies, I miss the badass, comic accurate Nick Fury from Winter Soldier. The guy who would fake his own death because he knew shit was getting too risky.
@@marvelfannumber1 his incompetence and carelessness can be explained in both Captain Marvel and Far From Home, though: in CM he was younger, fresher, not weary and experienced and paranoid yet, and in Far From Home it was Talos the whole time, and iirc these are the only movies he features heavily in post AoU. I hope when they explore the SWORD plot in a later cosmic movie that they get him right though, I personally don't even think he was at his best in Winter Soldier lol, I prefer his roles in Iron Man 2 and Avengers
marvelfannumber1 How did they do him dirty in Age of Ultron though? He had to keep a low profile after faking his death since there could’ve been leftover Hydra people. Only other movie he was in was Cap Marvel, and that before he even became director of shield so it doesn’t really count. In Age of Ultron he came back to being the team closer together, just like in Avengers. Only this time he doesn’t need to stick around and babysit them.

It is only a question of how long we are willing to not accept living with the consequences. we can't keep living in isolation an lockdown over something that affects primarily the weakest... at some point we will have to chalk it up as yet another fact and risk of life and move on...

I think you truly have to be a "Spiderman" and maybe even comic book fan to enjoy it. It's not like Black Panther where there's some higher themes or anything really, it's just supposed to be a fun Spiderman film. That being said I think Mysterio was super well done unlike what she thought. Jake brought the sliminess of the character to life while still making him likable as well. Just maybe not for everyone besides people who really enjoy Spiderman and comics

My dad just passed away couple of weeks ago and this is one of the things which make me feel like I'm okay..I'm fine. The opinions you guys give after the reaction are really important which get applied in the real world for me. Especially Matt because of his 'Mental Fitness' motto. Personally don’t understand how people like FFH more than Homecoming. I enjoyed FFH, but it felt like a mid tier MCU movie. Just OK. Homecoming had a more heartfelt story and a more engaging villain
Homecoming is objectively better from a writing and filmmaking perspective. That said, I appreciate why people may like FFH more.
sudha bhatt I agree that the action in FFH is great! I really dig the final Vulture fight in Homecoming though. Overall I just found that FFH has a lot of characters that feel like characters as opposed to people. They made everything a joke. Spider-Man can be funny, but it’s okay to get serious too.
For me, FFH was mid-tier at best; it's better than the dregs like Black Panther, Thor 2, and Captain Marvel, but it's just not top-tier. The villain was compelling, the action was pretty solid, and the humor was good, but the plot was - as Matt put it - convoluted and incredibly contrived. These are planet-level threats and yet NONE of the Avengers show up to ANY of them? Not even War Machine?! America's attack dog, as the Mandarin put it?! No Iron Legion, no Veronica/Friday, no S.H.I.E.L.D. except for two lazy imposters, no Pym people, no Wakandans, no Falcon, no Bucky, no Hulk, no Thor - no Dr. Strange?
I give it a 6, and that's being generous because I _do_ still enjoy it enough to overlook its flaws.

My only problem with this movie is that Peter's love for MJ comes out of nowhere. In Homecoming he barely noticed her and now he can't stop thinking about her. What the hell happened? But I still love this movie
I guess it has to do with the time jump off screen. Homecoming was in 2017, and tecnically the events from Far From Home happen several months after the events of 2023 in Endgame...

I liked that they made Peter understand the weight of responsibility and consequence more. I felt that was heavily missing in the first film and I think Raimi’s SP2 nailed that aspect. I liked Beck and his charm and thought they nailed the broken look of Peter when he stopped the gunshot. Heaps better the Homecoming. 8.5/10
Yea! The responsibility aspect was the main thing holding Homecoming back for me, it didn't feel like it had much weight, but I think they did a good job of giving it gravity in this one
My biggest gripes with the MCU Spiderman films are that all the villains kind of have a bone to pick with Stark, not Peter. I hope in the third one they start bringing proper motivations to do with Spiderman not Stark.
@@hardcoreLazors yea I think that FFH was in some ways supposed to resemble a send off point into a more solid, independent Spider-Man so if a future villain isn't Spider-Man-focused then they'd be backpedalling big time
KuorivaBanaani Well many of Spider-Man villains normally have gripes with other people before they have gripes with Spidey himself due to the whole neighborhood hero thing (even looking at Spectacular Spider-Man, most villains had a problem with Osborn beforehand) so I just see the same way, they enter the scene with a different problem but once Spidey stops them they turn all their anger on him

Probably one of the greatest movie I ever watched but It had probably the worse marketing at that time and nobody got to love it the way I Did at that time
I think the “you’re never going to be Iron Man” scene is about Peter understanding he could never live up to the idolized notion he had of Tony or Iron Man, that’s not him, he’s not perfect and he’s coming into his own as a hero. The AC/DC scene right after that is one last “fake out” joke, highlighting the differences between the two of them. While he is building a “suit” like Tony would, his suit is bare basics unlike Tony’s over preparedness and he calls the song’s artists by the wrong name, showing while they have some similarities, they still are different people

Also, taking Tony's creation and making it Beck's invention is a kick in the balls to Tony's legacy; RIGHT after they killed him off, they made him a thief and an asshole. It's retcons like that (like Fury's eye) that make me angry with the MCU.

So, to take Tony's creation from Civil War that he made to help cope with the loss of his parents and retcon it so that someone else made it and he just stole the credit and "gave it a silly name" is a smear to Tony's legacy and doesn't take into account the growth we've seen Tony undertake throughout the MCU up until that point.
It was far from straightforward. Was it easy to follow? Yes. Was it a likely scenario? Hell no lmao S.H.I.E.L.D. keeps tabs on EVERYONE - how tf didn't they know who Beck was or who any of his henchmen were or what they were up to? Where were the Avengers?

Andres Torres I mean usually they have a lot of emotions watching these movies. Specifically Endgame, but for some reason this one didn’t. I was laughing along with some of the audio and they just sat there silent. I love Matt and Jenna too, but you could tell they weren’t digging the movie.

I didn’t like this movie until the mysterio flip. This movie really felt like filler tbh. It wasn’t the worst movie ever. But. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
It's a funny popcorn flick for families but that's all it has to offer.
Really enjoyed this series guys! If you like "ByGone Jim" moments, may I recommend the cartoon series Avatar: The Last Airbender. There's a really great character who's a walking ByGone Jim moment! Don't let the fact that it's a cartoon fool you, it has some of the best writing in any show ever made.

I remember when Spider-Man: Homecoming came out and Jay from RedLetterMedia, while he liked it, his issue was there wasnt enough Sam Raimi weirdness in it in terms of style, which he loved and obviously to be different they didnt have a movie with that tone - which this movie has a bit more of and I can say I enjoyed that a lot, I love Homecoming, but the plot of this movie is interesting to me as its more typical spider man, the death of a parental figure filling him with guilt and responsibility to become a better person and be a hero, so this film nails that and that's why I do enjoy it a great deal. I'm not sure what they'll do in the sequel, cant wait to see how they follow up this cliffhanger

Throughout this series you've all been saying "comicbooks, comicbooks" instead of referencing what DECADE of comicbooks the stuff you find corny comes from. Captain America and Superman being all about truth, justice, and the American way sounds silly now, but we have to keep in mind how historical contexts plays into current contexts, and question where the sensibilities and aesthetics clash, lol.

Honestley far from home is prob one of my least fav in my opinion
I personally LOVE this movie. It is one my favorite mcu and spiderman movies of all time. I have always felt great about Tom Holland's spiderman, he is great casting imo. But having such a compelling and ACTUALLY damaging villain written in a really convincing way and AMAZINGLY portrayed by a gem of an actor who is Jake Gyllenhaal is the highlight of this movie for me. Another aspect of both mcu spiderman movies is their way of showing realistic teenagers. They are relatable 'cause they are real and we've all been teenagers. The dual life of spidey, in my humble opinion, is portrayed very real and relatable in this movie. Going back to mysterio, he is just an AMAZING villain, i really can't emphasize how much i liked mysterio and gyllenhaal playing him. (I lowkey want him to comeback and there are some theories about that.) Anyways it was an amazing journey watching the mcu with you guys but i also can't wait for some change in the genre of the movies 😄 I've seen almost every my friend watches video and i am looking forward to watch some more! 😍 Love u guys 💙
I really like this more than homecoming 9/10. I really can’t wait for the 3rd after this COVID is over. I prefer this MJ over Mary Jane cause her character is better. There are rumors about Miles coming in the 3rd one but idk seems early & Tom said he wouldn’t want Peter to die so Miles can take over.

Little Angel Yeah the reason I mention comic Gwen is because Raimi MJ’s personality and damsel in distress nature came from her. According to the DVD commentary for the first Raimi movie, they originally didn’t want to bring Gwen in, so they skipped her and put in MJ, combining aspects of both characters into one love interest. Weird how nowadays people idolize main continuity Gwen but hate Raimi MJ, despite them being nearly identical in how they act and treat Peter. I guess Gwen got a pass because her neck snapped, so guilt sort of blinded us fans lol
The reason everyone thinks Peter needs so much babysitting is because originally his character was supposed to be the Miles Morales spiderman. And it’s very clear.
Very young Aunt May who was supposed to be the mother. Needing a mentor etc. Peter with Miles. Black love interest. (This isn’t that huge of a point).
That’s why it doesn’t feel like the Peter Parker we know. Because it isn’t. It is is Miles Morales with the name Peter Parker.
Honestly I felt disappointed by Far From Home. It felt so weird to have Spider-Man in HomeComing be “I wanna be just like you” to “I don’t wanna be a super hero anymore”. The arc was done too early and it felt forced

I ADORE this movie. This movie came at a time when I needed it most. This movie is my favorite movie of all time. But I can understand why people didn't like it.

This is my favorite Marvel movie personally, its so much fun. Your guys ratings make no sense, Black Panther which is literally just an okay Marvel Movie 10. You have one of the most fun, wholesome movies and its a 5... Do you understand how difficult it was to make Mysterio believable on screen and not screw the character up from the comics?
Like my god, also the scene where he fights Spider-Man the first time and Peter gets hit by a train, that was visually THE coolest scene Marvel has done to date and its not even close.
