Here are some steps you can take to start your journey: - Family Records: Gather any family documents and talk to relatives for more information. -Church Records: Check with local churches in Goa for baptism, marriage, or death records. -Archives: Visit the Directorate of Archives and Archaeology in Panjim, Goa, for historical records. -Online Resources: Find connections using the Goa govt website. Is there a purpose in getting a Portuguese passport now as it does not allow you to live in the UK? And didn't the Portuguese government put in new restrictions on being able to communicate in Portuguese, letter of employment?? Where would a young person from Goa, go to in Europe with a Portuguese passport?
A Portuguese passport still offers many benefits, even though it doesn't allow you to live in the UK as easily as before. Here are a few points to consider: You are allowed to live, work, and travel freely within the Schengen Area, which includes most European countries. With a Portuguese passport, a young person from Goa can explore opportunities in various European countries such as Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, and others within the EU. These countries offer diverse job markets, educational opportunities, and a high quality of life. For Goans who already have a Portuguese passport, the new requirements introduced by the Portuguese government, such as demonstrating proficiency in Portuguese and providing proof of employment or financial stability, generally do not apply. These requirements are typically for new applicants seeking Portuguese citizenship. If you have any further questions, you can book a free, 20-minute one-on-one consultation by clicking on the link in the description. I am happy to answer your questions in person.

Good to know. I tried to get a Portuguese passport but at that time I got a lot of negativity from some Goans so I made my abroad as a foreign student. It was very difficult as I had a lot of limitations. I was only allowed 20 hours a week but I felt guilty as I always worked 40 hours and went to school. It is so much easier for Goans going on a Portuguese passport and they should not complain. I was always afraid I would get arrested by immigration and took the worst jobs as they didn't bother people there. Such is Life.

Hey bro, my grandmother was Goan born in Africa. My dad (her son) was born in UK. I managed to find her ‘Certificado de inscricao’ which is basically like an old Portuguese passport looking document from 1953 with her picture on it, which clearly shows she was a Portuguese citizen, would I still need her birth teor if I have that? I need to register my father before I can register myself. Just wondering if I still need birth teor if I have her Certificado? Thanks
Hello, In Portuguese, ' Certificado de inscricao' means 'Registration certificate'. However, the document you found for your grandmother may be valuable as it could be used as an additional document. The Portuguese authorities often require a birth certificate to confirm the details of her birth, especially since the Certificado de Inscrição may not have all the necessary information. The 'Certificado de Inscrição' confirms her Portuguese citizenship, but the birth certificate is usually required to confirm her place and date of birth and her parents' details.
