      Thank you. When I needed to do this ridiculous repair I looked for videos as well and didn’t find a good one or a complete video explaining. That why I decided to make this video to help anybody in the same situation as me.

    Now that you did all this hard work...Dodge/Chrysler has a recall/exteneded warranty on the actuators for 2015-2017 sliding doors (Caravan & Town & Country). Good through 15yr/150K miles

    This is well done but also looks very complicated. I'm thinking of maybe going to the junkyard and just getting a complete door amd switch it out.

    • @RonDIYMods
      @RonDIYMods  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Is not that hard. You just need patience and time. Buying a complete door would be too expensive compared to switching out the part in my opinion.

    My town and country touring plus has a different part on the handle. Everything's the same but the plastic around the handle wraps around the curve of the door, with two extra T15 screws that are inaccessible when the door is locked shut, unfortunately. I'm hoping I can pull off just enough of the panel to move that rod somehow.

    • @RonDIYMods
      @RonDIYMods  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Any updates? Were you able to make it work without pulling out the door panel and mechanism?

    • @kMaxRx
      @kMaxRx 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RonDIYMods no chance to try it yet. I’m at work. I hope so. I’m going to try first where the actuator rod connects to the interior lock switch. And if that doesn't work, I’m going to try using a wire running rod to pull the actuator arm from behind the black panel. I've seen someone hook onto it without removing everything.
      If that doesn't, I'll take off the interior panel and use force on the arm.

      I had the same problem. The two torx screws mount onto the handle itself. How I managed to get to it was by prying back the top of the door panel going towards the back of the vehicle and forceful popping of the clip that is about half way down. Basically you need to start removing the panel from the back. You will then have enough clearance to remove the 10mm bolt around the handle and the 2 silver 20 torx screws. Then the handle and piece that is connect will pry right off allowing you to remove the 2 black torx screws. Hope that made sense. It was a PITA. Now I’m struggle to get the inside panel off that stupid plastic bracket by the actuator.

      Yes, mine has the same motor. You just gotta wiggle it out and angle it towards the roof to clear the door inner support bar.

    Appreciate your video. replacing this part is BS.. you said putting it back in wasn’t that hard… I disagree.. I wish you would have recorded while you was putting it in.. you said you showed how to do it in the video.. but really you just used your hand.. lol. But anyways.. F a door lock actuator! lol.

    Did you happen to have issue with high pitched squeaking from this same door while driving? I have made some adjustments to mine, but I still have some squeaking going on. Thanks.

    • @RonDIYMods
      @RonDIYMods  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, no squeaking for me. The only issue I was having is the door wasn’t locking while locking the car.

  • @kMaxRx
    @kMaxRx 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Now that I see this part (11:46), I think (hope) that if I can just push or pull that metal rod hard enough, it will unseize without having to take all those parts off.
    Will require some kind of strong leverage........ Hm.

    • @RonDIYMods
      @RonDIYMods  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes as you can see mine was seized up with a bunch of dirt and grim only after I took the part up I was able to push it. I didn’t want to risk pushing the rod cause you could bend it. It’s not that sturdy.

    • @RonDIYMods

      It doesn’t close because there’s no power to the door or is the door moving, but not closing. Make sure that all your connections are well and plugged in correctly.

    I’m having issues putting it back on due to the black bar for the window….any ideas

    • @RonDIYMods
      @RonDIYMods  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When putting the mechanism back in, you need to slanted slide it at a angle to make it sit all the way to the back of the door. Once inside the door then you can slide it up into the window track in order to set correctly. If you look carefully to the video, I show how to do it.

      If a black bar, you, you mean the window track where the window slide up and down you have to angle it. You have to put it at an angle and slide it up onto the black bar in order to get it to sit correctly.
