I went with a Din because it was $15 for a yoke adapter. This gives me instant versatility anywhere in the world with my personal kit.
additionally you could replace yoke adapter in case of an issue
Here in North America we call the a clamp yoke

For the first time in years I’m seeing more and more din here in the USA. A-Clamp/ yoke are still dominant but the amount of din i have seen in dive trips in the last few years has increased greatly from years past.
DIN all the way. The DIN is much more low profile, safer, and lighter. Also, most cylinders valves in use by dive operators, even in the US, are simply DIN with a Yolk insert. Super easy to take that insert out and use your DIN regulator. Just keep an adapter in your save a dive kit just in case.
I bought my Apeks XTX200's with a DIN, but after years of never being able to find DIN bottles whilst travelling (and having to carry a 0.9kg adaptor) I swapped out the connector for an A-Clamp. Much happier now
I live in the US and just bought a DIN reg. Most tanks allow you to remove the plug on them to convert them from a yoke to a DIN. But if I have to use a yoke only tank then I have an adaptor to use that converts DIN to Yoke.
DIN is future proof and has no downsides. Most places have an adaptor on site free of charge, so you even don't have to buy one. Just be sure to check with the dive club.
There are downside to DIN, the most obvious one is that you are using your thread to screw into a tank valve that had thousand of thread/unthread before, so if those threads were damaged, even slightly, they can in turn damage the thread on your reg.
Din, it's never failed me, and the number of times I've dived with a group and one of the divers has had to replace the O ring on his/her yoke!
DIN here from Canada. Three reasons, although the weight difference is not one of them:
1) Versatility for traveling. I have a DIN to Yoke adapter.
2) I have bought a HP steel tank although it's not over 3500 psi, I just feel more secure with DIN.
3) Less bulky behind the head.
Hey, cool video. Also we can add that fact if you dive overhead, closed environment DIN is the way, cause smaller as you said and more compact so less option to stuck, (the Yoke has that end part) even though it's a rare case when that part would stuck, but still. (Plus in tech diving it's also DIN always, but those who on that level probably already knows it ;) ).
It's not just overhead, it's lines, netting and assorted garbage as well. Less shit sticking out, less snagging.
DIN all the way. Most cylinders have an adapter ring which you can remove to fit your DIN regulator. For those few third world countries that keep living in the past (like the US), carry a Yoke adapter.

In the america's all the dive outfit use yoke type valve, except for Cuba, so yoke it is for my reg. When diving in Cuba(or Europe) I just carry a tank valve insert. Going from a yoke reg to a DIN tank valve is easy, you just screw in a 5 buck valve insert; going from a DIN reg to a yoke tank valve is not easy unless the valve already has a removable screwed in insert.
DIN is much more convenient and safer, a friend of mine had an o ring failure in the middle of the dive with a clamp, I am not saying it won't happen to DIN but at least it is my o ring which I will be the one who takes care of it.

Diveshop tanks see much abuse, and so do their valves.
O-ring seats on A clamps are damaged half the time, and they only change the O ring if the damn thing falls apart.
I hate bubble streams from my 1st stage, even though I know it will maybe cost me 1 bar max at the end of the dive. To some locations I pack my adapter.
When on DIN my 1st stage never leaks. Ever.
Travel I use Yoke, For Diving back home I use a DIN for my High Pressure Tanks.
Always go din. You can add an adapter for yoke but not the other way around
Not entirely true. You can use a ring adapter to fit a Yoke on a 232 bar DIN.
A 300 bar DIN won't take a ring adapter to prevent you from putting a 232 bar Yoke on a 300 bar DIN bottle.

IMO DIN is better in every aspect except it's not as widely used. No point buying DIN if you only go down south and dive tropical.
For me the inconvinient of din is it can stay stuck on the tank and it is harder to place and remove...
Yoann Goas it is very easy to place and to get off, if you follow a simple rule... My instructor taught me this "You gotta just hand tighten the screw... Like a 12yo girl... With delicate fingers.. Who just painted her nails". And thats essentially it... Just tighten it very slightly, the oressure is gonna do the rest... Once you close your tank valve, press the air shower (thats the german term, back button on your regulator) to release the left over pressure, and then you can easily get your first stage off again... It's not hard if you do it correctly

It's all about location for me. I Use A Clamp because North America, Central America and South America only use it.

Put the handle on the tank on the inside. It is only used to lift it when you want to fill it.

Why wouldn't you buy the DIN regulator and the adapter and use those? Higher working pressure ability, cheaper and if you run across a DIN valve on rental tanks your all set. Just seems logical to me...

Tom Meijer Drees well I’m from Australia and most of the tanks there are adaptable but I’m currently working in Mexico and we have some tanks here that can’t be adapted but the majority are adaptable.
DIN. Just do effing DIN.
