hmmm. may i recommend Punggol settlement? ( You can walk to Coney island from there) do take note that the island opens at 7 for sunrise. you can go to punngol settlement in the evening for beer and food too! Near bishan there is AMK Hub mall ( Basement has a newly open Yakiniku Like ( very popular Japanese BBQ and good quality ) thanks for sharing!
@@LinksRoyal Good idea. We've only been out to Punggol a few times, so it would be great to explore more. We also need to do a video specifically on AMK too.
Lived in Bishan for 25 years, my parents are still there. Felt like Bishan was the center of SG, it was just so easy to move around. As a kid I loved exploring the neighbourhood, the small parks, running at McRitchie, fishing in the longkangs, playing void deck soccer, catching a midnight movie at J8, supper with friends at Prata House at Thomson Rd etc. I moved to the West, (Bukit Panjang) after getting married. My wife being a Jurong girl insists that the West is the best but I just let her think that.
You must have seen it change a lot. We lived there for four years and things changed a lot (especially with all the work in park). It is a great place to live with plenty of things to do in the local area too.
most important is safety where ever you go, even in the middle of the night till the next morning, unlike in many parts of the US or in Rome.I can guarantee your safety over here in Singapore.
Bishan used to be a Singapore model town then (80s) and the HDB prices are much higher than many other area. Even Queen Elizabeth visited one of the HDB family here.
Yes! Yishun is the next place we are going to record as we lived there when we first moved to Singapore. Do you have recommendations for places for us to visit?
@@ThatLovellBolandLife the hot spring is park near the air defence camp... The reservoir dam just outside Yishun(won't miss it as is visible on the train ride into Yishun from bishan
From this part of Bishan park, u walk toward upper Thomson Rd. Cross the junction to the other side, walk about 300m, u will reach Lower Peirce Reservoir. This is a beautiful place I am sure u will love it. U can also walk along the reservoir side with beautiful scenery. Download Singapore StreetDirectory to see better detail of the area u are exploring .
ho ho ho I now know where Rhianne Lovell-Boland is coming from, in SG. Rhianne is a newscaster with SPH Radio, right? Almost everyday i listen to SPH radio OneFM and when it is news time, Rhianne would come on air to deliver the brief news and I often wondered who is this pleasant sounding woman delivering the news. So now the mystery has been solved after seeing your name at the start of this video. Enjoy your stay in Sg both of you.
there are so many yummy places to eat in Bishan... why don't you go for the noodles in the cafeteria above the bus interchange? affordable and great portions!
@@ThatLovellBolandLife I encountered this problem before: when I'm on my PC, there will be no human sound. I reckon you guys were on handphones or tablets?
A few decades ago the whole of Bishan was one of the biggest Chinese cemetery in Singapore. It is so unimaginable how it has been developed to what it is today with the condominiums, HDB flats, MRT, schools, parks etc. It is a very popular town and its house are one of the most expensive around.
There is a very nice Taiwanese Movie "The Great Buddha +" 大佛普拉斯”。May need help of English Subtitles to understand its content, is about social class struggle, and the filthiness of the rotten politics.
What heartland should we visit next? Send us your recommendations

Everywhere is good not only In Bishan
Beautiful city
One of the best in the world!
i miss this place🇵🇭❤️🇸🇬
Bishan is such a wonderful place! When did you last visit?
Kong Meng San is a buddhist columbarium as well. It's nice to be respectful, sometimes there are cremation ceremonies taking place on certain days.
welcome to my hood, a Bishan resident for over 30 years.
Thanks. We love it here!
Really nicely done 👌
Thanks BZ!
the way you present this episode is so soothing that i wish the video would go on for 3 hours!
Thanks John. Maybe we can make our Yishun video (next in the series) a little bit longer.
Best park in the heartlands in SG as far as I’m concerned.
We love Bishan-AMK park. It's so nice to walk around in the evening, seeing all the families, the cyclists, the dogs etc.
Awesome guys!! One of our fav places and cant wait for the series ❤️
We love Bishan too. One of the best places in Singapore
Well done. You are really into our heartland ! 👍☺️
+PH Lee We love Bishan. Next stop on our heartlands tour is Yishun!
Bishan used to be a Singapore model town then (80s) and the HDB prices are much higher than many other area. Even Queen Elizabeth visited one of the HDB family here.
Wow. Didn't know that the Queen had visited Bishan. HDB prices have rocketed in Bishan in recent years.
Planning on going to Yishun for soon?

Welcome to Sg. The Food Centre at Blk 341 Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 opposite the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park offers great variety of hawker food.
Thank you! We are yet to film an AMK video so might have to explore when we do. Thanks for the suggestion.

Allow me to recommend Tampines with Tampines Eco Green, there are some construction now around but still pretty nice.
Thanks for the suggestion! I don't think we've ever explored Tampines in the near 5 years that we've lived here.

Thanks for the suggestion Gary! We tried the lamb shank biryani in AMK and loved it!
Thanks Gary. We haven't been to that hawker centre in a long time. Well worth a visit again soon.

Yeah. It is crazy when you look back at old photos and see how much it has developed.
