    I met Les on this tour. I think the band TAD was opening for Primus and Les was just in the audience leaning up against a pole with braided mohawk watching the show. I really don't think anyone else recognized him? Hard to believe. Being really into fishing at the time I asked him "Did you really catch 100 pound sturgeon on 30 pound test?" and he replied, "No, my dad did". Later I got to read the lyrics and realized I should have known! It was a rowdy, sweaty, beautifully painful show. Saw a guy in the restroom trying to look at the top of his head in the mirror, he asked if it was okay, all I saw was about a three inch split to the skull, from contacting previously mentioned pole... Good times.

    I will never cease to be amazed by this band! Les's playing is phenomenal, Ler is underappreciated and Tim kills it as usual. It's like a guitar, bass and drum solo played in unison. So complicated, yet it sounds so loose and dirty. Notice how the audience sang all the songs and the album hadn't even come out yet? There's some true fans! And the best part is there's no Auto-tune!

    Few months later as an errant 31 year old i ended up in California n Arizona on a few months of partyi n stuff and Primus was the soundtrack to several good party sessions along with Nirvana!.
    Fantastic times, still listening n viewing Primus now as a crusty old 63 year old.!

    Primus came along at just the right time with just the right sound , the bay was rockin in the late 80s early 90s, and Primus was ground zero , in my opinion they paved the way for so many amazing underground bands fungo mungo , limbomaniacs, bluchunks,psychafunkapus,dot3,and many more, Mr bungle was already doing their thing but they fit right in to the thrash funk movement, I stumbled across primus in 1989 at the Omni in Oakland ca where they opened for Testament, it literally changed my musical direction, I became like a deadhead following primus wherever they played , I think I have over 40 primus shows I’ve attended, my favorite being the night they played as “CACA” with jay lane and Todd huth playing side by side with Larry and Tim , at the Berkeley square! Thank you for the post this is an amazing moment in music history for sure

    Fukin A..Heard these guys at UCSC.1990..(Santa Cruz)...My friend from South Central L.A..He lived in a dorm, somewhere in '90..He wanted a visit..So, I drove up to the campus, from L.A..He said, " Bring up some of that PCP."..So, I did..Next thing, he gave me some shrooms, and mescaline..Next day, after my high wire off, some dude in the communal dorm kitchen, yelled out, "Too many puppies".. From that, It was history..Then, found out that, Ler, was from the band Possessed! A Classic Deathmetal band, from the mid- Late 80's...Wow..👊

      I thanks my friends for making me a huge fan of all Primus first and second album. Me and 2 of my best friends just smoke a joint or bong(depends of our money, we didn't have a job., I was 18...). But I remember all of that time. Every weekend in the underground club just jumping poko and always a chick to kiss or home and fuck. Best times in my life. So happy I wasn't a mainstream loser. In the start of the 90tees I moved from home and my god(I'm a ateist), but grunge came, Faith no more incl Mr Bungle, Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Butthole Surfers and a lot of good influence from the 60tees music.
      So after 3 years in highschool listening to ALL the 60tees music. I was at library every day to lend both LP's and notes. I❤ music and music, if you don't know, was invented by our brothers, neandertaler. For 650000 years ago a man found a bone a blovt in it. Thanks to the neandertaler who did that 450000 years ago, 250000 years before our human homo sapiens came to life. Evolution not made by a person with long grey hair and beard in heaven. Darwin found out. All objective is the only thing. Subjective is only in YOUR head...

    I was 12 when this was recorded, and also on the opposite side of the country. Who knows what path my life would have set on had I seen this in real time. (Assuming a 12 year old would have found a way to sneak in there.) I eventually found Primus and many other awesome bands of the 90s, including 80s bands that avoided the glam and makeup BS of their time, but it wasn't easy thanks to the crap radio stations in my area. MTV did help, before the drama, when they played actual videos that were not trying to sell you something besides a band's album, but it wasn't fool proof!

    I saw them in Ann Arbor and Detroit in August of this year. It was amazing, and, yes, in a small bathroom of a club.

    Oh my. It’s been a long time. I used to see them often in the 1990ish years. The stone, Omni, cattleclub, etc. It wasn’t until now I see these videos from those puke filled clubs. Good times

    Very possibly the best trio in rock of all time based on virtuosity. They are all incredible players and managed to make interesting music playing stuff that also amazes musicians but can be appreciated just as a song by non-musicians. Nobody has surpassed this as far as I know.

      Would list Rush, King's X, and as obscure as it may seem NoMeansNo (who were playing in the back ground during opening) to your list.

      Zappa?

    • @gleventhal
      @gleventhal 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ZillMob Love Zappa, but he is the opposite of Primus/Trio in terms of making so much music with 3 people, Zappa had 2 drummers and a horn section, an orchestra sometimes.. He did a lot with a lot, Primus does a lot with a little.

    Wish the played a set of just Primus songs like this. Miss the old days. Now, every tour Primus or Les are covering another bands album. I like Rush, and I love Floyd, but I love Primus too. Time for a tour with just Primus songs. And maybe mix in a cover or two to appease Les.
