Thank you for addressing the one thing I find many people don’t…you can’t sit inside someone’s house wearing a trench coat. An outfit can’t depend solely on that outer layer to make it whole, because it isn’t practical to leave that layer on all the time.
This was a better capsule wardrobe video than most. I’ve watched so many, where outfit after outfit they look like they are wearing the same thing! Yours has more variety, so they look like different outfits. Love the colors! You are right about anyone can wear any color-sometimes even a scarf if one of”your colors”. Can help balance. However if the color that’s not one of your best colors is in a large area, people will notice the color and not you when you enter a room! I’m a color analyst and a cosmetologist, and a blood red is one of my colors. It makes my face come alive! The first time I had my colors done the analyst was surprised at what that red did for me!
I’m just discovering your channel and I’m absolutely obsessed with your aesthetic. So classic chic yet you love a pop of color. Love love all your tips, they are *so* practical and the most helpful I’ve found. I’m trying to figure out how to dress my body post two kids and just love all that I’m learning from your channel. Thank you for all you do!
Thank you for such a lovely message, I’m glad you’re enjoying them. There’s a new video on how to accessorise and finish off outfits coming out on Sunday x
Thanks so much for this. It’s so nice to have someone show how to mix and match items to achieve different looks, and explain why some outfits work and others don’t. I never get the feeling you’re just trying to push pieces of clothing from certain brands, leading to over consumption.
Hi Melissa As always such a great amount of practical styling tips for all. I often re watch all your videos as see something new every time. Loving the bright pink colour for this spring. X
You’re an absolute gem and have transformed my idea of being fashionable over 40! Your tips are so practical for any budget. I’m learning a ton that I never considered. The idea of a white base layer in different fabric weights has instantly revolutionized how I shop and dress for spring! A million thanks! I can’t wait to see more of your videos!
Melissa, I have to tell you I am obsessed with your channel I have I normally don’t wear with your hacks and tips on my sweaters have the little elastic band ponytail on them, I even started picking up some of your phrases, like “straight away” I am American. We never say that also “trainers” instead of sneakers, you have motivated me to mix and match coordinate rethink pale colors. Normally I wear a lot of black absolutely love your channel.
I recently found your videos and I can't get enough! You have inspired me to do a total makeover which has then inspired my mom and husband to also re-evaluate their wardrobes! Thank you for being exactly what I was looking for!
Loved all the outfits and I've got most of the neutral pieces so that's given me lots of styling ideas. I've recently bought a cream v neck heart design cardigan so I especially loved the ideas for it so I don't look like the 55 year old granny I am!
Just discovered your channel and love it! Beautiful and practical styling tips for women of all ages. I loved the Spring Capsule video and ordered some of the pieces to round out my wardrobe. This was the first styling tutorial I watched where the concept of owning a similarly structured piece in different fabrics and weights was discussed - this is definitely a piece of information that I will consider each season when considering new pieces. Will be sharing your channel with my friends and coworkers! Thank you!
I wish you were my personal trainer! I live in US. I'm 5'2" petite, average weight. You give so much common sense advice when dressing in style. I like white, ivory and cream tops but I tend to spill a tiny drop of liquid/food on my white top (sweaters not so much) and that's it, I have to throw it out, can get it out even with all the stain removers I try. I love that you like bright pink in your wardrobe. Thanks for this video.
I am crazy for your style ! It is EXACTLY what my life needs………..I have been searching for years for this philosophy of fashion and style and your videos are so easy to understand and follow…. Thanks so much! (I live in the Los Angeles area but still feel that you give so much practical information that I could see how to adapt it to my very different climate!)
Thank you! I do online styling sessions if that’s of any interest to you. Simply visit my website at www.MMpersonalstyling.co.uk/services for more information x
Omg you popped up on my feed and I watched one of your videos this morning and then went out and bought 3 blazers! Looking forward to watching lots more. So informative Thank you.
This is why I love your channel. You show how you can be fashionable, chic and timeless while incorporating a few pops of colors of the season without breaking the bank and having to declutter one’s closet every few months due to over shopping and leading to the fast-fashion issue that’s filling up our landfills etc. Keep it up Melissa! ❤
This so incredibly helpful! I’ve been caught up in the “mommy fog” for a few years now since having my son and now that I’m slowly coming out of it, I feel like all my clothing somehow doesn’t suit me and my lifestyle anymore. It all just feels off and unflattering. But no matter what I buy, it seems I just always buy a singular piece for a singular occasion that doesn’t really work with anything else in my closet. I think this is how I’ll rebuild a wardrobe that feels like “me” again.
THIS! This is so helpful! I never thought about why I can't make outfits and duh - colorful base pieces aren't easy to coordinate. I often avoid buying things that are too similar to another (i.e. same color) without realizing that they should have different purposes. Please do a fall/winter capsule version!
Love your videos and how much information you give. I wear jeans 90% of the time and so do many of the other bloggers I watch so I am really enjoying your content. You're giving me inspiration to wear other pants (not just jeans or black slacks). Your blue blazer and those cornflower blue pants are to die for! So glad I found your channel Melissa.
Finally!! Someone who knows what they are talking about! Can't believe it's taken me so long to find a channel I've instantly clicked with and can relate to. Even after 2 videos I've managed to update my style. Thank you.
“Broken record” suits me- I need the reminders. Was so please to see you had a new video out. What my purse didn’t need was an introduction to Reiss, however I’m loving the quality and look of the few sale items I’ve purchased since I started watching your channel. Could you please advise now on a decent hang held steamer for my newer higher quality items.
I am glad you talked about colours because i think they are game changers. Like instead of pink I look much better in coral, instead of white I prefer off white or cream, instead of cooler beige I am better with camel etc.
Thank You so much for this video and all of your videos. I always learn so much. I have watched this video several times. I paused several times while I mimicked your outfits from my closet. That was so much fun. Thanks, again.
Melisssa thank you for dressing curvy outfits for plus size women! I love to hear of differnt places to shop! Wow you have a lovely personality and a great sense of style!
I have the H&M jumper and I love it. Started to purchase more neutrals recently and have just ordered a Karen Millen stretch cotton shirt in white. Thanks, this video has given me some ideas for my hols in Wales....if it fits in the suitcase!!
This is my favourite video of yours so far. I love colour but it's only recently that I've realised the importance of neutrals to bring all my colourful pieces together. Most of the capsule wardrobe videos I've seen show completely neutral coloured capsule wardrobes.
I'd love a video about how to layer over longer dresses or skirts. I prefer midi/maxi length skirts and dresses but struggle with what to put on top as I find the hemline of the cardigan/jacket can look odd with the longer hem underneath. Love you're videos so pleased I found you, you're a true font of knowledge and explain things in a way that really makes sense. Thank you
I can certainly add it to the requests lists for you. If you watch the body shape master class video (I think it was episode 6) with my mum, then I did a lot of layering over dresses in that. Thank you for watching x
Something cropped (or a shorter cardigan or jacket that hits at the smallest part of your waist) looks great with a midi length dress. Go to the store wearing a midi dress and try on different options and take pics and see what you like.
This is absolutely the most useful and helpful TH-cam channel on teaching viewers about so called capsule wardrobes in such a well articulated presentation. Job well done ! Love your channel and sense of style. Thank you 😊
I just found your channel. I'm 51 and your suggestions are exactly what I need. I have most of these items except for the linen trousers and the wide belt. They are on my shopping list. Thank you!
Very useful video as always. It seems so obvious when you explain it but I would struggle without your excellent advice. Just picked up the navy and cream Zara dress which was featured in your last video and very pleased with it.
Thank you for this very helpful tutorial. I'm very pale and was told never to wear white. I've recently bought a white blouse which has a lovely frilly collar and actually it looks quite good on me and I put on gold coloured jewellry which makes it look great. I also have one white tee-shirt. I was always afraid to wear white, but now I'm glad I did. In your video you have created lots of diferente looks which I really appreciated. xxxxxxx
Oooh, just the inspo I needed …. Will be exploring some outfits with items already in my wardrobe. And, I can see where I have some gaps now too. Thank you Melissa x
Thank you so much for this! It was amazingly helpful and just what I needed. I know I'm not the only one who finds themselves in a new size since the pandemic. I was struggling with putting together flattering outfits that don't age me, and now in one night I was able to choose what I needed for a spring wardrobe. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!! 💖💖💖
Gosh your videos are amazing. My husband built me a room just for my clothes and shoes, but I always seem to be lost when trying to find something to wear. After watching your video today, it's time for me to clean out that room and try for some of these outfits. I'm Italian, so my friends and family are always waiting to see what I'll be wearing. Sophistication and elegance are a must.
New subscriber from the US here. Tremendous information, and bonus, you are adorable! I'm semi-retired but continue to work only part-time at an accounting firm. Because of this, I want my wardrobe to be flexible with pieces that are interchangeable between office and play -- and I want to look fantastic in my clothes. You've hit the nail right on the head! I'm excited to watch your other videos, clear out my closets and go shopping!
Another great video thanks Melissa, as I've been following you for a while, I've already got a fair few of these pieces, you just show me the flexibility of what I can where with what. Your amazing thanks xx
Another great one Melissa ! Thank you so much , you make it look so easy , could you possibly put link for Zara top with sleeves that all your clients liking and the h & m jumper with tie waist . Look forward to your next instalment .
Wow just discovered you and you are the best person for styling on TH-cam by far. I have just recommended you in a fibroid support group, as thousands of women are struggling with their body shapes and confidence due to these beasts x
Thank you for the hint about the deep tight cuff. I have quite severe scarring on my left forearm so never push my sleeves up or wear a 3/4 sleeve. This cuff would work for me.
I love your videos . I’ve been wanting to de- clutter my wardrobe and buy a long lasting capsule wardrobe . I love the fact you put links fir the items xx
Brilliant. I bet that took a lot of work. I have quite a few of the things you’ve shown so I’ll be working my through my wardrobe and creating my own capsule wardrobe. Nearly sent the pale pink jacket back but I’m keeping it now!
All of your videos are so helpful. I just love them. Would it be possible for you to do a video on what to pack for a River Cruise in Europe in September?
that's very specific! I've just loaded a new 'how to develop a summer capsule wardrobe video' and the next one is focusing on holiday swimwear so hopefully between the two you'll be covered! Enjoy your holiday!
I just love your videos. No you don't sound like a broken record! Even though we tend to dress very casually in western Canada, I feel like the design principles could be useful for anyone with any style.
Lovely and helpful as usual ❤️. If I were to get a couple of these pieces, it would be the blush blazer and oversized, elastic sleeved blouse from Zara. Also the side striped pants
Thank you for addressing the one thing I find many people don’t…you can’t sit inside someone’s house wearing a trench coat. An outfit can’t depend solely on that outer layer to make it whole, because it isn’t practical to leave that layer on all the time.
I totally agree!
I totally agree! Especially when you live in a temperate climate like Australia :)
Indeed ! A trench is a jacket meaning you don’t wear it most of the time.
I always think this. Your coat or jacket is almost an added bonus to your actual outfit. (I burn at 1000 degrees so I hate coats anyway)
@@Erica-uq4hx and NZ 😁👍🏽
Melissa is the most practical and sensible stylists that I have come across.
Thank you so much. Ps this is Melissa here - I answer all of my own comments!
You are my favourite channel at the moment. Thank you so much for doing these videos. I love everything you do.
Thank you so much!

Thanks Fiona, will do x

You too Karen x
I am almost 50 and am really having a difficult time deciding what is appropriate. I love this advice!
Thanks so much for this. It’s so nice to have someone show how to mix and match items to achieve different looks, and explain why some outfits work and others don’t. I never get the feeling you’re just trying to push pieces of clothing from certain brands, leading to over consumption.
That’s nice of you to say Andrea, thank you x
Hi Melissa
As always such a great amount of practical styling tips for all. I often re watch all your videos as see something new every time. Loving the bright pink colour for this spring.
X
I simply love this! That cream sweathirt you styled towards the end, simply chic & it's so affordable!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for adding American links. Appreciate it! Very informative video ❤️❤️
Thank you so much for this video! So informative. I love that you take the time to talk about creating flattering silhouettes with each outfit! 💝
Thank you so much Melissa. I love your styling as it’s so practical with lots of tips and inspiration 🥰
Melissa you are by far my favorite stylist on social media. I loved all the outfits.

Yours is quickly becoming my favorite channel. Well done - thanks for all you do for us!
You’re very welcome, thank you for watching x
I love your videos. You explain everything beautiful. The styling is very wearable for day to day life. Thank you
The belt, cream trousers and the tank are my favorite combination. Perfect for my climate and very flattering.
Can't wait for the summer version of this! Thanks so much
It's coming!
I cannot get enough of your videos, you are brilliant and inspiring!

Love your videos and approach to style! Capsule wardrobe videos never get old in my opinion.
Loved all the outfits and I've got most of the neutral pieces so that's given me lots of styling ideas. I've recently bought a cream v neck heart design cardigan so I especially loved the ideas for it so I don't look like the 55 year old granny I am!

Ouch, I hope your bank balance wasn't too bruised but I bet you look wonderful!!!
One of the best channels regarding to fashion on the TH-cam. So happy to find you!
That's very nice of you to say so, thank you so much. x
Thank you for the video! We all heard abot capsule wardrobe like a thousand time, but your way of presenting it is so modern and logical!
Thank you so much 😊
This is why I love your channel. Thank you- your capsule wardrobe is so well edited and versatile.

I don’t use a hand held steamer I’m afraid, just a normal steam iron. X
The Phillips hand held steamer is good. It's not cheap but you can steam a couple of garments before it has to be refilled.
You are brilliant! That column of neutral! Anything can go over it. Love it!
I am glad you talked about colours because i think they are game changers. Like instead of pink I look much better in coral, instead of white I prefer off white or cream, instead of cooler beige I am better with camel etc.
Another great Masterclass! Thank you
Thank You so much for this video and all of your videos. I always learn so much. I have watched this video several times. I paused several times while I mimicked your outfits from my closet. That was so much fun. Thanks, again.

You are wonderful! 😘Thank you for sharing all of your ideas with us. This is the best capsule wardrobe video out there. I’ve learned so much!

This is my favourite video of yours so far. I love colour but it's only recently that I've realised the importance of neutrals to bring all my colourful pieces together. Most of the capsule wardrobe videos I've seen show completely neutral coloured capsule wardrobes.

Very useful video as always. It seems so obvious when you explain it but I would struggle without your excellent advice. Just picked up the navy and cream Zara dress which was featured in your last video and very pleased with it.
Great Lucy, glad you like the dress (and the new video) x
I did the same with the blue dress from Zara 😁 And even though I’m a 22, it fits great in XXL !

Looking stylish and effortless as usual - I love this spring wardrobe.
Thank you!
That’s great, thank you for taking the time to comment and tell me that. It’s really encouraging for me to keep going x
I have the same problem, comfort is important but I want to look good and not older than I am. Great tips and ideas in the video.
You are so helpful and fantastic! So glad I've found your channel. With love from Philadelphia 🥰

Wow, thank you so much Angela, that's so nice of you to do that for me, i really appreciate it. x
Lovely outfits..Loving the colours..x
Thank you for the hint about the deep tight cuff. I have quite severe scarring on my left forearm so never push my sleeves up or wear a 3/4 sleeve. This cuff would work for me.

Just found you and I’m enjoying all you ideas. Thank you o
Thank you for simplifying my spring wear. Lovely job!
Beautifully explained thank you
I love your videos .
Oh good, it’s a beautiful jacket x
Only just found your channel. You have inspired me as due to weight gain feel awful in most things and most wardrobe doesn't fit.
Very good video with very useful information, thank you so much ❤
Glad it was helpful!
This is such a great video. I am working on moving towards a capsule wardrobe and a big part is identifying those key pieces.
Glad it was helpful!
I just discovered your channel! I love how you talk us through the thought process behind your choices! Thanks for the USA links!
You’re very welcome and thank you for watching x
I just love your videos. No you don't sound like a broken record! Even though we tend to dress very casually in western Canada, I feel like the design principles could be useful for anyone with any style.
Thank you 🙏
Always get so much from your videos! Thank you!!!
Love these so much! Total style!!!
I haven’t got a single blazer, but thinking maybe I need one. I do like the m and s one.

Thank you 🙏 summer clothes will be coming shortly xx
Lovely and helpful as usual ❤️. If I were to get a couple of these pieces, it would be the blush blazer and oversized, elastic sleeved blouse from Zara. Also the side striped pants
Love. Love. Love this video!
