You've helped me realize I need to focus on elevated lounge wear and jeans, tee shirts, casual sweaters. That's the reality of what I wear in my retired life living in a mountain outdoorsy community. I'm working on phasing out the "maybe I'll have lots of fancy dinners out" shopping. I have a pair of faux leather pants that are frankly as dressy as it's gonna get! I've been getting compliments that I look put-together and fashionable even in my sweats! Thanks to you they are mostly off-white, beige and navy. I add my white sneakers or lug Chelsea boots, jewelry and a cute off white beanie or baseball cap, throw on my beige puffer jacket and out I go! 💜
❤ congratulations! It is easy to dress well with the helpful strategies from Melissa. Makes us feel great too. Keep up the wonderful work. Intentional dressing, even in outdoorsy casual settings.
You have given me the ability to actually envision myself putting together a capsule wardrobe! Thank you! You're a wonderful speaker and teacher of essential topics! ❤
Absolutely the best video I have seen on this subject. Such a relief to know I can stop searching for the perfect blazer and black trousers which everyone else insists I need but would never fit in with my lifestyle! I am feeling inspired to dive in to my wardrobe and add a few more pale neutrals first then fine-tune the shoe collection 😂. Thank you Melissa, you are an inspiration xx
At almost 50 this is the first time I have heard of a capsule wardrobe explained in a way I can understand. Thank you. When I’m not at work I’m a basic jeans and t-shirt/top kind of girl, or exercise wear. So what’s the point of having a blazer, tailored pants and white shirt when my lifestyle doesn’t match. You have given me the chance to actually think about my colour choices and they are blues, blacks and whites/creams so that’s what I’ll focus on. Just yesterday I went and purchased some new jeans in styles that will suit my(i hope) body shape (hourglass) and will fit in with my lifestyle. Now to just get some more lighter neutral basics and I will be done. I don’t really wear colours but occasionally I like a pop of it so as I like handbags I can use that as a statement pieces as long as it goes with my basics. Once again thankyou for explaining everything. All the way from Australia
Wow! BRAVO 👏The absoltue best info about a capsule wardrobe I've ever read about or seen a video on! I love how you broke it down and emphasized how it should be suitable to our lifestile. I've been working with capsule wardrobes for a few years now by season, since I live in an area with 4 seasons. I still struggled when making decisions and buys for that capsule. I've even bought workbooks to help me! Watching this finally made it click together. Gosh you are just the best. If I could afford you I'd buy your services and all your clothing recommendations, so these free videos are invaluable to me! Thank you so MUCH! Can't wait to watch more from you!
This is THE best video on building a capsule wardrobe I have ever watched. The way you describe everything so clearly makes it so much more doable. Thank you so much. I'm currently binge watching all your other videos too.
Dear Melissa, I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of years and never miss one. For some reason though I’ve still not been able to translate this to my life despite how clear your instructions are. I’m one of those people who walks into a shop and feels instantly overwhelmed, not knowing where to start so I just end up leaving with nothing and ultimately getting nowhere. I feel such dread when I try to shop for clothes and I know it’s an activity that is actually supposed to be fun! As someone who needs to probably replace 90% of my wardrobe and desperate to look put together, I was wondering if you’d consider doing a video on shopping strategies? How and where does one even begin when you feel like to need to start from the beginning? All the best! ❤
Thank you for following us for so long! We're actually filming a video where I take a client shopping with him so that sounds like it could be of some use to you! It'll be on the channel in early February but otherwise it's a 1:1 session so we can get to the crux of the issue or, our Personal Styling For yourself Course. This course takes you on a personalised journey getting you to really look at your body shape, your lifestyle and your styling requirements and giving you all of the tools to make your own styling decisions. Details for both of these services can be found on our website at www.mmpersonalstyling.co.uk I hope some of this helps. x
When I worked I once went to a personal shopper at a big department store. They’re helpful to identify styles and brands that might suit people. You didn’t have to pay for their assistance although I felt I spent more than I might have done on my own. Another tip is identify 2-3 brands that suit you and then when you go shopping ignore the rest of the shops or the rest of the department store. Narrowing down the number of things you look at may start to make decisions quicker and easier over time. Perhaps you could narrow further and find one local boutique that you could buy most of your wardrobe from rather than going into a city or large town. I think we’re over-faced with choice nowadays. My husband used to ask why I had to go into so many shops 😂
Maybe try taking it slow. Go to the store saying you’re going to find a white t shirt, and a pair of jeans that fit properly. The end for that day. Next time go with two more specific items you want to get. It helps not to get overwhelmed:). Hope that helps!
Of all the videos I’ve watching trying to create a capsule wardrobe this one was the absolute BEST one! Thank you for being so thorough. I finally understand how it all goes together.
I retired in 2018 and for several years my wardrobe was full of things i wore to work, smart outfits, business suits and dresses etc. My everyday clothes were crammed in. I realised how silly it was to keep all that workwear. I wasn't going to business meetings or into the office in the City. I felt bad as a lot had been quite expensive. But I saw one of your earlier videos on capaule wardrobes, and I let them go (first charity bag over 80 items and barely made a dent!) and felt seriously relieved. I started to think about dressing for my new life. I have drifted but mainly buying mire than I need as cheering up treats and to be honest a bit of boredom. So this video is such a good reminder. The charity bag eill be making another appearance......😅
You have really helped me over the last couple of years to curate my wardrobe. I mostly wear casual clothes and most of the time nobody really sees me in my everyday clothes but my family. Mi am a full time caregiver to one of my children. What I had a hard time with is outfits for special occasions and when I get a week off and go out of town. I felt I had nothing to wear and the. Reality was I didn’t. I had a mix of things I had purchased over the years that didn’t really go together or didn’t fit anymore. So if something came up I would have to run out and buy something and I would grab whatever fit and then it wouldn’t be worn again and probably didn’t go with anything else I had. The hardest part has been I’m in my early 50’s and about 99% of the time I am having a hot flash and wish I wasn’t wearing anything. 😂. Because of you and your videos I have a better understanding of how to fit my changing body and what will work for me and what won’t. I now have four pairs of neutral slacks of different fabric weights for the different seasons. I have long sleeved and short sleeved neutral tops of different fabrics for the different seasons. I am still working on my shoes. For the most part I am in my running shoes. 😂. Sorry for my rambling I just want to say thank you for all of your great tips and information. I felt clueless about fashion for the last ten years and you have made me feel more confident. 🤗💜🫶🏻😃
The timing of this video couldn’t be more perfect. I spent literally all day yesterday cleaning out more than a decade of clothes, being pretty ruthless. I know I’ve kept some things I shouldn’t and still have too much, but maybe in another month or so, I’ll go through again. I’m fair skinned, freckled, with pink undertones and I always avoid whites, which became evident when I sorted by color after watching this. I have some cream but clearly not enough and most are loose patterns to bring in peaches and browns! Perimenopause has made me a lot curvier in the last few months so I’m going to help myself feel better by shopping for a wardrobe of basics that will flatter my new shape, with help from your videos. Thank you! P.S. I decided that the best justification for getting rid of the “I might fit in that again one day” clothes is that if I do lose weight, that’s a reason to go shopping for new items later and update anything that might be showing its age!
I just spent two days doing the same thing. Did I end with a capsule wardrobe, nope. Impossible for me since I love bright colors too much, but slowly changing my mindset on how to pick the right pieces when shopping to avoid such a massive mess. A whole car full of stuff I’ll be donating. This video what refreshing and encouraging.
Hi Melissa! Thank you! You are the first person who has made me understand the capsual wardrobe! I absolutely love your green trousers! And I’m thrilled to find an inspiration source like you , where the wardrobe use earth color and especially the nude/creme/taupe/beige/brown/camel tints and tones! I think I actually could copy almost everything you have. I’m not a fan of really girly girly stuff, but think it looks amazing on others. Guess it’s depend on one’s personality ☺️. However, I also love your accent color like green, hot or dusty pink and burgundy! Today I bought my first capsule wardrobe item 🎉 A white top. My next move is to understand fully, what my body is and tells me. I lost weight and are just starting out in my first year as a 40 year adult. By that I mean, I suddenly feel grown up and want to look sleak, elevated, elegant and comfy, and I want to reflect my new life. I’m always going to be myself, but I could do better than putting on a warn out adidas pant and a random hoodie. I think I only have 1 black , no 2 black items. A pair of shoes and a nice pair of trousers. And I hear people always say- you need more black. I like brown better! A tip from Norway.. check out Pia Tjelta dresses. I think you would really like them. Thank you! You are the best. ! Marit
This is the best explanation for a capsule wardrobe I have seen. I have always loved neutrals and now understand how important it is to have a variety of clothes in the same colour waive that will mix and match. Can’t wait to declutter my wardrobe. Thank you Melissa, looking forward to watching all your videos
Oh Melissa you're incredible, I loved loved loved this. I've saved a few of your videos but this one will be one I refer to forever! Years ago I was so conditioned to think I can't buy another top in that colour as I already have one but what you have taught me and all of us makes so much sense and it's put across so well. You're right, all the 'influencers' tell you the exact items u should have in your capsule wardrobe and that is not the right way to approach it. I've had 3 massive clearouts since lockdown and I still could chuck out 90% of my clothes and not miss them. I really want 2024 to finally be the year I sort myself out 😆. Sorry for the long comment but thank you so so much for what you do on here, you give me & all of us hope xx
This is the best video I’ve seen on building a capsule wardrobe! Seeing the side by side pictures of the two different wardrobes was a lightbulb moment. I could see my wardrobe with all the many colors and patterns and it felt very overwhelming compared to your wardrobe. Your wardrobe would make it enjoyable to pick out your daily outfit.
Seriously, this is the best video I've seen about building a capsule wardrobe. This is functional information as opposed to 'do this not that' or 'you must have'. I already know my aesthetic but now I can build that around what I do in my life. Thank you for sharing!
I am stunned. In the myriad books and videos I've read and seen you are the first to emphasize and show clearly that shades of colour count as one neutral; to have different weights and styles of tops;, and to extend the chosen colour to shoes, bags and boots, as well. I, too, and fed up being told I need black pants, a moto jacket etc. Unlike most women, my wardrobe is almost empty because I can't afford to buy clothes really. Therefore every potential purchase is filled with trepidation. It must be 'perfect' to last. I finally feel like I have the information I need to make the best choices. I am so grateful Melissa, and quite relieved. What a wonderful teacher you are. Thank you and all the best.
Thank you so much Melissa, I’ve watched so many capsule wardrobe videos but only just now have I realised I’m buying stuff for a fictional life that I don’t lead! I work from home and live in a rural village so it needs to be smart casual comfy. If we do go out it’s to eat or for drinks in a local pub. I need maybe 3% of very smart outfits for the very occasional fancy meal ! You’ve really helped me to move in the right direction going forward, can’t wait to get started x
So glad to hear you talk about 'you must have a white shirt'. I hate a white shirt! You can guarantee as soon as I put it on, it will get marked somehow, and I have no idea how! I cook a lot and although I wear an apron, I still end up with spots and splashes, no matter how careful I am.
This is by far the best video I've seen on creating a capsule wardrobe. It makes total sense and is so simple to follow. This weekend I'm going to do a deep dive of my closet, calculate the percentage and types of clothes needed for me, and then make a plan to fill in the gaps for completing my capsule wardrobe. Thanks so much for this!
My current wardrobe suits my life, my build and petiteness, and local weather/seasons. I have had to make some adjustments for hair that is steel gray, and an older, more washed out complexion. Still neutral based, just different tones. I don’t look good in cream/ivory now or browns. I wear less black, more shades of gray and some pastels, which I never wore before. When young, my hair was very dark brown and I spent a lot of time outdoors in warm weather and stayed tanned almost all yr. But there are still lots of white tops to wear with classic straight leg jeans and flat shoes. I can still wear shades of navy.
I thought I had seen everything that could be depicted in a capsule wardrobe video, but this is far and away the most truly helpful and clearly explained one I have ever watched. Thank you.
This is the best and most educational capsule wardrobe video I have ever seen. Just like you touched upon in your video, most videos like this just tells you what you should get for your capsule wardrobe, but does not tell you how to think about it and adjust it to your own lifestyle. Thank you for this!
I wish I had your skill, but I've been watching your channel for a few years now, and my wardrobe has been culled, cleared, rebuilt and is doing much better.😊 I like bright colours and I can't wear heels (nothing more than the tiniest kitten heel) so I've added and subtracted as necessary....and your tips have been brilliant. Thank you.
I love this video! I have been refining my wardrobe over the past 2 years with regular refreshes and clearing out the outdated, misshaped, worn and poorly fitting items. I now have a lot of very nice options and I am working to retrofit back to a larger capsule as I still like having a number of options. The key I think now is identifying those items that are missing or that I have too many of (and picking the best of that category). Having a second set of eyes to move it along would be great and this may be the time to invest in that refinement. Thanks to Melissa and the team for making these amazing videos and giving me the foundation and confidence in my wardrobe! Thanks from Vancouver, Canada!
I have been declutterring my closest of clothes, shoes and purses. Things I never wore! My closet was a mess! You made a good point! Dress for your life style! My life style is casual. When ever I would go shopping which is always by myself. I would shop at boutiques. These ladies would talk me into buying items of clothing that wouldn’t fit into my life style. It was costing me a fortune! Now! I am making a list of things I need! To dress my life style. Thank you!!❤️😃
I keep a list on my phone of things missing from my wardrobe so that when I'm shopping I can easily see what I need. I try to steer clear of things that I do not need. I also don't buy anything that is not a WOW. If it's not a WOW it's a no.
The way you explained the color theory in such detail, showing examples made something click in my mind! It finally makes sense to me! I will have to come back to this video and continue absorbing your knowledge because it’s late 😆 but I feel like this is something I can do! See you soon! Can’t wait!
One of my favourite videos on TH-cam, thank you so much for 1. Saving money 2. organising my wardrobe 3. Making me feel so much happier 😊love your helpful videos. ❤
I'm so excited for this video since it's my project for 2024 to build a capsule wardrobe for myself! Your tips are ESSENTIAL! Thank you from Germany and have a very bright 2024!🎉
I love your videos and it has really helped me redefine my wardrobe in my 50s for my changing perimenopausal body. Following your advice to extend my coat/jacket wardrobe over the last year has been one of the best pieces of advice I got from watching your videos. I also have a neutral selection of shoes now for all seasons plus 1 pair in silver and 1 in cerise pink as my pops of colour. Thank you!
Melissa- this was THE BEST capsule wardrobe video I’ve watched. The way you explained things made me realize why my wardrobe wasn’t working- the colors & not having similar items in different weights of the same color. Genius! Thank you!
Would love a video on when and what you do for exercise and your diet to stay trim. Im now fhinking about my autumn capsule wardrobe, thanks for the help xx
This advice is amazing! I've been trying to pare down my wardrobe for a few years and you've just explained exactly what I've been doing wrong (and right). I've clearly been trying to incorporate too many colours and not enough neutral light colours. Thank you!
Melissa, I totally understand and agree with what you're saying in this video about colour pallette. But I feel like I can't do this. I do have a good selection of basic wardrobe pieces in black and gray, as well as white blouses, sweaters etc., but I don't wear them that frequently. I always reach for a beautiful colour, especially for tops, because colour makes me happy! My favorites are jewel tones, all shades of blue and turquoise, and especially pink. These colours give me a lift, and I feel more myself in colour than in neutral pieces and get more compliments too! So much of the clothing available right now in stores is neutral, neutral, and neutral, and I feel like I can't find anything I like. I end up not shopping because I am not excited by what I see.
Thank you!!! This was so well explained and clear. Even though I've done the course and had a one on one session with you, this was such a good review and reminder for me. Time to do another closet edit, I think!! You're amazing and good to see you back. 😊
Oh Melissa thank you so much for your wonderful way of explaining to us about a topic I’ve never understood, of having to even attempt to start organising my very “busily coloured” outdated wardrobe!! You’re a gem!! 🥰🎀
I live in Dubai with extremely high heat summers and air con 24/7 and very mild 3 month winters. I’m also a SAHM, so practically live in casuals/loungewear at home. Yet, like you pointed out, i have more dressy clothes than what I actually use 90% of times. 🙈 I love fashion though and like dressing up when we go out on weekends etc. Over here, people dress up for mall outings! It’s literally a thing here! I am not a minimalist but neither am I a hoarder, i declutter often, but your video has made me realize i need some major tweaking to my wardrobe. Thanks for such a useful tutorial!
I'm so excited that i stumbled upon your video! I am 51 and work from home these days. I am so beyond ready to pull myself out of my style rut and start looking and feeling more confident and pulled together. Your explanation was extremely helpful to me... thank you!
You explained the capsule concept very well. You explained the logic of it really clearly. Demonstrating by switching pieces showing us the cohesiveness of it all was terrific. Great job.
You are the best in the business, truly! I so appreciate how thorough you are in explaining. I appreciate that you recognize that what are base pieces for one aren't necessarily base pieces for another. So well done, the best capsule wardrobe video I've seen!
Best and real personal stylist out there, has helped me a lot, I will shop from the channel now because I am understanding my own figure more. Thank you melissa and the team.
I know you already know this as your a professional in your field but you really are so good at what you do! As someone who thought I had a capsule.for the last several years have realised I did not... I usual just have minimal amount of clothing but not a wardbrobe which mixes and matches. Thanks for the advice, I've rewatched this 3 times as it's taking me time to comply to the rules and remember them .
Thank you, that’s very nice of you to say so because, like many of us, I live with self doubt so sometimes it’s nice to have that validation from others! 😘
Thank you Melissa! This video was so helpful, especially to start the new year off right. I’ve personally found your advice to have different weights in your neutrals the most helpful. It filled so many holes in my wardrobe and yet also prevents me from multiples of the same sweater, for example. I’ve been hearing a lot about the wrong bag theory and the wrong shoe theory. I was just wondering what your opinion is on these theories.
That’s great to hear. On my ‘everyday’ women the ‘wrong shoe theory’ simply makes them look mis-matched and almost has the opposite affect of its intention but on my clients who are craving something a little different then yes we apply it but you have to have the right personality, lifestyle and figure to pull it off x
What a brilliant visualisation and explanation of a capsule wardrobe! I’m inspired and going to apply your tips to my clothes and lifestyle. Thankyou so much!👏🥰
Thank you! I've been obsessing over the fact that I don't have any blazers!! Yay? I don't need any. I'm retired and only go to the grocery store and Walmart and twice a year to the casino. (Yes, my life is pretty boring!). So I just need casual clothes and maybe one outfit for a wedding and one for a funeral. I've never worn much white. It looks beautiful on me, but when I wear a white top with nothing over it--i feel like the marshmallow that ate Fargo! I'm on a weight loss journey since last May I've lost 32 lbs and I'm planning on losing 40 more this year, so maybe then I won't feel as huge in white. Thank you, this was very helpful!
Oh wow, well done on your weight loss journey. White won’t make you look bigger if you wear it in the right places but it will make you look more stylish overall and then your ‘style’ rather than your weight is what you’ll see in the mirror. X
Thank you Melissa. Very helpful video. Loking at my wardrobe, I realised the I have very few brown/ beige items and more black, grey, blue and olive green. Maybe you could make a video for those colours. I work in an office where everybody dresses casual, but I like to dress up a little bit.
This makes so much sense. I’ve just packed for a six week trip to New Zealand where it’s summer and noticed that pretty much everything was blue/ white or brown with the odd touch of colour. It will be interesting to see what I wear. I think I’ll do a journal each day to see if it has worked.
Hi Melissa, LOVE your videos and I just had a consult with Clare this week. I already have my new capsule wardrobe put together from the info she provided along with what I have already learned from your videos. I am 6 months postpartum with my second baby so pretty much starting over and trying to look good while in this transitional period. Thank you for putting these online, they have been very helpful :). Love from Canada!
Great video, Melissa! I tend to buy a lot of things on clearance/sale, that leads to the wild colors and patterns. Thanks to your advice, I’ve been working on fewer pieces that are more versatile. ❤ from Iowa
I may get push-back on this, but I own only 2 or 3 pattered pieces. With solids, I can put lots of outfits together. I often see pattered fabrics that call to me, but I know they’ll get very few wearings, making it easy to pass up.
One of the BEST descriptions l have heard for building a capsule wardrobe! 👏👏Most importantly it be for our current lifestyle, plus ignoring the old rules of black trousers etc. The limited number of colours and in neutrals is by far the best advice when building a capsule wardrobe so that everything matches. With your help l have phased out my old wardrobe as it didn't suit my lifestyle anymore, l followed your advice and l now like my wardrobe, it is far more appropriate for what l'm doing. 😊 Thank you, your videos are always inspiring! xx ❤️
Very well explain… it is not the First time i am listening to you but i think it is the video that is going to make me change my wardrobe! Thanks to you so much 😍
Wow just found this video. So interesting and very useful information. I now know I need to change from lots of flowery and pattern clothing at the ripe old age of 60. So wish I discovered you earlier. Thank you xx
This is the first time I've watched one of your videos, and i have realized thst my fashion instinct has been honed through the years, but i didn't even know! Your vidoe made perfect sense to my intuition. Thanak a million
I just love this video. I just had a baby and am currently losing the weight. I'm definitely doing to do this exercise once I'm back down so I can make sure the clothes fit well and work for my body type.
Thank you worked out majority of my wardrobe fantasy as work from home predominately now have a lot of lovely dress that i now only occasionally wear on the odd time i do go to the office. 😀 Recently found your channel and really enjoy your content.
Oh my, subscribed from this video, so brilliant. I struggle because I love florals. I love neutrals, but almost everything I have is colored, so I just have jeans for everything, because that is my lifestyle. I ban see how this is so much easier, I may be converted.
Great video. Thanks for this - I've been doing the capsule wardrobe thing for years and life is so much simpler. Loved your tip about introducing something light - I have a big bust so tend to only have dark colours on top - but this changed the whole look. Thank you. Love to keep learning about this stuff. I also have muddy paw challenges so your dog-walking comments always make me smile. It's real life, right :)
Hello Melissa, what clicked for me in this video was the point about "fantasy lifestyle v. real lifestyle" and how that translates into the wardrobe. I buy the pretty items, the impulse buys (high end and low end) but nothing seems to work for me because I'm not really considering the percentage of time I'll be in my items. As a psychotherapist who works virtually from home as well as a brick and mortar office I like an elevated casual professional look, but also love meeting a friend for dinner or brunch. Then, going for a lunch date with hubby on the weekends. As usual, you gave me much to think about. After my last session today, I'm marching into my closet with a black bag and doing some decluttering as my first step!! Those florals and prints have taken up too much real estate!!
I did exactly that!! I filled a bag and ordered a few cream and taupe tops.I will go through my accessories next. I'll keep you posted!!@@mmpersonalstyling
Where have you been all of my life!! My closet looks exactly like the mismatched, bohemian floral explosion! Lol😂. I literally laughed really loudly, and scared my dog 😂. Im so ready for a real declutter. Im 56 this year, and in menopause. Nothing looks the same on me anymore. Subscribed!! I also sent this video to my mum and sister!!
You sound like you’re nailing it! Being honest about your lifestyle is a game changer xx
Great advice! Tfs, Laura ❤
Ahh that fantasy life and wardrobe we all need to overcome and be realistic…sigh!
Ahh the fantasy life wardrobe gets me too!
❤ congratulations! It is easy to dress well with the helpful strategies from Melissa. Makes us feel great too. Keep up the wonderful work. Intentional dressing, even in outdoorsy casual settings.
Please give this professional woman a tv show!
Thank you 🙏
Agreed!
So agree
I completely agree!!
You have given me the ability to actually envision myself putting together a capsule wardrobe! Thank you! You're a wonderful speaker and teacher of essential topics! ❤
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much! There’s an updated one of these coming out next week focusing on spring x
Oh my, yes that blazer! Everyone’s saying we need it but I just never wear my gorgeous silk/wool one, shouldn’t even have it.
Wow! BRAVO 👏The absoltue best info about a capsule wardrobe I've ever read about or seen a video on! I love how you broke it down and emphasized how it should be suitable to our lifestile. Really pleased to hear that, thank you for sharing. X
Love this video. I'm 69, retired and rarely go out. I now have an idea of how to declutter my wardrobe and let some of those 'just in case' pieces go.
This is THE best video on building a capsule wardrobe I have ever watched. The way you describe everything so clearly makes it so much more doable. Thank you so much. I'm currently binge watching all your other videos too.
Glad it was helpful and hope you don’t get too bored of listening to me go on and on!!!
Exactly!! First time I I actually getting some useful info
I can relate!
That’s so great to hear, thank you, I really appreciate it x
Wow!!!! I have never thought about the light white/cream neutral in different weights and just swapping them 🤯! Genius!!
I'm sure that someone somewhere will be incredibly grateful for you filling up those bags. x
Sounds to me like you know what you’re doing, well done and best of luck with it x
Today I bought my first capsule wardrobe item 🎉
A white top.
You are so welcome!
This was SOOOO good!!! Thank you for the entire interview but especially that last part!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Please don’t apologise, it’s comments like this which honestly keeps me making these videos so thank you 🙏
Yes, thank you for your beautiful comment ❤
This is the best video I’ve seen on building a capsule wardrobe!
Seeing the side by side pictures of the two different wardrobes was a lightbulb moment. I could see my wardrobe with all the many colors and patterns and it felt very overwhelming compared to your wardrobe. Your wardrobe would make it enjoyable to pick out your daily outfit.
Glad it was helpful!
Seriously, this is the best video I've seen about building a capsule wardrobe. This is functional information as opposed to 'do this not that' or 'you must have'. I already know my aesthetic but now I can build that around what I do in my life. Thank you for sharing!
Glad it was helpful for you, thank you for your nice words. X
So pleased to hear Vivienne 🥰
No-one else can do these styling videos as good as you Melissa!! Its such good advice. Happy new Year to you, Monty and the gang! Thank you
Thank you and the same to you!
I’m so glad to hear that xx
Haven’t even finished the video but it is already the most helpful wardrobe video I’ve ever seen! 🙏🏽
Oh wow, thank you!
So glad to hear you talk about 'you must have a white shirt'. I hate a white shirt! You can guarantee as soon as I put it on, it will get marked somehow, and I have no idea how! I cook a lot and although I wear an apron, I still end up with spots and splashes, no matter how careful I am.
Who would wear a white shirt to cook in? For cooking and washing dishes, yard work, cleaning I wear an old rag.
My white shirts are my favorite ❤️
This is by far the best video I've seen on creating a capsule wardrobe. It makes total sense and is so simple to follow. This weekend I'm going to do a deep dive of my closet, calculate the percentage and types of clothes needed for me, and then make a plan to fill in the gaps for completing my capsule wardrobe. Thanks so much for this!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you.
Wow, thank you! I really appreciate that and glad you enjoyed it x
This is the best and most educational capsule wardrobe video I have ever seen. Just like you touched upon in your video, most videos like this just tells you what you should get for your capsule wardrobe, but does not tell you how to think about it and adjust it to your own lifestyle. Thank you for this!
Really glad to hear that it resonated with you, thank you for watching x
This is the first capsule wardrobe video that really makes sense and is so inspiring. Thank you!
So glad to hear that. There's an extension of this coming this Sunday, hope you find that useful too!
Thank you.
Wonderful! Love hearing these success stories, thanks for sharing x
OMG that mixed bag of clothing with lots of colors and prints is definitely my closet.
Don’t worry, It’s most people’s wardrobes!!!
It sounds like you’ve done a fantastic job so far, well done x
Thank you so much for this. It is probably the best capsule wardrobe video that I have seen.
Wow, thank you!
Thank you!!❤️😃
Brilliant - good luck with it. x
Can’t wait!
Great to hear!
One of my favourite videos on TH-cam, thank you so much for 1. Saving money 2. organising my wardrobe 3. Making me feel so much happier 😊love your helpful videos. ❤
You're so welcome!
This is the best capsule wardrobe I’ve seen (and I’ve seen a lot!) thank you!
Wow, thank you!
This is the most helpful capsule wardrobe video I’ve ever seen!Thank you!!!
That’s so good to hear, thank you xx
Never watched a video like this. So impressed ❤
This is a beautiful wardrobe, and I love, love, love the green pants! Green is my favorite color!
Mine too!
I'm so excited for this video since it's my project for 2024 to build a capsule wardrobe for myself! Your tips are ESSENTIAL! Thank you from Germany and have a very bright 2024!🎉
You're so welcome!
Thanks for the tips! I’ve lost quite a bit of weight in the last year and need to build a whole new wardrobe.
Such clear and clever easy to implement advice, thank you so much 😁😁😁
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!
Wonderful, love hearing comments like this. x
Melissa- this was THE BEST capsule wardrobe video I’ve watched. The way you explained things made me realize why my wardrobe wasn’t working- the colors & not having similar items in different weights of the same color. Genius! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
I absolutely love your styling, you always have it spot on and it's items that are realistic.
I try! Thank you x
The advice about the white or cream to brighten is so good - my wardrobe is so black
Would love a video on when and what you do for exercise and your diet to stay trim. Im now fhinking about my autumn capsule wardrobe, thanks for the help xx
Thank you Melissa, I feel I should watch every time before I go shopping. My wardrobe looks like a rainbow 😂
You can do it - just think of me on your shoulder saying ‘real life not fantasy life and create balance across your figure!
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen on capsule wardrobes, ever! Thank you so much. Explaining what you need and why was super helpful.
You are so welcome!
This advice is amazing! I've been trying to pare down my wardrobe for a few years and you've just explained exactly what I've been doing wrong (and right). I've clearly been trying to incorporate too many colours and not enough neutral light colours. Thank you!
Great start to the New Year. 2024 is attack my wardrobes. Thank you ❤
Just joined, I agree with all you said.
I love the way you show real life outfits such as what to wear when walking the dogs - I’ve learned a lot x
Thank you - in a world of fakery, I've got to keep it real!!
I Wish i could give a Double thump Up...i absolutely Love!!! This Idea of wardrobe Style and your explanations aswell. Thank you so much!!!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for bringing up lifestyles and your wardrobe .
Outstanding info. It has taken me years to learn all that you have given in one video. Im sure you are helping so many women.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!!! This was so well explained and clear. Even though I've done the course and had a one on one session with you, this was such a good review and reminder for me. Time to do another closet edit, I think!! You're amazing and good to see you back. 😊
Glad it was helpful and thank you for watching (you must be bored of the sight of us now!!!)
@@mmpersonalstyling Not at all. I always look forward to your Sunday videos and Instagram posts. 💕
Best and most practical explanation of capsule wardrobe I have ever heard. Have learned so much from this lady.thank you.
Wow, thank you! 🙏
Wish I knew all of these guidelines years ago. Very helpful advice. Thanks.
No worries! 😉
45 year old mum who has felt so lost with my wardrobe, Watching this gives me hope and direction to sort it out!
I hope the videos are helping you x
Oh Melissa thank you so much for your wonderful way of explaining to us about a topic I’ve never understood, of having to even attempt to start organising my very “busily coloured” outdated wardrobe!! You’re a gem!! 🥰🎀
You are so welcome!🤗
Thank you. I’m working on changing my wardrobe and sticking to more neutrals, but still wanted to keep some of fun clothes for cruising as my 20 %
Wow your content is stellar! This is exactly what I need as I’m reinventing my style.
Glad you like it!
Gosh, you make so much sense. So easy to understand
Thank you so much!
I'm so excited that i stumbled upon your video! I am 51 and work from home these days. I am so beyond ready to pull myself out of my style rut and start looking and feeling more confident and pulled together. Your explanation was extremely helpful to me... thank you!
You are so welcome! Best of luck x
You explained the capsule concept very well. You explained the logic of it really clearly. Demonstrating by switching pieces showing us the cohesiveness of it all was terrific. Great job.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You are the best in the business, truly! I so appreciate how thorough you are in explaining. I appreciate that you recognize that what are base pieces for one aren't necessarily base pieces for another. So well done, the best capsule wardrobe video I've seen!
I appreciate that! Thank you so much for your kind words.
Best and real personal stylist out there, has helped me a lot, I will shop from the channel now because I am understanding my own figure more. Thank you melissa and the team.
Thank you so much x
Thankyou so much!👏🥰
Wonderful!
Have a lovely trip!!
Hello! Really pleased that Clare was able to help you. Enjoy your new clothes xx
Great video, Melissa! I tend to buy a lot of things on clearance/sale, that leads to the wild colors and patterns. Thanks to your advice, I’ve been working on fewer pieces that are more versatile.
❤ from Iowa
I did that for years and never had anything to wear. Melissa is amazing. ❤
😊 Thank you, your videos are always inspiring! xx ❤️
That’s lovely to hear, thank you for sharing x
Brilliant video! Made me rlly think what MY foundation pieces are. I definitely don't need the tailored trousers on a daily basis. 👏
I‘m so in love with those green trousers. They - and you - look fab! ✨
Thank you so much, they're old Mango ones!
Love your blouse!
Thank you, everything is always linked in the description box.
You explain it all so well
Very well explain… it is not the First time i am listening to you but i think it is the video that is going to make me change my wardrobe!
Thanks to you so much 😍
You are more than welcome, thank you for watching.
Wow just found this video.
So interesting and very useful information. I now know I need to change from lots of flowery and pattern clothing at the ripe old age of 60. So wish I discovered you earlier. Thank you xx
Glad it was helpful!
As a pale person who rarely wears white, this was an eye opening video! I will incorporate more light colors. Thank you
This is the first time I've watched one of your videos, and i have realized thst my fashion instinct has been honed through the years, but i didn't even know! Your vidoe made perfect sense to my intuition.
Thanak a million
Hello and welcome! Sometimes it’s great to know that what you’ve been doing instinctively works - don’t lose that instinct for anyone!
Welcome to the channel! Glad you’re enjoying the content x
Love the breakdown,
Very practical and easiest way to understand how to make wardrobe suit my lifestyle
Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Oh my, subscribed from this video, so brilliant. I struggle because I love florals. I love neutrals, but almost everything I have is colored, so I just have jeans for everything, because that is my lifestyle. I ban see how this is so much easier, I may be converted.
Welcome!! Really pleased to hear that it's provoking some thoughts for you, thank you for subscribing. x
Got to keep it real!! Thanks for watching. x
The perfect video to start the year! Nobody does it like you Melissa ❤
That’s a nice message to read, thank you so much. X
brilliant and inspiring. I learnt so much in this short video. Going to empty my closet and check out your courses!
Please do! We have 20% off all of our courses but only until the end of May. The code is SPRING2SUMMER
Brilliant! I hope it went well xx
I did exactly that!! I filled a bag and ordered a few cream and taupe tops.I will go through my accessories next. I'll keep you posted!!@@mmpersonalstyling
Very clear description of a capsule wardrobe.
Glad you think so!
I must have this white silk blouse!
It’s linked in the description box
@@mmpersonalstyling I checked both. This shirt is not linked. Maybe it’s sold out ?
So helpful!
Thank you for watching and sharing the video, it’s really very much appreciated x
