  • [0.8] While renovating our RV, we removed the dinette and built a custom office desk. It has LED back-lighting, drawers, a retractable keyboard tray, and cable raceways to conceal the wiring. In this video, we go over the process of the build, as well as the tools and materials required to make it happen.

    Please keep in mind, we are not experts, so it would be wise not to use this video as your only resource. This series is more about us getting used to RV life and the process of documenting it all, and is not meant to be proper episodes, more like preseason episodes. However, we do try to make them a little informative and hopefully somewhat entertaining. We officially go live with real episodes based on travel in April of 2020.

    Just what I was looking for. I just got into the research phase of RVing. It'd be me and my girlfriend. I want space in case we can both work remotely and not have to be crammed into the dinette.

    Awesome...well done!
    I'm opting to take components from my home office and install them into my RV. My only real task will be anchoring it all without breaching the interior unsafely. I just don't need unsealable holes that can invite moisture.
    Anchoring the desk shouldn't be an issue, but then anchoring the monitors to the desk...that might be something else. I'll make it work. 🫡

    I've been living the RV life since I was a young kid like 9 to be specific and I've never had a gaming set up before and this has helped me a lot cause I was planning on building a set up for myself so I can start doing my own gaming streams but I needed something worth while so it didn't look so blan but honestly this helped me a lot thank you and p.s I'm 23 now lol so I've living the hole nomad and tv life for a long time and honestly it's been a wonderful life and I wouldn't had it any other way like I see my self living this life even longer in the future maybe I'll get a house in the future but I find it hard thinking I could live in something other than a trailer/RV it fits my minimalist mentality and keep in mind homes where the heart is

    Very nice! Even at home, we never eat at the table, so those bench style dinettes always seem like a huge waste of space to me. Love that televator piece you made. I will be excited to see the video for it!

      @LegallyHomeless  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! We like to eat outside when we can, otherwise we've got folding TV trays we keep behind the couch for meals in the rig.
      I need to get on that TV cabinet video, this pandemic has me down in the dumps due to being stationary and not doing anything. Cabin fever is no joke! We're going to be moving locations soon and once we do I'll get that video finished up!

    Looking forward to more videos! We absolutely loved your Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge video which is why we both subscribed to the channel. Your thorough approach to these uploads is perfect for using them as a tool to not only remodel/repair but also for future trips. BTW.... we booked a spot at BPKFL in December : )

      Awesome! You'll love it! And thank you! We're in a hold pattern right now, staying up in the mountains of LA County, CA with no internet access. Once things calm back down and we get back on the road we'll start making some more videos.

    Very nice finish wood work! impressive looking work station. I'm not good at finish carpentry, I've mostly done rough carpentry since being a roofing contractor in the past. I like you editing work, color and fonts look excellent. I'm working on getting better at it. Enjoying your videos, Thanks.

    • @LegallyHomeless
      @LegallyHomeless  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate the compliments! My only experience in carpentry was as a roofer as well. Never done any finish work prior to these projects. It's not that hard, don't sell yourself short. I'd say it's far from professional quality, though, plenty of flaws when you look close, but it works for me.

      I had about half the video complete when COVID hit, but had to change a lot of things about our life because of it and haven't had the time to finish it. Once things settle down we're going to pick up where we left off and I'll start pumping out videos again.

    I am curious how much one can do with a gaming setup in an RV. Presumably, with a gaming PC, you would have to be hooked up for power as they are quite the electricity hog. What about wifi? How does one ensure enough bandwith for gaming? I myself have a duel monitor desktop setup with a beasty PC that I use for work and gaming. I actually work part time in a form of game design so I need a gaming PC, a laptop just can't handle what I do. I have been wondering if I could do this reliably in an RV. My husband and I live in an area where housing is getting extremely difficult to afford or obtain, in addition to the rising costs of housing and basically everything right now, and we're looking at other options for housing. Being able to continue my work is key, it's a significant chunk or our income. I've looked at RVs that have the space for a desktop set up, but I haven't seen people talking much about how to ensure enough power and a good enough connection.

    Do you have any issues with your computer equipment shifting while you’re in transit?? I don’t have plans to build out a specific area for my office equipment, I’m just going to use my dinette. But I’m worried about whether or not my work equipment will be safe to leave out on travel days, or if I should plan to store it every time. I would appreciate any advice that you have!

    If I can get an RV and have it renovated like yours my son would be in his glory. Unfortunately I cannot afford an RV but I wish I could because it would allow my son to play all his games and have a set up like yours and it would allow me to be able to drive to Arizona where my son is stationed in the military so I personally would have a bit of both worlds which is I would be able to be with both my boys. it's so badly when I get out of Brooklyn New York I want to get out of the Hood, we don't belong here at all.
