RV Flooring with Slide & Mold Treatment - Our RV Renovation

  • [0.5] In this episode we cover how we replaced the flooring in our RV with one slide. We replaced our wood flooring with vinyl planks and discuss the process, tools, and costs involved. Also, during the tear-out process we discovered mold and moisture on the subfloor, so we also go over how we treated the mold and the preventative measures we took to avoid any more mold in the future.
    Please keep in mind, we are not experts, so it would be wise not to use this video as your only resource. This series is more about us getting used to RV life and the process of documenting it all, and is not meant to be proper episodes, more like preseason episodes. However, we do try to make them a little informative and hopefully somewhat entertaining. We officially go live with real episodes based on travel in April of 2020.

    If there are any mold spores left the fan will blow them all over the RV. Rent an air scrubber. This will filter out any mold spores that are still around. Nice work,

    Interested in the slider slickers. Very cool product. Great job on your floors. I've seen a few other flooring installed, but yours is the best.

    It turned out really nice! This was a very informative video. Not knowing a lot about these kinds of things, I'm wondering why RV manufacturers don't put the mold resistant primer down to begin with so that mold can be prevented. I like the idea. I'm saving it to refer back to when we get to this point.

      Thank you! You'd think they would, but I guess they design them with perfect scenarios in mind and don't account for people leaving their windows and vents open during torrential Florida thunderstorms. 😣

    Wow your rig looks great! My husband and I are putting down new floors in our RV and we found several rounded bolts which I assume attach to the frame. Unfortunately the bolts are not flush with the subfloor. We are unsure how to lay the vinyl planks across them. Did you come across this problem?

    Awesome video. Thank you for the post. I think that your tips will help us tackle reflooring our RV soon. Just remember to be careful when mixing cleaning products together. Hydrogen peroxide and vinegar can create peracetic acid and be very harmful if inhaled (even with a mask).

    Now, that you have been FTing in it for a few months....how has the piece of vinyl that you adhered to the edge of the slide held up?? We're laying new vinyl this week & are stumped about the slide transition. Also, does the metal piece along the outer edge drag or scratch at all when sliding in or out??

    • @LegallyHomeless
      @LegallyHomeless  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We don't go full-time until April, but we've been using it a lot and so far it has held up really well. The metal does lightly drag just a tiny bit for about the last half-inch before it is fully extended, but it does not appear to be scratching the floor at all. -Dean

    I noticed on the Slide-out Slicker there are little pointed tips on the first 6 inches. I'm concerned that these may damage my floor so I was thinking about cutting them off before using them. Have you noticed any problems with the little pointe tips causing damage?

      I just got them at Home Depot. They were in the section with all the different kinds of paneling. They are textured on one side, smooth on the other. I placed the textured side down, which is why the look smooth in the video. I believe their actual intent is for shower walls.

    Hi there 🤗 ! Quick question, actually a big doubt, please help me. 🙏 I don't know which floor should I install on my rvcamper. I'm in doubt about vinyl plank or vinyl sheet. Which do you recommend me? Planks looks better but I've read some comments that they may separate while traveling. What has already happened with the floor you have and again what do you recommend me? Thank you

    • @rickrangel
      @rickrangel ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Stephannie Mendes Hi there. I wanted to reply to your question. Unfortunately, putting vinyl planks is not a solution. The floor/planks will buckle when you are traveling on the road causing the planks to detach. It is NOT recommended to put planks in a RV. If the unit is not going to traveling or be living in the unit and not moving the RV, then yes you can put down planks. Its recommended to use sheet vinyl in a roll, but that gets really tricky. I hope this helps. I noticed you posted your comment 8 months ago. You probably already did your floors in your RV. What kind of floor did you put in after all? .........Rick

    Hi! My husband and I recently bought a 10-year-old fifth wheel trailer. We would like to take the carpet up and replace it with laminate. In your video you stated that the flooring used was recommended for a climate controlled area. Our question is why? We can’t understand what difference it would make. Also, I’m curious how your floor held up and if you had any thing that you would have done differently. Thank you! Michele. My husband is a contractor but the rv world is new to us!

    Not experts? These skills are cornered by nobody. Doing this RV makes you an expert. So I bought the lifeproof also - I see yours are flat, mine seem a bit raised in the center of each flank, so should I glue them all down? Were yours rounded at first?
