Dude, you've come a long way since your first video. Already doing "rebuilds" & lettin' us all watch! Your a BIG TIME TH-camR now! Got a Patron & everything! Great commentary too. 🤣👍🏻
Thanks to you!
Thank you so much for posting this video about installing LED lights in a Pioneer SX-780, I just bought a SX-780 off ebay this past weekend and coincidently, I'm gonna have to be putting LED bulbs in it that I also ordered as well, I've been browsing on line here to see if anyone has a video, and I came across this post! Just the info I needed!😀👍(Thanks So Much!)
Happy to help! I got my lights on eBay from a seller named projectblk86. I’ve never done this before and was still able to do it. Hit me up if you have any questions about it! How’re you liking the SX-780?
Great video! Commentary was funny as hell too. I think that I can handle this job now. Thx.
Awesome, I’m glad you liked it and thought it was funny too! Good luck on changing yours, it wasn’t too hard from what I recall, just be careful with the bulb clips
You were lucky that the plastic clips did not break off during removal and installation.
When i changed my lamps one clip on each of the bulb holders snapped off just as soon as i grabbed a hold of them.Worked out o.k. since the bulb housing stays in the light diffuser anyway with just the one clip.In my case i stayed with the incandescent bulbs for a more classic look. It's funny because i've had this 780 since '79 and the original bulbs were still working but had dimmed considerably over time.
Yeah I was worried mine were gonna snap too. I worry about that whenever I’m doing any stereo work since I’ve had it happen (I was trying to fix a grounding hum in my Dual turntable and ended up breaking something off!).
I like the look of the original lamps too and still have them as back-ups. I just changed them cuz they were heating up the top of my receiver and I’ve seen people say that could leave a scorch mark or warp the veneer.
@@TheVintageNewbie You know,i've heard that can happen.I've never had that issue. thankfully mines always run very cool. Also, thanks so much for this video.I watched it before i tried changing the lamps. You were a big help.
The first pioneer I replaced the bulbs on, I broke the old brittle clip on each one. The next two, I’ve got a special tweezers that has small “hooks” and I just pulled the bulbs and replaced. I would really recommend that.
Dang, I wish I'd seen this video (that didn't exist yet) before I did the lights in my SX-780. My method was way janky. The result was fine, just janky looking when you look under the hood.
Haha tell you what, if I ever crack this whole time travel thing, I’ll be sure to have Western Union deliver a telegram to you before you install your lights and I’ll include a dvd of this video!
Should have went with blue! But still look nice 👍🏻
I did blue for a different receiver (Realistic STA-77) and it looked cool but I don’t know how that would look for the Pioneer though
Wonder if your guy has different colors LED's
He usually has different colors. I’ve gotten other lights for different receivers from this guy. For one I got Warm White, Green, and Cool Blue. I think that’s his normal variety you can choose from. Check his eBay store though
Led t10 7v ?
@@Josef-jj.p I’m not sure, I got them from Joseph Mirabella, projectblk86 on eBay. Met him on a vintage stereo Facebook group and he was highly recommended by everyone when it comes to LED’s. He’s super nice and always helpful.
