The SX-xx50 series are some of my favorites, I'm an original owner of an SX-1050 that was full restored coming up on 3 years now. They have really robust power supply sections and sound great - thanks for your time!
Good work. It seems to me, given the many videos in which they are featured compared to integrated amplifiers, that receivers in the United States have been much more popular than in Italy.
I'm glad to see you again. I checked the service manual and found that the tuner chips for this device can be ordered from Ali Baba without any problems. I have ordered microcircuits for old devices from them several times and I have always been pleased with the quality. All microcircuits from them work without problems. if you are interested, I can send links to them
Love this one Joe ! Not too packed in there and easier to get access.. wish Pioneer had put the power supply on the top though, for better heat discharge. Nice nice receiver and great vid ..as always. Enough good clean power to enjoy the music LoL
The tuning meter has a capacitor hidden and hard to reach under either the tone board or the flat board, I forget which. I opted not to change it since my meter was functioning as normal and I was unable to reach it without spending a lot more time in disassembly.
I just won the bid for 476$ which the owner says he is the 1st owner with broacher and manual. He also said it goes off after 5 mins. Hope it’s an easy fix. Is it really required to recap ? I can do myself but the kit itself costs 200$
@ I bought it and tried two times after going off in protection mode. Then I opened the top cover and started cleaning the dust and sprayed contact cleaners at jumpers also including the volume pot and the front switches. When I put it on again it does not even sound for 5 mins now. The relay is not switching on. Checked the voltage across relay and it is zero. What could be the problem that the protection was enabling after 5 mins and now forever. Speakers I changed and tried without speakers. The fm says it tuned in as I see the stereo bulb glowing.

Great video!! Goes to show some of the complexities in these old receivers.

Hi....thank you for watching, back to your question...it goes off after 5 min? Do you mean the relay goes on protection mode?

How much does recapping totally cost like if you go to a good electronics repair place?
Hi Paul, this pioneer would be very expensive to recap...but I'm sure you can buy a restoration kit for this reviever...check ebay.
@@VintageAudioFever any idea where to find a bass control knob for one right beside the power switch? How expensive is very? . Just a ballpark figure
@@VintageAudioFever I also have a pioneer pl-518 that needs to rock again.. Just found in my dad's basement and like 15 reel to reels
Found a Sony apr-5000 on the cart with an owners manual like an in and a half thick
