    🔔What is the biggest question you have about the HImalayan?🔔

    While my riding in Central Pennsylvania is nothing like Colorado, it has its fair share of challenges for my 2022 Himalayan. Lots of dirt, gravel, mud, water, and rocks. The only limiting factor is my aging body and the risks I'm prepared to take.
    Like you, I have no regrets getting the Himalayan. I sold a BMW K75 that I loved but it was big, heavy, and couldn't support my desire to explore the mountain paths and roads.
    I enjoyed listening and watching your comments and reviews of the bike. Thanks for sharing it.

      Hey Steve! Thanks for the comments. Totally with you on the body keeping up with the desires to ride...but, were not gonna mention ages! My brother lives in Kennett Square. Pennsylvania is a beautiful state with many more great places within a day's ride outside of it as well. Going east is a goal one of these days for sure. There is always another adventure to look forward to. Thanks for the encouragement and participation. See you around!

    I just bought this bike Friday from MotoAuthority in ABQ. I spent most of this morning putting the original parts back on. I would love to know what happened to the headlamp guard brackets and all the dust caps.

    In India, the most common speed limit is 70 kmph for two wheelers, that's close to 44mph. So I don't think RE was taking into account selling this thing abroad while designing the engine back in 2015-17. The success Himalayan had abroad was quite a shock to everyone. The newer 450 Himalyan in the works should have a more efficient engine that produces more power, torque, top speed and a six speed gearbox. That would solve the issue Americans are having on the highways.
    Also what the heck is Harley doing with these big engines? A 1L or 1.5L engine even on cars produce at least 125HP and 150NM torque. And they are pushing around tons compared to a small bike. Is there a reason why those Harley engines are so weak in comparison to their size? Even the 650 twins from Interceptor and Continental GT produce similar power figures despite being just 650cc. So much weight and unnecessary fuel burn for that classic sound or look? I'm glad people are realising this.

    • @swcoloradoadventures
      @swcoloradoadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally agree, Alex! The design is relative. It’s really close to working perfectly. There are no issues off-road at all, however. That truly is why I got it and it does very well there.
      As for the Harley. I loved it. Very nostalgic for me. Just got so I wasn’t really riding it. And now, I get to explore off-road. More fun and fewer other vehicles. Thanks for the comments!

    I also own a Himalayan and live in central Colorado at about the same elevation as you. I switched to a 14 tooth front sprocket and can still run 65 but it climbs the passes easier. It also gears the bike down slightly when riding challenging mountain Jeep roads.

    • @swcoloradoadventures
      @swcoloradoadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s awesome Roger! It’s on a very long list of things to tinker with. If central is Arkansas River Valley, I’ll be there this summer for sure. Thanks for the endorsement of the mod! See ya around

    • @rogerhilbig3423
      @rogerhilbig3423 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are correct. I live in Salida right in the heart of the Arkansas Valley. The area between where you and I live could be explored for years on adventure bikes. We bought our Himalayan in Durango in 2021 for my wife due to the low seat height and approachability. I find the bike as much fun to ride as my DR650 and often choose to ride it myself. The low center of gravity makes it easy to ride. I also installed the FuelX Pro and am looking forward to hearing about your future performance enhancement plans.

  • @kevinnielsen1356

    Great video. In order to improve hills on the road try changing the front sprocket. Going down a tooth will help high gear climb (lower ratio). Going up a tooth will incerease 4th gear speed, that may make 65mph comfortable in 4th. Front sprockets are cheap. I switch sprockets on my Benelli tnt135 to suit the ride. I ride the Green Mtns, Berkshires and Adirondacks. Have fun!

    • @swcoloradoadventures
      @swcoloradoadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that Kevin! I have a checklist of things to try that I am working through and that one is on there. I appreciate the endorsement of it! The gears are wide and 65 mph is not quite at peak powerband for 5th and a bit too close to redline in 4th. In my brain, slightly lower gearing would place 5 th in the sweet spot. A hotter cam may fix it as it is and even give the ability to increase the sprocket and have better cruising speeds. That’s all IF my brain is thinking straight. It’s a fine balance. One day I will ride on the east coast. I want to go it fall for the colors. We have aspens which are awesome, but your area is a completely different beauty. Thanks again!

    We have a 2023 Scram 411 and buying one more for the wife. We have a few Harley’s, my wife rides a Harley XG750 setup and a flat track bike as well as a GXSR600. I have several Harley’s. She rode my Scram and I can’t keep here off it.
    The Scram 411
    We respectfully call it the Turd. It’s not fast not responsive but it’s a Tractor off road and a blast to lane split on the California Roadways.
    I have removed over 30 pounds off of mine and installed a Delkevic 8” Carbon pipe like my Flat Track Harley’s as well as the DNA Air Cleaner
    It’s a little more responsive and hope they do the 650 like the new Himalayan.
    They are fun bikes if your not in a hurry. I will look into the cam and big bore kit once it’s accessible here in the states

    • @swcoloradoadventures
      @swcoloradoadventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      It was almost a coin toss on the Himalayan and scram. But the bit more trail oriented Himalayan won out. I have a delkevic in my garage and just ordered the cam today. Air breather already done. Tinkering for the winter months. My wife doesn’t ride. Yet. She will ride with me and alone on dirt but no roads. Maybe a scram would be perfect for her…never know.

    I like your comment that the way to make it more manageable is to ride a Harley first. I’ve got a Yamaha FJR1300 and a Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber. To be honest with my age and health issues the Yamaha is probably too big and heavy for me now, but after a period of riding it the Guzzi feels like a pushbike!

    • @swcoloradoadventures
      @swcoloradoadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely Ricky! Love the Moto Guzzis. I stared long and hard at the V85 before I got this bike. I’m glad I got the ugly duckling though. After having dropped it I would have been way more upset if it was the V85. And, with age comes the wisdom to just enjoy the ride. Not all about the biggest and baddest! Thanks!

    Kind sir, do you ride this machine in the winter???

    • @swcoloradoadventures
      @swcoloradoadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! I am in Colorado, so, this morning it was about -3 celsius. When I rode it was around 18 ish. I also have my echo basin ride where I wrecked on the snow. I rode through even more today (no wreck). So, this thing can make it in some weather if that is the question. If I totally missed the mark with my answer, let me know. Thank you for the question. Do you ride?

    • @drury2d8
      @drury2d8 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@swcoloradoadventures I was curious since the bike makes low power with a linear throttle feel, it's quite possible to ride in winter without the fear of flying off the road.

    • @swcoloradoadventures
      @swcoloradoadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@drury2d8 Hey again! I think you are correct that those two things help to prevent wheel slippage. I even mentioned it yesterday on my ride. It has abs as well which could potentially help. It really is tricky with snow if that’s what we’re talking about. There are a lot of variables. The biggest is you don’t exactly know what’s underneath the latest fresh layer. If temps are right around freezing during the day and the sun is out, the first day would be snow that begins to melt and turn to ice as the temps dip overnight. Those are the most challenging conditions in my 4wd Jeep. Long explanation. Sorry, however, I would not rely on it for daily commuting if you get substantial snow where you live. The ice factor is too great. Thanks again for the question! I hope it helps🤠
