The pointer that helped me out the most...When flying nose in and in a panic, steer toward danger. Easy to remember and once you realize it works you're golden.
Thank you to all that was brave enough to upload their crashes and mistakes, most just upload when it goes well, not their crashes! It is also a stark reminder how dangerous this hobby can be, if you are hit in the face, head or body with any of these helicopters, especially the big ones it could lead to serious crippling injury or be fatal. Helis are not toys, and must be taken seriously, safety first everybody. Cheers.
LOL @ ESC Fires.... Put a slow-blow fuse in series with the ESC... Rate it at least twice the max current, because when a MOSFET latches it will easily draw 10x ESC current, but even the most demanding 3D won't go over 2x ESC amperage for long enough to pop fuse.
Addicted as i am im happy to go through all this only with my Nano…2nd set of Main blades nothing Else broken in ~50 classical beginner landings Its all fun and Games until your wife gets your Amex
A good pilot always keeps a small fire extinguisher in his support equipment, especially if you fly electric, and the best time to go get one is before something happens, not after...
You can save your self 50% crashes if you: 1.) Do an easy warm up flight. Catch mech problems before you invert. 2.) Don't "drift out". Continuously doing maneuvers while it get's farther and smaller. Bring it back. 3.) Never land/take-off nose-in. If you've tried you know why. Sim & Save.
The one at 3:10 Made me laugh so fucking hard when whole fucking head went up into the out limits of earths gravity Look on his face was fucking priceless!
I can say the first 2 have happened to me not the my blades flew out but I forgot to double my screwd after a rebuilds and blades came out flying with the complete assembly
Are ESC fires even an issue anymore for a reasonably modern eHeli ESC? That last one was really wrong...I feel for that guy although it was preventable and somewhat foreseeable.
I torched my ESC, when my trex 500 fell into tall grass and I "forgot" to hit throttle hold switch. I was already "in shock" because I just tried to invert and forgot to flip "throttle up". So 2 x bad mistakes = burned out ESC. Good part, because it fell on very cushy tall grass no mechanical parts were broken. Main and rotor blades were perfectly intact.
@@EbonySeraphim Nothing was planned, it just happened that way. I never made that mistake, again. From practice/experience you learn when you get into trouble to hit that throttle hold immediately. It can save a main gear, fly bar and possibly the main rotor.
***** Even if the straps fail to hold the battery, at the very least the canopy will prevent the battery from flying off and into the blades. I've seen it happen to many times especially when they're doing 3D.
Yes, but Velcro isn't a permanent fix. When the helicopter whips or thrust there's enough force to separate it. The bigger the battery the more force can be applied.
i don't need a video to show what can go wrong.i obliterated my kyosho concept 30 on it's first ever test flight (beginner).the heli suddenly took off, went over the rc club hut and exploded behind it :-( my first and last time i have ever tried learning to fly a heli (had to buy the kit again £300).
+racefaceec90 Get instruction. Fly the simulator. Then fly the real thing with training gear. As soon as you can consistently take-off and land with zero horizontal speed, remove the training gear. Hover around, start doing figures of 8, gradually increasing their size until you are at times flying side-in one way and the other. Then fly circuits. About aerobatics and tricks: ALWAYS have a reserve move planned to get into a know orientation and get out of trouble when doing new stuff. And always do new stuff at three mistakes high.
1:58 if something like this happens to me, im going to hover it very close to the ground and hit throttle cut and go into negative pitch, when it is on the ground
Last fire they was the only one's that didn't just watch their investment go up in flame's they made a move... Im not understanding how the other's stood like a deer in headlights just looking!
what do you do when you land on concrete lipos burst on fire can't put the fire out electronics are already completely fucked regardless you have to learn to let it go let it go oh you got to let it go lol I am serious I would not risk 4th degree burns to the bone trying to pull the lipos out if your helies bursted into a big flame ball you would not risk your hands on those lipos because the heat from a lipo battery is over 1000 degrees would you ever touch 1000 degree blow torch I wouldn't it's as hot as gun powder
It's not hard just spool up slowwww with a 3d birdy also noticed begginers seem to over control also please balance your blades and make sure your atleast 25 m up when you flip so you have some recovery hight all I can do ATM is rolls so I'm very amateur still in the world of 3d I like scale. Helis like Chinooks and md500s lamas and that sort of thing
Heli pilots have accidents. Drone drivers do stupid, dangerous crap with no knowledge or understanding of what it takes to actually fly. Two totally different mindsets...
Stealing people videos and nit adding credits to the original uploader is not cool man, especially as it's to just get hits. If you really give credit to the original uploader then where is it?
+koch Sorry to hear that. I know how it feels. Crashed my Logo 700 during the maiden flight...... Stupid mistake :-( th-cam.com/video/fhc6MrwITDY/w-d-xo.html

3:06 is best, watching your rotor blades fly away

Quick tip I figured out works for stopping blades is to land on throttle hold and to keep pitch at positive it makes them slow down quicker
You've earned your rotary wings for sure. I know the pain and also the reward/ addiction :)

That makes me feel much better!
Great compilation.I have done the forgot loctite one

When a lipo starts burning, just safe your life, not the heli ^^
I lol'd at the beginners running 600 and 700 size helis and destroying them in a matter of seconds.
That one looked like the head was ready but the rest of the helicopter wasn't ...
The one at 3:10 Made me laugh so fucking hard when whole fucking head went up into the out limits of earths gravity Look on his face was fucking priceless!
I have done some of them but the best one is when main rotor and shaft take off straight up , she forgot the Jesus bolt haven't done that one yet.
+jimmy D
Look again.... that's a dude.
Women don't fly helis, their small brains can't seems to grasp it.
Random thing - all "setup"-crashes have been due to wrong "directions" of the stabilizer - either head or tail worked the wrong way^^
2:10: "Oh, it seems to be tipping over. No worries let's just keep throttling up AH HYUCK."
Nice compilation. Gave me flashbacks lol
Great compilation!

@@trexinvert depending on the ESC, you may have wanted that to burn rather than just main blades and some servo arms

3:04 He controls the rotor-head XD
Bad batteries back in the day. Ouch.
Cooles Video! Ja, das richtige Setup und Loctite ist nicht zu vernachlässigen! Sonst kann es schief gehen.
Blowing on a fire makes it madder.
Yep guys, recconised some of these mistakes. It's bad enough crashing but then it goes up in flames, that hurts.
Very nice Video...
This was pretty good. Should have put a few of the, "I'm gonna fly without my Canopy" clips.
***** What wrong with doing that?
***** Even if the straps fail to hold the battery, at the very least the canopy will prevent the battery from flying off and into the blades. I've seen it happen to many times especially when they're doing 3D.
Ah, arent the batteries velcroed to the body anyways?
Yes, but Velcro isn't a permanent fix. When the helicopter whips or thrust there's enough force to separate it. The bigger the battery the more force can be applied.
I see. I just have a small 200 SRX so I don't see the need. I just meant for like normal flying not 3d.

I have had an esc go full throttle on me in the house just before it started to smoke. Luckily, the blades were off.

3:05 most funny rc heli accident I have ever seen.
I have to agree , it was amazing lol
nice video

Every rc heli ever :-), i don't think i'll ever be rly good @ it and when my jamara e-rix 6 channel is really broken i wont buy a new one ether
LEsson n1: always fly with the canopy
That has happened to me 18 times! I suck at flying
3:06 was the best!
magic smoke! Run,run away! Out of control heli! ughh! whirling blades of death, chop chop chop!
2:15 Tomstanton :)
These would be funny if they weren't so difficult and expensive to repair.
@3:05 not loctite the bolt snaped
