  • Canning chicken at home is one of the easiest canning projects to take on. There’s virtually no prep involved. Just places chicken into jars, put on lids and rings and place into you pressure canner! Voila! Canned, delicious chicken for the pantry shelf.
    I use the Ball Complete canning book for the processing times for chicken.

    I am just starting to pressure can, this looks less intimidating than I thought! Thanks for making it appear so easy.

    This was a wonderful video Julie! You are a natural teacher, very clear and easy to follow. Your chicken jars looked good, and that’s wonderful they all sealed. I’m in Australia and will have to look out for those lids to try. xx Cathi xx 😘

    I LOVE canning chicken and best of all having it in my pantry. It comes in handy for those times when you either forget or don’t have thaw chicken to make flautas, enchiladas or Chile Rellenos (especially when your husband is craving it 😂). Which reminds me, I need to can some more. My college student came by to visit this Fall break and took some back with her 😁. It was great seeing you Ms Julie!!!

      The time is also less for bone in, 60 and 75 minutes.

    I love the idea of mixing the chicken in the jars. I am sure the bone in makes a better broth for the breast. So smart!

    Hi Julie! This was a wonderful video! I've already put my jars into the dishwasher. I can't wait to add this chicken to my pantry shelf! A couple months ago I canned chicken breasts but I love the idea of mixing both white and dark meat! Now that the garden season is over all of the canning videos came to an abrupt halt. I like the idea of canning year round and really appreciate the time and effort you put into bringing the rest of us this needed direction. You are a gifted teacher and I give you an "A"+!❤

    Thanks for sharing your process. How can you tell the 2 that didn't seal? (I'm still learning) ☺️

    • @RowCoFarms
      @RowCoFarms  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The little spot right in the middle of the lid will be somewhat raised like a little button. Once sealed it will suction downward. They did all seal once they cooled off a little.

    Hello Julie I'm looking at a double decker canner I wish I knew how much water goes in to the canner when I double deck the canner. Thank you very much if let me know 😊

    What about adding vinegar to your canner water?

  • @jenn9579
    @jenn9579 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm a new canner. I followed all the safety rules and pressure canned raw chicken bone out. It said not to add liquid that the chicken will produce its own juices. Once they were completed the liquid did not cover all the meat. Now it looks like its growing mold. I also read that if liquid doesn't cover the meat the meat will look ugly but still OK to eat. So don't know if its mold or just look ugly. Any ideas?

    Looks good, but fuzzy math? The commercially canned chicken has no bones in the weight...

  • @gplus1000

    75 minutes for bone in chicken, but 90 minutes won't hurt it any.

      Wow what a great deal on those birds! If you find a deal then sometimes you have to take it. Glad you were able to make good use of it all. Thanks for being here. I’m looking forward to seeing the girls again this weekend. ❤️
