- People often forget the 99 and 00 FRC was a thing. Without it we may not have ever got the Z06 back Here is a the fun story about the very unique cars inception. Enjoy.

I just bought FRC two days ago. Awesome car, I’ve bought and owned two Camaro’s over the last ten years but this is whole a different level. I personally prefer the hatch c5, but I could not find one in a manual transmission anywhere near me and I got tired of waiting. Mine is a 1999 and it has the hud, the pop ups are awesome 🔥🇺🇸
"All Corvettes are Red" is the best Corvette book out there. I'm currently reading it for the second time. If someone is interested in hearing about the creation and development of the C5, you will learn more about the car than you could imagine. The book goes into extreme detail about the engineering and decisions that impacted the C5's final design and it's a very interesting read that makes you fall in love with the car even more. It really shows how much time, thought, and effort goes into making a new Corvette.
I have a 99’ FRC with HUD fog lights etc. 2nd owner. The guy who originally bought the car, ordered it with a few extras. Love the car. Black on Black.

Fun video.. the FRC looks better than the hatchback style coupe, there's still plenty of storage in the trunk, especially for 2 sets of golf clubs. About a year ago I posted a comment on here saying i was going to get a 99-00 FRC but times have changed. After tossing the idea of going either C5, C6 or C7 with the spike in the prices since COVID/inflation, i've changed my focus to a 03-04 C5 Z06. Its still the best bang for the buck. a 14-15 C7 is in the low 40's. Looks like they're all up bout $10k compared to pre-COVID. Started saving a few months ago. As im writing this at the end of March 2023, a clean low mileage one can be found for about $28-33k depending on mileage/condition. I'll be ready in Spring/Summer of 2024 to make a move.
I would be happy with a frc just because I think it looks better than the hatch back and don't need all the bells and whistles to have fun and enjoy the car but would definitely need the ac lol
I had a 2000 FRC in black with the h.u.d.. Instead of the chrome slim spoke wheels you mentioned mine were silver painted. At the time I knew it was a rare one but not particularly sought after. I miss it so much that it is the reason I found this channel. I'm planning to get another C5. Great videos. Keep it up!

DAWR .... now I really regret being passive about my wife's uncle's passing. he had a '99 or '00 FRC but it got away. The silver (sebring?) color. He took me for a ride in it right after he got it home from Bowling Green: the museum delivery.
Me and she just returned from a trip out there in our '01 Z ... 20 years behind! LOL

Yeah I know of a 97 FRC that has an LS7 and lots of mods. It’s red, because all corvettes are red.
I’d like to see that, or an LT4 swap

The FRC was the biggest reason i bought my 02 Z. It had a yesteryear look to the C2 hard top. And my/our interior has a C3 look. And lastly, the pop up headlights remained traditional. Have you seen the jacked up prices on Vettes lately? Absolutely nuts!! Insane!! Bonkers!! Unhinged!! Wacko!! Bat $#!) crazy!!

Really awesome, casual review of the "first one". I just picked up a '99 FRC with 64k on it and, luckily, pristine. Having dealer change the harmonic and I will change original, date stamped, radiator & heater hoses. Sheesh. Any other short-list suggestions?
HUD was available on later production FRC’s in 99. I own one.

Thanks for the info. I'd love to explore getting one, but the wild pace of price increases has probably taken a C5 out of my future.
heavily modded 03 LS6 and M12/bcm and ecm in my Pewter Y2K FRc call it Frankenstein Did all the work myself
personally i think the best C5 is the clear glass targa top c5 (which i have) with a 6 speed and a ls3 under the hood :)
a buddy of mine has a 2002 Z06 both of ours are black on black on black
and when we go to events people always look at mine more and its just a stock C5 iv not ls3 swapped mine yet
I’m currently converting my 98 coupe to a FRC while retaining the targa removable top which really wouldn’t make it a FRC 🤨on my TH-cam channel. Think I’m the first to ever vlog the process.

FRC had nothing special until it became the Z06. GM tried to capture the Foxbody Mustang LX 5.0L lightning in a bottle but failed.

Since making that video I learned very few FRC actually did have a HUD optioned. Or someone threw one in later? 🤷🏼♂️
….ummmm my Artic White ‘99 FRC does not have a key hole on the passenger side, only drivers side. 😉
