Your theories are often right ... and not anymore ... I have seen unknown artists immediately sell for high amounts of money in less than 6 months after posting on social media. Some of these artists often do not care much about the "fame"... as an ex private banker (Geneva) I can tell you that the amount go high net worth individual as skyrocketed ... the demand for "unique" is super high while supply is super low ... 1) Find where those rich people hang out during the summer, they tend to have time to visit your studio or art show 2) Rent a pop up store for three months in Ibiza, Marbella, Cannes, or any place where those people hang out 3) Once they see you, you are legit ...
I have $300 in my bank account. That should cover everything. So tomorrow I'm hoping to lug all of my work onto a commercial plane and fly from NYC to Ibiza. Just kidding. Although there are always exceptions to general guidelines, you've offered some good advice too. Thanks.
The tiers of emerging artist was very humbling needed as an aspiring* artist. This video came at the right time as I am working out realistic goals and milestones needed on my journey to become a professional artist.
The duration the artist has been working professionally?? Isn't this important in categorising them anywhere among the tiers of emerging you have mentioned?
Hi Matt! I think it could. But I also thought it was more important to show other identifiers. Someone could be a practicing artist for 30 years and never move past emerging artist. However, this is only my opinion, opened to be challenged. Also in my opinion.. You can be identified as professional but also be matured emerging or “mid career”. But now we have to define “mid career”.
