So happy to hear you figured this out as a teen! It is so upsetting for people when their dermatologist tells them that diet makes no difference when there is a clear and research proven link behind the relationship of acne and dairy. I should have gone to this in more detail in my video! Thanks for sharing 😊
Hi everyone, I know this can be a very sensitive topic for many. If you have a strong opinion, awesome -- please share it! But I do ask that you be respectful to other people's views and opinions. Thanks in advance!
@@joyoushealth Hi, Joy! I just discovered you and have watched some of your videos already. I'm kind of curious as to why you feel the need to take supplements. As a nutritionist, you have a lot of knowledge about the nutrients we can get from various foods. I presume you believe in the power of good food as well. With that said, don't the foods that you eat everyday provide enough nutrients? Sorry for asking the question in this video. I just thought there's a better chance of you seeing it in a newer video.
@@koolpebble Thanks for your question. I've always said food first and supplements are supplemental to a good diet. However, even if you eat 100% organically grown foods and eat the most nourishing diet possible, food is simply not as nutrient dense as it was 50 years ago as evidence has shown and unfortunately, research and statistics have demonstrated that people are deficient in vitamin D, not consuming enough fruits and veggies, lacking in omega-3 fatty acids and sorely missing out on fibre. In fact, in Canada, the main source of fruit and veggie intake comes from juice and white potato. It's not much different in the U.S. I believe it's oranges and white potato. Beyond diet, people have a lot for their body to contend with, from stress that depletes essential nutrients to the birth control that depletes B vitamins, vitamin C, good bacteria, antibiotics that wipe out both good and bad microbes -- I could go on and on. We are so lucky that we have supplements that we can rely on that are supplemental to a good diet. However, I've been singing the praises for food first since I became a nutritionist since 2009 but if you're a new follower and you only watch my vids it may be hard to gather my philosophy from one video. Hope that helps!
Hi, thank you for your great advise! Im just a bit confused on which kind of cheeses exactly are the best option? what about plain cheddar?Gouda? Please, it'd very helpful if you can advise on this.
@@whitneyleon-peruanaensudaf364 for children or adults sensitive to dairy, the next best option will be a goat or sheep based cheese because as I discuss in my video the casein protein in these cheeses are much less allergenic. If you still have trouble with those cheeses, then take a break from dairy altogether.
Thank you so much for this video! My son is a year old and we were ready to switch to “organic milk” then I had a friend tell me to look into why we shouldn’t drink cows milk. I’m glad I did!
Glad you found my video! My daughter is now 5 and she's had no cow's milk other than some cheese here and there but it just goes to show you that children absolutely thrive with or without milk and it's not a necessary part of our diet.
@@joyoushealth Absolutely! It’s just so crazy how it is so engraved in our brains.. I had heard about how dairy wasn’t great for us in the past before I had my son but the fact that we are told that when our babies turn one and then we give them cows milk I just instantly thought that’s next! Then a friend of mine told me to look into it more and it clicked. I guess old habits die hard especially the bad ones! Thanks for the videos and I’m excited to try your stuffed sweet potatoes my son is a sweet potato fanatic! :) ❤️
thank you Joy for all the amazing videos! I am thinking of trying the goat milk for my 14-month-old who is also breastfed and has a bit of eczema and multiple night wakings for months. I was wondering if you gave Vienna the milk right before bed and did you warm it up? (if so, how?). Also, what type of cup did you use? I am currently giving little one HiPP growing up 1+ milk in a baby bottle in addition to breastfeeding but she doesn't want the bottle anymore. My husband is now putting her to bed so I'm hoping he can give her something in the evening. Thank you so much!
I'm sorry I'm late seeing this. I never warmed it up only because Vienna didn't seem to mind at all. At night I always nursed. If your daughter has eczema I would be cautious with any dairy at all but goat is going to be a better option than cow for sure. Is she having any other forms of dairy? If she's having cow dairy right now, I would remove that first and see if it makes a difference and if it does then you could continue with the goat milk. I had Lolla cup and didn't really do sippy cups. Giving the goat milk before may help with nighttime waking if she's waking up because she is hungry. It's always so much trial and error! I hope that helps!
@@joyoushealth thank you so much Joy! I truly appreciate the advice. I have not yet ever given her cow’s milk but she has dairy from the formula she used to drink. Also organic dairy from some Icelandic style yogurt, mozzarella cheese string (sometimes as a snack) and some cottage cheese - all organic. I didn’t want her to develop a dairy allergy so I gave her dairy. I will give the goat milk a try for her and also want to check out your eczema online course.
Hi Joy! Thank you so much for posting this video. I have been told by everyone around me, including doctors to give my 3 and 1 year old cow's milk but I never did. I am soooo happy you made this video. You are such a positive and inspirational mom and business woman;) Can you please do a video on what Vienna eats in a day? That would be so helpful. Thank you for everything you do!!!
Glad to hear that! I'm the same... dairy made me so puffy. Everyone thought I lost weight when I stopped drinking my daily cappuccino with cow's milk but that's ALL I changed.
I just watched your video my family stop drinking cows milk a long time ago now we give my grand son goat milk formula my daughter gives him vegan cheese and coconut milk yogurt he’s 13 months he never had cows milk either and I’m so thankful you made this video because she was thinking about switching to a plant base milk but she’s going to keep using the goat milk formula for 12-24 month age range I’m going to watch more of your videos thank you so much this was so helpful
I give my children cow milk. They like it. I don't see any problem with it. I guess this video finally starts around 03:06, once the speaker stops repeating "evidence" over and over again. I note 01:22 to 01:36
Great video! Directly to the point and easy to understand! I’ ve been researching food and nutritions for over 20 years now and I am so happy that you help spread the word that food is medicine. How do you react if your girl is invited to a birthday party where they serve cows milk yoghurt or ice cream? I don’t wanna exclude and restrict my child but on the other hand there are of course certain beliefs (no cows milk) that I want to live by (... if you know what I mean) Keep up the amazing work!! Love your channel & will definitely try some of your recipes!
Martina Whitey great question. Those instances I am not a helicopter parent, I let Vienna make the choice of what she wants to eat and realize I can’t control everything 😊 the main point of my video is that giving your child cow’s milk to thrive is simply not necessary. Hope that helps!
Hello, what about giving a one year old homemade almond milk? If we give our one year old almond milk what can we give her so she will still get the right amount of calcium, vitamin d, etc....? Should we do a mixture of homemade almond milk, walnut milk and coconut milk?
Thank you for this video this helps a ton! My daughter is about to turn one and we are researching what type of milk we want to transition her to. She's currently on a soy-based formula. What do you think about plant-based milks such as a ripple and good flax milk
Hi! I really wanted to know your opinion on pea milk and almond milk for alternatives? Pea milk has sunflower oil which I think is bad for kids? Could please give advice I really can’t decide on alternative for my 1 year old x
I don't recommend cow's milk for children. As you probably heard in my video but as for weaning off formula it is best to speak with your healthcare practitioner. Sorry, I can't help you more.
Great info as always Joy. I just wanted to ask you though if you have a video on the types of foods we should be eating DAILY for a healthy body please? I've been chronically ill for decades,,and although i eat well, i'm sure i'm lacking in nutrients. Plus the skin on my back and forearms is and has been pimply for decades, and as for my hair 😢 its just unrecognisable compared to the luscious locks i had years ago. (I've just signed up for your 4wk hair challenge by the way 😉 so i know that should help). I look forward to hearing from you, and keep up the good work. You're an inspiration, and its encouraging for me to know that you haven't always had the good health that you have now. I'm a true believer that food is our best medicine.
Great advice. I gave up cow’s milk a couple of years ago and switched to soya which I really love the taste of. I’ve heard mixed reports though about how good soya actually is for women. Some advise it’s brilliant, others say the complete opposite. So much contradictory info out there. Anyway, great content as always. 🙏
I think the best thing to do is listen to your body. When I stopped drinking cow's milk I switched to soy as well and then developed hormonal imbalance. I avoid soy now and instead use oat milk, almond or coconut milk in smoothies and such.
Hi, i have an 11-month-old & been contemplating weaning soon due to my hectic work schedule. Can my baby just have all the calories & nutrients he needs from solids alone? And no milk - breast milk or formula or cow’s / goat’s milk.
Is it best to avoid the "block cheeses" sold at the grocery store (such as orange cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, etc.) and stick to artisan-type cheeses? Is there anything specific to look out for when it comes to goat's milk cheese that may make it more processed? Thanks!
It should be a pretty simple list. Here's the ingredients of a good brand of cow milk cheese: Organic unpasteurized milk, salt, bacterial culture, microbial enzyme. As for goat milk cheese, you'll often see calcium chloride added but it's a small amount.
This video is super helpful and I'm loving this type of content! As a first time mom to 9 month old twins, I sometimes find it difficult to understand what's best to give to them. I'm hesitant on giving them cows milk after the one year mark, as I just never understood why. Thank you so much for breaking it all down for me!
Elizabeth Montilla so glad to hear that! Wow twins, busy mama! 😊I think the best thing you can do is your own research so you can make informed decisions and feel confident about your choices! That’s what I do. I research everything, evaluate all sides and then make the best choices for my family (obviously with my hubs input too) 😆
my babies doctor side we have to start cows milk soon for the PROTEIN factor. She actually didn't mention Calcium. I suggested Almond milk, but she rejected the idea. Is ORGANIC MILK really non hormonal, non anti biotic?
I don't connect milk with strong bones any longer. But I see it as a very good source of fat-soluble vitamins. Raw milk is excellent! Although not everyone is good with dairy, as some have developed intolerance to it. The only reason why milk has become harder to digest is because they have become pasteurized and is now lacking the enzymes for our bodies to digest it properly. Although some may tolerate Goat's milk better than cow's! I personally do better with Carabao's milk than Cow's. But I can definitely see the difference when I drink raw milk and UHT milk, the latter giving me painful bloating, gas and surely a pimple the next day! We were once against dairy, but after years of research and experience, dairy has become a better source of vitamins than any plant milk that is full of anti-nutrients and phytic acid (unless you get the sprouted nut milks). In the end, it really does depend on your body as some can tolerate milk and some can't. Our bodies are all different and there is no one right answer for everyone. You guys should look up DAPHNE RELOADED on TH-cam! She drops some surprising truth bombs.
Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment. In Canada, it's not legal to sell raw milk so it is not easy to get. That being said, as an adult it wouldn't be wise to start drinking raw milk without ever being exposed to these bacteria. I have a friend who almost died drinking raw milk as an adult so even though I agree the nutrition being better in unprocessed milk, especially the bacteria would be far superior, I'm just not sure an adult's gut microbiome could handle it. And I totally agree with you, any non-dairy milk is not going to be on par with the fat soluble vitamins found in dairy milk which is why I do not recommend drinking non-dairy milk as a viable nutritional substitute. I recommend eating other foods, which is fairly easy to obtain whether you're on a budget or not. I will check at that youtuber, thanks for the suggestion!
Joyous Health oh, that’s so alarming to hear! Although personally I’ve never had raw milk until last year, as an adult. I’ve only ever had UHT milk. And my gut has been compromised and I actually looked to raw milk to help with gut dysbiosis and ruined teeth that Veganism gave me. I would experience PAINFUL bloating, crazy gas, needing to rush to the bathroom or I’ll crap my pants, I was very close to diabetes and hypoglycemia. But I do understand that it may not work for those immuno-compromised, or something of that sort. Our country doesn’t particularly support raw milk, I had to look to find one willing to sell my family some. But it’s what I had to do to help with my health. Meat and raw milk saved my life, I felt like I was wasting away, needing to rest every two to three hours. And I was a “very healthy” person, I did the whole green shake thing, spent money on superfood, didn’t even eat fake meats, purely whole food based. Wasn’t even scared of fats. It’s scary how you think one thing is healthy but it’s actually the one making you sick. I’m open to learning everything at this point.
Hi - anthropologist here! I agree with you about cows milk not being necessary. However, it WAS a part of our evolution - depending on your ancestry. If your ancestors were herding cows you have evolved to be able to digest cows milk and use it for nutrition. If your ancestors did not , you won’t be able to.
Hi Joy, should the store bought goat milk (pasteurized) be boiled and cooled again before giving to the child or we can just warm it up before drinking?
No, well at least I never warmed it up for my daughter. I just gave it to her chilled and she didn't mind :) So that's really up to you but I wouldn't boil it.
Hi, is it ok if I go dairy free (No cows milk and other milk products) for my 1 year 8 month old daughter. She is breastfeeding right now. But what after she is weaned is my concern....
So I have been torn on this for a while. My daughter is 19 months and not underweight but definitely small and weight gain has been an issue. My doctor told me at the 1 Year mark when I stopped breastfeeding to give whole cow’s milk and because she’s so small to continue until she’s probably 3 or even 4. I give her a cup in the morning (probably 4oz) and I always offer it to her before bed but she rarely takes it. We give her Fairlife because I was convinced by the advertising (50% less sugar, 50% more protein, lactose free). It doesn’t seem to affect her tummy but she does has eczema that I can’t seem to clear. My husband is lactose intolerant and I don’t drink milk so the only reason we give it to her really is because I was told it would help with weight gain. Do the milks you suggested have the same fat content? And can you give me tips on how to get her to consume more? Also regarding cheese, I’m guilty with the cheese strings because my little one loves them and I struggle with getting any food in her! What are your thoughts on Babybel cheese? Thanks, Joy. This has definitely convinced me I need to make a change for my little love.
Also, have you heard of the brand Ripple? It’s a dairy free pea milk - I just saw it at Superstore. Curious if you know anything about it and if that might be something I should consider for my little one.
I would suggest making sure she has lots of healthy fats in her diet to help with weight gain: avocados, hemp hearts. coconut butter in smoothies, olives, nut and seed butters ie. sliced apple slathered with nut butter and sprinkled with hemp hearts + cinnamon, coconut yogurt etc. Those are just a few ideas for you. Also, if she has eczema, what about switching her to goat milk? Harmony Organic sells a wonderful goat milk and it's sold in glass jars which is nice. Cow dairy is implicated with eczema: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12487205 so I would recommend sticking to sheep or goat cheese instead of babybel or cheese strings which are both cow dairy. Hope that helps! If you're looking for more info, check out my Eczema Healing Kit: www.joyoushealth.com/54-joyu-program-eczema-healing-guide Good luck!!
Yes I've seen that brand. It looks decent but I have to take a closer look at the ingredients list. I like that it's refrigerated which typically means there are fewer preservatives. If you're going to switch to a non-dairy milk just makes sure you cycle the nut milks so she doesn't develop an allergy from having the same kind every day.
Thanks for this video Joy! What type of cows cheese do you recommend? My daughter isn’t a big fan of goat or sheep cheese. She loves drinking sheep milk though.
Sumita D that’s great! It’s not necessary to add it to your child diet if she doesn’t seem into it. A child can grow up perfectly healthy without any dairy 👍🏻
Jennifer Cogswell processed cheese has a list of ingredients, just like processed foods. Think cheese strings vs a log of organic goat cheese. So you know it’s processed if it has flavorings, dyes, hydrogenated fats, preservatives, stabilizers, excess sodium, wheat etc. Kraft brand of cheeses are ones I would avoid.
I think going to an allergist can be one piece of the puzzle and rule out any immediate/anaphylactic allergies but doesn't rule out food intolerances or sensitivities.
Do you have a video covering foods you prepare for babies and toddlers? I need quick and healthy ideas for my one year old who will only eat beans, tortillas, and my smoothies.
Hi Allison! Sounds like your little one is eating some great foods :) I don't have a video but I do have a great blog post: www.joyoushealth.com/24657-blog-baby-food-introduction
This is a great topic to discuss. The evidence is clear, however, many countries (like mine) still have this food group in their health recommendations, so it’s very confusing for everyone, specially when the pediatrician is the one insisting on give them cow’s milk. You mention the effect on teenagers with acne, but also people with asthma can also find many benefits skipping this milk because of mucus production. So i think the most important thing to do here if anyone are still undecided to take the next step is to make your own investigation about it. You can find research all over the internet. That way everyone will have solid argument when people ask for more reasons why they are making this decision.
I agree with you. You've gotta find what works best for your body and doing your own research is the best way to feel confident in your choices. Thanks for your thoughtful comment.
Hi Joy, my baby is 14 months and I still breastfeed her but like you, my milk supply has decreased substantially! I have a mom friend who donates me some of her breast milk but my question is until when do I have to give her milk (breast/formula/goat). When is it that she won’t necessarily need the milk intake anymore? For some reason I feel like I can never get a clear answer on this. Thank you so much for the video and please please post more about baby/ toddler food. Us moms need so bad to learn and share more on this subject.
I'm sure your doctor will advise you of this but beyond 1 year old you do not need to give infant formula that's why many pediatricians recommend cow's milk at that point. If your daughter is eating full meals and snacking, I would suggest you could just rely on your own milk supply but at this point, the majority of her calories will be from solid foods. One thing my daughter has always loved that fills her up are smoothies. Cow milk is not needed to be healthy, so you don't have to introduce that to your daughter if you don't want to. Not sure if you have a naturopathic doctor or nutritionist, I would recommend speaking to them for more specific recommendations. Hope that helps!
Will cows milk organic kefir worsen my acne, that's the only form of dairy I consume. I use to drink so much milk as a child now I've completely stopped.
shavacadoo it’s hard to say without trying it. Kefir will have a few million bacteria and maybe 10-15 different strains making it amazing for gut health which is the foundation of healthy skin but some people are still sensitive to the milk proteins. It’s also way more nutritious than cow’s milk. So all that being said, if you’re sensitive to milk proteins you would be better off using coconut based kefir - delicious too!
Hi Joy. This topic is timely. I’m in the middle of reading your book Joyous Health. One of the suggestions I’m trying to implement is to wean myself off of milk. So far, I’m failing. I really enjoy milk with my coffee. I’ve tried almond milk, but the texture and aftertaste...yuck!. Can you recommend a good brand of Almond milk that doesn’t taste like $h!t? Thanks! Love your channel.
I actually really love oat milk, of all the non-dairy milks, I find it has the most neutral taste. It also froths really well for lattes too! Enjoy my book!!
shavacadoo I think you can answer that question better than me because you know your body. For some people it can trigger symptoms but you won’t know until you’ve tried it. I don’t do well it myself so I use it in very limited amounts.
Is this info all about homogenized/pasteurized dairy? I'm wondering about raw milk that does have the "shlop" of cream at the top. 😂 Thanks, Joy for this video!
New moma here and my baby is only 6 months. Lately, ive been producing less milk. After watching this, I wonder what kind of milk to give my son. We live in the Philippines so sheep's and goat's milk aren't that common (and popular). Is oat milk or almond milk ok for my baby? Hoping to hear from you soon. Thanks.
Hi Janine, do you have a naturopath or homeopath you can work with because there are specific herbs you can take to help you produce more breastmilk. That happened to me in the first few months as well and it helped immensely when I took a herbal tincture specifically formulated for me. Also, all these foods in these lactation cookies are helpful: www.joyoushealth.com/24001-blog-best-ever-lactation-cookies At 6 months I would not advise oat or almond milk in place of breastmilk. At this point I would recommend formula until 1 year of age if you can't produce enough. Hope that helps!
@@joyoushealth thanks for the response...much appreciated. These are all noted. Been baking my own oatmeal cookies for milk production and i really want to try making oat milk too. Your channel is gold. Thanks a lot.
My toddler is 20 months she drinks cows milk. What can I give her to change that? And what can I do for vitamin D for her Also is there a video on what ti feed a growing toddler. Thanks
Have you tried goats milk? I would recommend supplementing with vitamin D drops. There are lots of brands for kids at the health food store. As for what to feed toddlers, I have a couple of free ebooks. This one is all healthy snacks: shopjoyoushealth.com/little-food-lovers-raising-healthy-snackers/ and this one is healthy lunches: shopjoyoushealth.com/little-food-lovers-healthy-lunches/ hope that helps! ❤️
Thanks for the above Joy, appreciate it! Could I swap cow's milk for Almond milk instead? I usually let my son who is 3 drink a glass of milk if he did not have a really full dinner. With our first I was unable to breastfeed since birth, we are currently expecting our second child and was wondering what I should look out for when looking for a milk powder for our baby when she comes along. Thanks heaps!!
We recently moved to Australia and came across A2 Milk, could you please share your thoughts on this....a2milk.com.au/our-farms/?gclid=CjwKCAjw96fkBRA2EiwAKZjFTRH9UADEUm_SWuEr0QkCTZjUcTM3xsW1F8MBigHLNUDBso1tXP_MWxoCEJ0QAvD_BwE
Yes you could definitely make that swap for a 3 year old. Oat milk is really great too and much more neutral tasting. When my daughter was doing the same thing at dinner I would always give her a small bowl of coconut yogurt or kefir and some fruit before bed just to get something nutritious. But then of course you have to be cautious they don’t purposely skip dinner so they can have their yogurt and fruit 🤪 as for your second, CONGRATS!! Don’t give up hope about breastfeeding baby #2 because you may be surprised to find out it works this time 😊If not, Holle would be my recommendation for formula. Not sure where you live but in Europe they have an organic / biodynamic goat milk formula by Holle 👍🏻Best of luck!
Sameeya Subedar I have heard about this. My only question is how do they breed them or feed them or how do they process the milk to get only A2? I will have to dig deeper but this may be a nice solution. I do prefer goat milk though because the protein structure is closer to that of breast milk than cow milk, so it’s the better option. Perhaps not as affordable though.
How different is cow milk cheese from cow's milk? And how different is goat's milk and sheep's milk? Your only consideration is taste and health? Ethical and moral consideration? These animals' lives are as worthy as ours.
In Kenya Maasais and Kalenjin communities introduce cow milk to their babies even before weaning, actually it is totally normal to find a small child sucking milk directly from a cow, and people drinking raw milk, and yet people have never suffered osteoporosis as you say, on the contrary people from those communities are known to live to 100 years. You are just teaching fallacy.
I live in South Africa and we only get alot of cow milk... I want to take my daughter off from nan baby formula... and sheep and goat milk is not very popular
This is ridiculous. Human beings have survived on cows milk for thousands of years and as you can see, we thrives. It will be interesting to see what the next generation of soy drinking, seed oil consumption humans will turn into 🤮
I'm definitely not recommending that anyone drink soy milk nor recommending seed oils either. Did you watch the video for the full context? I encourage you to do so since you made those assumptions as it will provide some clarity. I'm a nutritionist and I can tell you anecdotally that when my clients remove milk from their diet many of their health problems from eczema to asthma to allergies and more subside. That being said, if it works for you, keep on slurping!
You might want to watch Neal Barnard's video "Dairy is Dangerous"
It might change your mind on eating cheese as well.
You said No to 🐄 milk, yet eat cheese made from it that's a contradiction, so you may as well drink 🐄 milk(which I don't recommend).

You are such a positive and inspirational mom and business woman;)
Can you please do a video on what Vienna eats in a day? That would be so helpful. Thank you for everything you do!!!
Anna Wajda yes, this is a great idea! Although if it was up to her all she’d eat would be strawberries and mango #momproblems 🤪
yes! Giving up dairy completed changed my life. I do still eat cheese occasionally but not as often as I was.
Glad to hear that! I'm the same... dairy made me so puffy. Everyone thought I lost weight when I stopped drinking my daily cappuccino with cow's milk but that's ALL I changed.
@@joyoushealth I had severe acne all my life and no amount of medicine my dr gave me helped. Then I gave up dairy. I saw improvements in a week.
katie Orf I’m so happy to hear that!!
What about icecream?
I just watched your video my family stop drinking cows milk a long time ago now we give my grand son goat milk formula my daughter gives him vegan cheese and coconut milk yogurt he’s 13 months he never had cows milk either and I’m so thankful you made this video because she was thinking about switching to a plant base milk but she’s going to keep using the goat milk formula for 12-24 month age range I’m going to watch more of your videos thank you so much this was so helpful
Hello, what goat's milk formula do you give your grandson?
Could you please do a video of what Vienna eats in a day? Would be so helpful to us moms transitioning our babies from breastmilk to solid food!
Hi, would love to know your advice on how much “milk” to give a one year old to wean them off formula.
I don't recommend cow's milk for children. As you probably heard in my video but as for weaning off formula it is best to speak with your healthcare practitioner. Sorry, I can't help you more.
What about folic acid?
I’ve heard that goats milk has a very low amount of folic acid .
Go vegan
Great advice. I gave up cow’s milk a couple of years ago and switched to soya which I really love the taste of. I’ve heard mixed reports though about how good soya actually is for women. Some advise it’s brilliant, others say the complete opposite. So much contradictory info out there. Anyway, great content as always. 🙏
I think the best thing to do is listen to your body. When I stopped drinking cow's milk I switched to soy as well and then developed hormonal imbalance. I avoid soy now and instead use oat milk, almond or coconut milk in smoothies and such.
Soy is the worst drink coconut milk or hemp
Hi, i have an 11-month-old & been contemplating weaning soon due to my hectic work schedule. Can my baby just have all the calories & nutrients he needs from solids alone? And no milk - breast milk or formula or cow’s / goat’s milk.
Great video sis! As a holistic practitioner and just human, why would I ever give my child another animals milk, let alone cows milk
I research everything, evaluate all sides and then make the best choices for my family (obviously with my hubs input too) 😆
Love this video, Joy! Thank you.
my babies doctor side we have to start cows milk soon for the PROTEIN factor. She actually didn't mention Calcium. I suggested Almond milk, but she rejected the idea. Is ORGANIC MILK really non hormonal, non anti biotic?
Do you have any brands you recommend for goats milk, cheese, and yogurt? My son will be one soon :)
Sascha Raine it’s amazing you found what works for you and that’s the most important thing. Glad you are feeling better now! 😊
Mama Bee I agree with you, I was speaking about what we humans evolved on eating before we started keeping livestock. 👍🏻Thanks for your comment!
Very interesting. You have me convinced.
Great information Joy thanks for sharing 💕🌹
Yes.
Joyous Health thanks so much for your helpful response!
This was so easy and informative. 10/10
Hi could you explain what cheese would be the better choice as non processed goes?
Jennifer Cogswell processed cheese has a list of ingredients, just like processed foods. Think cheese strings vs a log of organic goat cheese. So you know it’s processed if it has flavorings, dyes, hydrogenated fats, preservatives, stabilizers, excess sodium, wheat etc. Kraft brand of cheeses are ones I would avoid.
Amazing video, good job
Can you share your thoughts about going to an allergist to test for milk or other allergies or food sensitivities?
Very good to know that we don’t need to give to our baby cow’s milk
Can you just tell the best cheese?
Merci
Will cows milk organic kefir worsen my acne, that's the only form of dairy I consume. I use to drink so much milk as a child now I've completely stopped.
shavacadoo it’s hard to say without trying it. Kefir will have a few million bacteria and maybe 10-15 different strains making it amazing for gut health which is the foundation of healthy skin but some people are still sensitive to the milk proteins. It’s also way more nutritious than cow’s milk. So all that being said, if you’re sensitive to milk proteins you would be better off using coconut based kefir - delicious too!
Hi Joy
i can give my baby almond milk ?
Thank youuu
Hi Joy! I thought yoghurt was great, I mean cow’s milk yoghurt. And greek yoghurt?
Jocelyn Josue hey! I would try milkidamia. It’s a little pricey, but they have a creamer that is SO yummy. Good luck!
I have ulcerative colitis do u think taking nutritional yeast will worsen my inflammation?
shavacadoo I think you can answer that question better than me because you know your body. For some people it can trigger symptoms but you won’t know until you’ve tried it. I don’t do well it myself so I use it in very limited amounts.
Thanks Joy👍🏻🥛🥛🥛
My pleasure :)
I saw my sister give my nephews cows milk, and he was anemic. So i saw it with my own eyes. Its true.
Is this info all about homogenized/pasteurized dairy? I'm wondering about raw milk that does have the "shlop" of cream at the top. 😂 Thanks, Joy for this video!
Oh ya raw milk is definitely NOT pasteurized that's why it's called raw. You'll still have the same inflammatory proteins in raw though.

And what can I do for vitamin D for her
Also is there a video on what ti feed a growing toddler.
@@joyoushealth thanks so much. I really appreciate your advice !!!
I agree whenever I eat ice cream or anything with cow dairy my face breaks out in cystic acne.
Michael Rodriguez I’m actually not, I can still eat yogurt and cheese just not ice cream
Yes this is quite common, glad you figured it out though!
I dont really understand how caw Milk and Cheese are nor as bad
Good information
Ah!! Thanks for all the details. Much appreciated. @@joyoushealth
Lactoferrin?
How different is cow milk cheese from cow's milk? And how different is goat's milk and sheep's milk? Your only consideration is taste and health? Ethical and moral consideration? These animals' lives are as worthy as ours.
This made me want some cheese and milk
K2 + D3 is what strengthen bones not calcium on the contrary too much calcium can soften bones and cause it ti become brittle

Plz do alopecia areata video for kids💜💕🙏🏽
In Kenya Maasais and Kalenjin communities introduce cow milk to their babies even before weaning, actually it is totally normal to find a small child sucking milk directly from a cow, and people drinking raw milk, and yet people have never suffered osteoporosis as you say, on the contrary people from those communities are known to live to 100 years. You are just teaching fallacy.
That milk is vastly different than the milk people are slurping in North America which is pasteurized and homogenized.
I live in South Africa and we only get alot of cow milk... I want to take my daughter off from nan baby formula... and sheep and goat milk is not very popular
Lol my husbands middle name is cheese..
It’s great you can afford all those expensive alternatives.
Are you talking about sheep or goat cheese? Just avoid dairy if you want to save money, it's not necessary to thrive.
*drinks milk while watching this*
Jk I’m lactose intolerant
Kate Is Great haha, you do you
This is ridiculous.
