Hi guys! Thank you all so so much for your comments, support, and sharing your own stories. I'll be saving many of your questions for a future video(s) including a Q&A, so look out for that sometime in the future. One of you said in the comments that we're all in this together, and you know what? We are. Regardless of your health struggle, nobody is ever alone. Thank you all so much for watching and listening. xo Meghan
Meghan Livingstone thank you so much for sharing this, Sometimes it feels like you are so alone when you are having health problems you don't realize that other people feel isolated too
Thank you very much for sharing your story. I had a really bad time a few years back because they detected the presence of HP in my stomach. Except that they gave me the big treatment for those having ulcers due to this bacteria, yet I was only having sometimes some light pain and was bloated. In short, the prolonged antibiotics (20 days, it was crazy!!!) and no probiotics to help maintain my flora resulted in a catastrophe. I couldn’t digest anything without having skin rashes, more pain in my stomach, lost of a appetite. And it touched everything, including my hormones. I learned nutrition afterwards and did some research, complemented with pro/prebiotics, spirulina etc. My gut health after 4 years finally seems to be coming back to “normal”, but I still have fluctuations about my cycles. So my question for you, dear Meghan, is how would you regulate your daily food intake (and supplementation) to regulate your menstruations? I’d love to know your ways. Because I already tried a few things according to what I’ve learned in holistic nutrition, but I do trust you more. Anyways, sorry for the long text. I wish you health and lots of joy! Love from Switzerland.
Hi very good video .... So my story .. I almost died from Cdiff and shit blood for 3 years with chronic IBS and diarrhea . I went on a ONLY fruit diet for 3 months and it 100% cured me . Hope this helps . TH-cam dr Robert morse
I had c diff in November 2021 took Vancomycin and thank godddd I haven't had any issues since. I took L-Glutamine early on and ate probiotic foods, eliminated junk/processed foods from my life and I think that truly healed me. Now January 2022 I can eat all foods and have alcoholic beverages like I did before C diff but I am definitely more mindful of the foods I eat now and I eat more for nutrition and well-being than pleasure.
Oh Meghan, you and I have such similar stories! Digestive issues are SO frustrating. I remember being so heartbroken that there wasn't a simple cure to my problems - it is something I have to deal with and manage for the rest of my life. Thank you for sharing your story and for always making great videos that have to do with gut health!
Hi Gina! Digestive issues are frustrating to say the least -- it took a long time for me to really accept what I was dealing with and would have to deal with for much longer than I ever imagined. Thank you so much for watching and for being here! Big hugs xoxoxo
Hi Meghan, thank you for sharing your experience. I was diagnosed with C Diff in February this year after taking antibiotics to cure a skin infection. After a 10 day course of Vancomycin, the symptoms subsided. However, a week after the antibiotic course, I relapsed in March. This time the symptoms were much more severe, I couldn't eat and could rarely drink and I was in hospital for a couple of days. The hospital put me on an anti sickness drug which yes, stopped me from going to the toilet, but it didn't stop the infection building up inside. They needed a stool sample to confirm the C Diff had returned before they could treat me with anti-biotics. So I waited in excruciating pain for several days until the doctors eventually gave me a 14 day course of Vancomycin. I remember after taking the first tablet, within an hour I felt much better. I took them this time with probiotics (ones that I could take with antibiotics), so I would build up the good bacteria. This worked okay-ish... My gut, as you have said, has never gone back to normal. I am having to eliminate foods from my diet in fear of having another "episode". Now, in June, I fear another relapse is in progress. I just think the infection has done irreparable damage to my already sensitive gut :( . I have been reading and watching several videos of treatment of C Diff, relapse rates and antibiotics etc, hence how I have stumbled across your video. It is causing unnecessary stress and anxiety in already a difficult time for everyone with this pandemic, I just want it to go away! 😒
Well, try to slowly build up your gut biome. Slowly, very slowly add bits of cooked vegetables, take Tributyrin-X, take good enzymes when you eat. Add a bit of humic, fulvic acids to your water. Take good probiotics. These things would gradually help. I am getting better gradually. I have IBS-D. It has been severe.
I had A horrible strain of CDIff in 2014. They started me on vancomycin but every time I stopped it it came back. After several months they gave me Dificid. It’s much stronger than vancomycin and it targets only the CDIff bacteria, and not your good bacteria. I don’t know why they don’t prescribe that to people because vancomycin works while you are taking it, But as soon as you stop it the CDIff comes back. Once I took the deficid for 10 days, the C diff never came back. Maybe you could ask your doctor about it if the CDF comes back.
@@marytorres9558 thanks for your comment I have been okay for a year and a half but every time i get a bit stomach sick I get super anxious it might be the cdiff, what secondary symptoms did you get with difficid?
Your intestinal lining actually uses L-glutamine as fuel to create a strong surface for digestion and absorption. Supplementing with L-glutamine is the most effective treatment to heal the gut lining for those suffering from leaky gut, malabsorption, or inflammatory bowel disease (IBS, Crohn's, Ulcerative colitis).
@@abcd-sf5ur idk, I have Ibs and here is what helped me have better bowel movements and less irritation: 1. Quit caffeine (this is huge) I drink “mud water” coffee alternative instead, it has tumeric Which helps a lot to have tumeric on an empty stomach. 2. L glutamine helps a lot 3. Eating organic 4. No smoking or drinking alcohol 5. Quality high fiber drinks not ones with sugar 6. Intermittent fasting 7. Green juice fast here and there for like 3 days
This is a wonderful example of how IBS can be caused by many possible root causes. It's also so great to share your experience, so many people are suffering, thank you ❤
I'm so glad you shared this & so glad you've found things that work for you and that you've found more balance and relief! I'd love to know more of the details of the foods that work for you, cause you to flare up, etc. I'd also be interested in hearing your experience with the naturopath :)
Oh my heart broke for you watching this video. After being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis myself I know how hard it can be to have that this is a chronic illness realization. Bless you for sharing your story!
Ahh it was a very hard day that day. I remember wanting to rise about it though and prove to myself that I can get better. What a journey it's been and still is. Thank you for listening and I wish you well on your gut journey, too. :) xoxoxo
I have been praying for this video for 3 months! I havent been able to find any videos that talk about what happens AFTER!! Thank you for putting a video out there for me to finally run in to!! I also have C.Diff with colitis along with chronic kidney stones and POTS... My recovery consists of a lot of medicines, bathroom time, fatigue and food elimination. I feel like I'm in the constant state of mourning with very little answers and direction (insurance red tape). Everything thing I hear is "you can't do this" or "you can't eat that"!Its getting old lol... Thank you so much for sharing your very sensitive and personal story. I cried like a 44 year old cry baby soon as you said the word c.diff! Lol.. This Is the first video I've watched of yours and I'm so excited to watch more! Warm wishes of healing to you 💚
Hi Nichole! Oh my goodness, I know exactly how isolating this all is! I can only imagine how it felt to come across someone talking about a shared experience -- I've not known anybody in my personal life who had C. diff. Thanks for your comment and there is hope to get better :) xx
You have no idea how much i relate to this story. Same thing, except i did not have cdiff, but a violent gastroenteritis that never resolved. Thank you for sharing. I have this daily condition since May 2022. I’m in bad shape right now. Watching your video eases my despair.
Having had gut health issues on the other side of the spectrum for the past few years now, I so appreciate you sharing this video and I would love to see more healing recipes or food videos!
Hi Ashlynne! I'll definitely share some more healing recipes/food related videos in the future! Thank you for listening to my story -- IBS is no fun. xx
I can't believe how much our stories are alike to some point. I was recently diagnosed with IBS after an c dif outburst that tested negative recently. Still having some problems and trying to figure out how to manage this in the best way possible but It definetly changed a lot of things in my life and I kinda always have that fear that it'll relapse. One of the doctors that saw me said to me "relax, u'll never get rid of this type of problem, u'll just learn to keep it under control" 😅. It helps to know that other people got thru with it and are now somehow near normal.
It will get better, trust it. From March last year until December I took probiotics daily and it helped, started to cut'em down little by little, I still got some problema from time to time especially when taking antibiotics, but I didn't followed a strict diet and my life is pretty much as before excepting the ocassional pills. At some point it's just in your head, try to let go and accept it, be prepared for unexpected situations but don't ruin your life trying to calculate every aspect of this condition, it's not worth it. Good luck!
@@ilovescarjotake good care of what you're eating for a while and stay away from smoking, driking and sodas and try to make that your routine and you'll feel better. There's nothing standard, see what works for you and what makes you sick, maybe try some probiotics. Hope you'll be ok🤝
I so appreciate your candidness! I myself ended up with severe reflux last year after having antibiotics for dental work. It took many doctors and many months to get it sorted out including several rounds with a naturopath. I'm 99% better now, but the journey back to health has been eye opening to say the least. This was all happening during my training to be a holistic health coach and has really given me so much more sympathy and compassion for my clients. Taking the natural path can be difficult sometimes as healing can take more time, but I truly believe that healing naturally is more complete and doesn't lead to other unwanted side effects.
Yes! I totally agree - allowing ourselves the time and opportunity to heal naturally as much as possible can be exhausting and difficult, but there's a wholesomeness to it. I know that frustration of what antibiotics can result in, so I hear you! Big hugs xoxo
Hey! I'm so glad your feeling better :) what did you for the acid because I'm going through the same thing! After a tooth infection I was on antibiotics and I've had acid ever since!
Thank you for sharing! I was diagnosed with SIBO last fall and have been working with a functional medicine doc and nutritionist to work toward healing. It’s been a rough road! Hearing your story is encouraging. Thank you!!
Thanks for sharing your story. I have been fight with this same thing for 4 years now and have tried everything. Had all the same tests you have mentioned and Drs just use the term IBS as a blanket statement for we don't know what it is. My triggers are stress, constipation and a lack of sleep. I just want to say to everyone here that is suffering from this awful thing, that i recently have been taking magnesium and that seems to help for constipation but what really has given me the most relief is the colloidal silver i have made myself. I did my homework in this process and can say that for me it has given me 4 months of relief and i have been eating all the same foods pre IBS. If anyone else has tried it with success please share your story.
Sorry to hear it’s been so difficult Meghan and thank you for your honesty. I’d love to hear more about FODMAP and any gut healing foods/recipes that have worked for you. I have suffered from IBS all my adult life. Hugs from London xx
Hi Meghan, thanks for sharing your story, I can really relate, Im currently on the low FODMAP diet and being treated for SIBO after years of awful stomach problems that always got the diagnosis of IBS and sent on my way to live with it, until I finally found a naturopath who took the time to keep working with me. Good luck, love your channel!
I know that struggle of being left in the dark!! Oh man. So happy you've found a naturopath. It's a journey but it's so worth it -- we're in this together! xoxo
So glad you shared this with us, it must have been difficult, but as someone who's had pretty much the same problems i totally understand it! I had post infectious IBS after a ruptured appendix left too long gave me peritonitis. Like you it eventually resolved itself a couple of years later with avoiding certain foods etc. (my mum's a dietitian on the NHS here in the UK - very helpful to have at home!). But at university it came back with a vengeance after I had to take loads of antibiotics for bacterial tonsillitis. I'm still getting over it five years later, the thing that helped me the most is following a low fermentation diet for SIBO. I think it's quite similar to Fodmap, i basically avoid any food that ferments in my small intestine, which would feed the bad bacteria. It has helped a lot, as I wasn't allowed to take any more antibiotics. There are still bad days as i'm still dealing with adhesions left by surgery for the appendix getting in the way as well, but I feel as though it's getting better. I also had developed a fear of food, still dealing with that in therapy as I need to gain some weight, but i'd never heard of anyone else with this problem, so thank you so much for doing this video, it's nice to know we're not alone! ❤️ Hugs from England xx
Hi there! Thank you so so much for watching, and for sharing! That all sounds so difficult :( It's so hard to deal with such long-lasting issues, and gut issues are absolutely no fun at all. We're definitely not alone though - I've learned just from these comments that SO many people are in the same or similar boat. By the way, I'm visiting England this June and very excited to be back for a second time! :) xoxo
I love that you shared this!! I have had Crohn’s disease for ten years and still find it amazing that people go through what I did too! Thank you Meghan 💕
I may not be in your position, but as someone who became lactose intolerant after having my first child and having a mother who's allergic to gluten I just want to say....thank you for sharing your story ❤ it helps to know that you are not alone
I went through that situation too, when I was in 7th grade. It was absolutely horrible. Couldn't eat anything and was always hungry and became very irritable and angry with everything and everyone because of it. I've never experienced it again, but also have never ever been the same. Every year I notice that there's another thing that I can't eat anymore, because it makes my gut upset. I've started a food journal this year and tracked everything I eat in a day and how those foods make me feel. It's easier to remind myself "Hey, don't eat that or eat just a small portion". I still have a quite unhealthy lifestyle and I am sure it has contributed to the gradual intolerance of some foods, but I'm taking steps towards becoming more healthy. Thank you for sharing your story! :)
Food intolerances are so frustrating sometimes. It's great that you're keeping a food journal though! That is one of the top things I recommend for those who are dealing with sensitivities/gut issues/etc. Good for you for taking healthy steps forward, and thank you for watching! :) xoxoxo
Thank you for sharing your story! ♥️ I was diagnosed with IBS about four years ago and I can so relate to your experiences and I think it so important to talk about this with people, thank you again for a great video and a great channel!!
Hey Elouise!! Really happy this video resonated with you. IBS is no fun and can be so incredibly isolating and it's definitely important to talk about. I hope your gut is doing okay! :)
Thank you so much for sharing your story. My 7 year old daughter has been going through the same thing starting with salmonella 2 years ago and I have had the same experiences in GI offices as her mother, fighting back the tears and just wishing she could eat food without being in pain. Low FODMAP and no nightshades made a huge difference for her and she's now able to eat much more variety, which we are so thankful for, but I still feel the food phobia anytime she shows signs of a flare up. It's awful to be afraid to feed your child. But it's comforting to know that the food fear is normal for someone dealing with a gut health crisis. Thank you and take care.
Hi Jen, I can't imagine how hard it would be to see your child struggling like that. For myself it's been a rollercoaster, but as a mother I'm sure it's so so hard. Yay for low FODMAP and more variety though! I hope in time she continues to heal :)
Thank you Meghan for sharing intimate parts of your life, and well done for trying to get it all sorted, you are a very smart lady and am very sure your testimony will greatly help people suffering with the same things as you, i worked in a chemist and i wasn,t the smartest by far but one thing i did learn was to bring things into a very simplistic way so people could understand and i am sure you felt very lonely at your worst time, and so your honesty is brave and will bless so many, no need to reply save it for the ones who maybe are poorly who need some love and advice, take care keep up the good work love Jacqueline
Dear Meghan, I commend you for sharing your personal story with us, and I am so sorry you’ve had to suffer with C-dif. I am a healthcare worker and know that this can be fatal in our elderly and immune-suppressed patients. Taking antibiotics is very serious, especially when we are faced with resistant bacteria, as well as viruses for anti-virals. Literally these bugs are mutating, hence the “super bug” epidemic we are living in. I can’t tell ppl enough, that keeping our immune systems strong is so vitally important. As you were explaining your issues, food allergies came to mind and the importance for ppl suffering with gut issues to explore those possibilities, too. I’ve been in healthcare for many years and see so much pain and suffering from lifestyle choices. It makes me so grateful to be healthy and to want to stay healthy, which is one of the reasons I admire you so much💙 Your quest and passion for sharing your knowledge about holistic nutrition and lifestyle touch’s many of us on a personal level, as well. We are all in this together, so thank you for sharing your healing journey! It means so much to me🌻
Hi Renee! Thank you so much for your support, it means SO much to me. You're absolutely right about keeping our immune systems strong, it's so important yet can be so overlooked. Food allergies are certainly something to consider as well! Thank you again for your support and for always leaving such lovely comments. I appreciate having you here, thanks for listening xoxoxoxo
Sorry to hear about your struggles! Did you know that although the FDA has only approved Fecal Microbial Transplants (FMT) for c-difficile infection at this time, in the research setting, scientists are currently exploring how they may help with IBD (Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis), IBS, colon cancer, autism, and obesity? So stay tuned!
I have had IBS D since coming back from Thailand in "05 but have had major progress in 2012 after I did a hypnotherapy program (tapes from a dr in the UK) after my worse year in 2011...it helped the chronic pain and no I only get 1 -5 bad morning a month instead of daily attacks...I had to stop dairy gluten eat and go vegan whole food plant based and as organic as possible to keep the FM pain under control though... I suspect Lyme disease was also a factor as I also got much better after homeopathy for Lyme in 2013 ( I couldn't drive because my legs cramped so bad it was like having knives in the thighs and then trying to walk, or flex...). By 2014 I was driving and biking daily with no pain again... Thank you for sharing the craziness that chronic illness can bring so many people just don't see our suffering be they are affair to ask or we get to good as pushing through Reiki Blessings
Pascale Desrosier-Hickey wow! Thank you for sharing! I am a practicing Clinical Hypnotherapist and I know how amazing our mind in is helping us feel well. I would love to hear more about your story! I will be uploading some videos on hypnosis and would love your feedback! ❤️ I personally had some really bad gut issues that were tied to being nervous and it would get embarrassing 😫 but that’s not the general case anymore! Much love!
I can understand you, bad digestion is a very serious issue, I also know my gut well now and it definitely helped me eliminate some types of food that I can't digest anymore
Hey Rebecca I hope you're still on here. I solved my constipation by drinking a small glass of water every 2 hours. Who knew it's that simple?! Give it a try. I hope it will work for you too. All the best!
I’m going through something similar ! After many different doctors visits I was Diagnosed with LPR by an ENT and given a Prilosec (this coming after two rounds of antibiotics for chest congestion and allergic rhinitis). I feel like it wasn’t helping one bit, so I made diet changes, and I’m now following a natural supplement regimen. However, I feel like my gut hasn’t been the same since the antibiotics. I’m going to see a chiropractor tomorrow in hopes that a readjustment will help get my bowels moving properly again. This journey has caused me to lose a lot of faith in doctors, but hopefully it will be back to normal life soon!
Meghan, I just love your videos. I, too, have had my share of gut issues and it is very hard to talk about. Thank you for talking about your gut health, putting light on how important it is to listen to your body, and showing how to keep going in your health journey!
Ahh thank you so much!! Yes, it's not easy to talk about, although I've learned more and more just how important it is to. I've most certainly learned I am not alone! Thank you so much for listening xoxo
As someone who has to eat Gluten Free (after years of horrible Gut and Intestinal issues) and now Dairy/Spice Free after a bad GERD flare up that landed me in the ER with lots of pain in my Esophagus Sphincter a few weeks ago, I am so happy to have found ur channel! Re-learning how to eat and get the nutrients I need has been difficult but I have learned so much in watching ur videos.
Would love to hear your experience with the naturopath. My husband struggled with stomach issues and he saw a naturopathic doctor and we realized he was misdiagnosed and he took anti microbials and he got his life back!
MY GOD you look soo healthy. Im going through some very painful abdo problems right now and tried soo many things even an colonic around 3 years ago. I fell really ill 9 years ago and was diagnosed with CFS but i never beleaved the doctors and told them so ,the amount of times i have been blue lighted [AMBULANCE] into hospital i lost count past 100 but found this amazing Chiropractor who has been helping me. I knew from research the GUT is soo important to not only our general health but also mental as the gut is known as the 2nd brain and tells the head brain what hormones and at what level to secrete so after finding out about C-DIFF im having some samples tested privately . Im soo happy for you SCOOBS UK.
Just got results back yesterday for C Diff after many months of severe symptoms and no answers...(which is how I found your channel) I'm scared this may develop into a chronic issue, but at least I know now why I've been so sick. ALL foods bother me right now, I am strictly on probiotic yogurt, crackers, and water :( your video comforted me a lot about my current infection and perhaps future diagnosis. Can't wait to watch more of your videos about gut health! Thanks Meghan ❤
Hi Abby. So sorry you've been dealing with C. diff. I know how hard it is! Especially all the food triggers. But I'm glad this video gave you some comfort knowing you're not alone. My digestion is so so so much better than it was years ago, even better than when I filmed this video! :-)
Thank you for sharing you are a beautiful person. I love your spirit. I teared up watching this. I was diagnosed with Gerd last year and I understand about wanting to go back to normal. Later on that year I was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule. I understand the emotions that go with no feeling good and wishing it would all go away. Thank you for being so transparent. 💗
Hi! TY for your video. I am in Canada in the hospital almost a week. I have had chronic bowl disorder, diverticulitis and now Colitis. Just found out I have C-Diff... dear god i am weak! I am 62.
Your commitment to gut health is so inspiring! Your hard work and dedication is amazing, so props to you. All your videos are so beautifully done, and I think you're so right about getting to know your body and what sorts of foods make it feel good and what things don't, especially because each person is different. Thank you so much for sharing and for making these videos!
Hello. I was diagnosed with C Diff one week ago. I'm having a really hard time eating and I'm down to 92 pounds (height is 4' 10''). I was on Flagyl for five days and have switched to vancomycin. I'm trying to gain some hope that this can get better. I feel completely debilitated. I'm looking for a gastroenterologist. Thanks for your video. It definitely helps.
wow, update please. Im dreading taking these antibiotics and also fearing my problems getting worse or hospitalization. I considered a naturopath but they are expensive
@@TheBiancalov I was able to clear the c Diff using herbals and probiotics. Got another test back and I have parasites including Giardia, cryptosporidium, and blasto. @@reesereissig1181 thanks for responding Reese, do you think the infections was from NOT taking the antibiotics, or just from the complications of cdiff..I'm not interested in taking this vancomycin at all..I have so much anxiety about it. Appreciate your time.

You did a good job of explaining c. diff....just going to add one point! With antibiotics yes they kill off the bad germs but they also kill off the good ones too. With c. diff, you were able to contract it more easily because you didn’t have the good bacteria to fight it off, that coupled with potential bad hygiene practices of the nurses (them not washing their hands before touching you, equipment not sterilized or properly, unsterilized hard surfaces, etc.). Very sorry to hear you went through that and thank you for being open to share it with us.
This quote came to mind after watching your video: “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle” I'm glad you're feeling better 😊💯 I've struggled with digestive issues my whole life and now I'm essentially eliminating dairy and gluten, using turmeric and probiotics to heal my gut, then hopefully gain some weight. Your videos really help, so thank you 💪💯
Will you share more about how you got into a certified holistic nutritionist, and how you determined this field over nutritional science, dietitian, etc. I want to get into this field, but not even 100% sure what all is out there. Additionally, could you share any great text books used during your studies?! I’d love a video on the health, nutrition, and wellness education options, your story, and how you picked your story!
Thanks for sharing this powerful story! I have also been low FODMAP, and it's been the thing that has SAVED me! I started it 2 years ago and practically eliminated foods containing FODMAPs for the first couple of months and now I can eat a lot more foods in limited quantities. Even now, I still have to watch the amounts of FODMAPs I consume and which foods I tolerate. I, too, am not "cured," but this is the most doable "diet"/ way of eating I've adopted :)
I'm the same way! It's all about finding your own balance with those foods. Some higher FODMAP foods I can do, but just little amounts. Overall though it's been so helpful :) Thanks for sharing!
Brilliant as always Meghan! You have so much courage. We could almost relive this with you. You did so well talking about such a personal journey and it’s commendable that you want to help others with similar problems. So interesting to hear your story. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your story! I have struggled with food phobia due to chemo-induced diabetes. I continue to look for the right nutrition plan for me and am thankful to have found your channel for the nutritional aspects. Thanks again for sharing-I know that’s not always easy!
Thank you for opening up, I appreciate. I to, am on a low fod map diet. And it’s nice to not feel so alone. Sometimes it’s not easy opening up and being honest about issues we go through. Some times when I tell my friends about it I feel like a hypercondriact. Telling them about foods i can eat or don’t eat
Thank you for “coming out” with your experience with C-diff. I have been sick with IBS and general gut issues forever. A couple months ago I had a diverticulitis episode and was given two antibiotics that resulted with a trip to the hospital and 7 day stay for C-diff. A reoccurring bout 4 days after completing the antibiotics for C-diff. Felt great for about 5 days while in antibiotics but now, 5 days out from completing that 2nd round of antibiotics and I’m not feeling at all well. I’ve been on a low fiber diet since mid Aug. A friend gave me a juicer. I’m wondering if you have any info about juicing fruits and veggies? For instance, if I can not consume any raw fruits or veggies, can I drink them by juicing with the skins. For instance I made a juice with green apples, cucumbers and lemons. I can’t find any info on this and don’t want to aggravate whatever is going on now. Thank you for opening up about this. It is personal and I also want to stay in denial and hope it goes away if I don’t talk about it! Right!?!? It’s life changing for sure. With appreciation. Fellow struggler.
Let me clear you on thing the only person can cured you from IBS is you (yourself) for treatment. Doctors will rip you off. I had IBS for 6 years but now i have 100% cured it. Guys don't pay anything to anyone else. I assure you that you can cure yourself easily without paying a single dollar to any one.. I can help you. Don't worry i don't charge. I know this is an older video but I just found it today and I appreciate it. I've been having constipation problems for years and the doctors tell me to lose weight or eat more fiber or walk more and I did all those things but nothing is really curing it. I'm so paranoid they are just dismissing me and meanwhile I have something deadly and horrible going on inside they won't find until it's too late. They all refuse to do tests too. I have developed health anxiety it is awful, it freezes you up in fear and I can barely function. I will be looking at yoru other videos too, thanks again.
good info, i have ben struggling as well with gut health and was put on a low fodmap diet last fall, very challenging and I know what I can and cannot eat now- a life change for sure.
Dear lovely Megan, thank you for being open to talk about your experience and even more- for sharing all relevant content on your channel. Keep following, happy holidays from Montenegro on Balkans!
Thank you so much for this video. I think it's important to hear other people's experiences so that we know we are not alone in our struggles. I had c diff in 2018 and it was a nightmare. It's been 10 months since I've had it but my gut health is not the same. I am more sensitive to food, I developed more acne than I have ever had, and my stool is never solid. I need to see a gastroenterologist soon to figure out why I am having these problems, but I suspect the cdiff is the problem since all these issues developed post c diff. I appreciate your story so much because it makes me think I can get down to the bottom of my gut issues too.
I just got over a time of diverticulitis and the antibiotics that tasted and felt like poison. I instantly googled everything trying to find out how to never go through that again. The medicine seemed so much worse than the pain. I read about Floragen probiotics so I immediately bought that and like you I was fearful of food. I have stopped added sugar except when cravings take over but considerably less. I ate tons of almonds thinking those were healthy but I’m very cautious of those now. Wow it is a journey and now my husband is getting on board with better eating because of a prostate problem. Love all the tips and food choices you show.
This is so helpful. I've had colorectal issues for the last 6 months, which require multiple surgeries. I don't have Crohn's thankfully, but since the first surgery in Feb, I've had irritable bowel symptoms. I was tested to make sure I didn't have C. diff (and I didn't) My doctors haven't confirmed that that I have an underlying gut issue, but it's useful to know that symptoms could be helped with this diet, as I've experienced very similar ups and downs. Some days I'm constipated, others I will be normal, other days I'll need to go 5 times in the day. I've had to take several times in the past few months different antibiotics, some very strong ones. Everything has changed since this surgery, and I still have some way to go with at least 2 more surgeries...Ahhh I enjoy some FODMAP foods so not sure how I'd go about it!
Hi Meghan, great video. Was like I was listening to my story, I am in the early stages of ibs as a result of a month long battle with C-Diff. The first 2 round of antibiotics didn’t work so I had to do a 3rd step down regimen, out of work for a month, because unfortunately I haven’t found a job that will pay me to sit on the toilet 😂 what an mess this is eh? Thanks for providing what’s working for you so I can look into those for myself :)
Great video! Do you think anxiety played a role in your intestinal distress? Not to minimize the role of bacteria and diet, but it seems like most of the people I know who struggle with IBS are high anxiety.
Hi there! Yes, absolutely. That's something I didn't touch on in this video but during the time of my major flare up I was under a lot of stress in my personal life, so I'm sure that played a big big role. I do have a history of anxiety as well, so there's certainly that connection!
Being 19 , and having all this happening to me has really taken a toll on me . It’s been almost 2 months . June 18th was the day . It felt like I got hit by a truck , it was awful , nausea and stomach pain , I was told I had the stomach flu when I first went , was given some stuff for nausea, then two weeks went by, then three weeks , then a month , and I just was not getting better , I was eating nothing , and just really only drinking fluids and I lost plenty of weight , my fear of food , and the symptoms had me so terrified , I then go to a different doctor and I’m told I have ibs , and they prescribe me all these medicines , etc . The issues still continued , but Something good happens and for a week or so I’m feeling really good , not really having any major issues , no real big flare ups , no nothing , I go to the gi just for another opinion, etc , and I’m told I have ibs , and that I need probiotics, and things of that nature . Well now nearing the 2 month mark I’m having issues again, and it’s so upsetting and really take a toll on me mentally and upsets me . I just wanna feel as close to normal , I’m fine with sacrificing food , etc , but it feels like no matter what I do it still bothers me
Thank you so much for sharing! I know is hard to talk about it. As you were recalling your journey I recalled mine. Please keep up all your hard work. It feels good to know I’m not alone.
I’m working with a nutritionist now to restore my gut health after taking some antibiotic’s last year for parasites. I also came back from a trip to Mexico this year with some stomach issues for about a week and it has not been the same since. Thank you so much for sharing your story I am hopeful for my future and for the healing of my gut!
Hi Michelle! Gut issues from travel are so common :( but I hope you feel better as time goes on -- there's always lots of things you can do to support your gut and I'm sure you'll find what works for you :)
Michelle Khawam I feel ya girl! I spent 1.5 years in TW and afterwards in TW was tested for parasites. It came up negative and I still felt like there was something wrong...I’m not sure if I got these in Taiwan or in the US but I had liver flukes! I actually found this out because I purchased a device that you wear under your clothing and it sends a low frequency current that is good for your body but parasites don’t like it :). So, as a result, the liver flukes came OUT! That’s how I found out what I had 😂. Very interesting story but better out of me than in me. Let me know if you want more info and I’ll send it your way, girl! Good luck in your healing journey 🍀.
If you have any type of anxiety, look into the polyvagal theory. A dominant sympathetic nervous system will give you IBS symptoms. By focusing on your parasympathetic system, you can relieve digestive problems, especially if you can only get so far through dietary restriction.
Thank you so much for sharing your story Meghan! I can see where your passion for gut health comes from! Although I have not had IBS, I have had my own gut issues and anxiety that has made me avoid food at times and I so enjoy your channel where you provide realistic and awesome insights and tips on how to eat healthy while promoting a love for food. Thank you, thank you, thank you! ❤️
Thank YOU so much for listening and for being here!! Gut issues are so common - I'm blown away by the amount of comments here of those who can relate. And anxiety, too, I know that all too well. Digestion and anxiety are so closely linked! Hugs xoxo
Thank you sooo much for sharing this video- I've been struggling with IBS for the past 5 years and I've experienced everything under the sun. Currently where you were about having a phobia and fear of eating/being told to go on an antidepressant and I'm trying to find foods and inspiration to combat a lot of these symptoms. I'd love to see a cookbook from you in the future and learn about your probiotic regime
You're so strong for making this video! I went through pretty much the same thing and I cannot explain how upsetting having post infectious ibs is. When you said the doctor told you this would be a life long condition and you started crying. I got teary eyed because the exact same scenario happened to me. After years of trial and error I finally have everything under control and my bloating is so much better. With that said, I came across your video because my mom was just diagnosed with c.diff last night and I'm terrified I'm going to get it. When you said it left you with post infectious ibs my heart sank because I have already experienced all of that and everything is good for me right now. Do you know how contagious c. diff is? From what I've been reading online it comes across as very contagious so I'm terrified now I haven't experienced any symptoms but if I do I'm going to go straight to the hospital.
I have recently come across L glutamine. You can find it in most health stores. Mixing this in water first thing everyday has helped my gut so much! Also the more I do yoga and stretch my psoas the more calm my gut is!!!! L glutamine, fiber, probiotics, Whole Foods, yoga, intermittently fasting, will go a long ways over time. Much love To everyone healing their gut, we got this ❤️😎
Hi ive just come across your channel. Thank you for sharing your personal story really appreciated watching it. Id love to hear more about the FODMAP regime that you did. Ive suffered with I B S for over half my life and in the past few years have developed Proctitis which is a form of I B D. Ive not had much success with anything that i do. For the most part i eat healthy i practice intermittent fasting and also food combining. Ive hit a wall recently and started eating crap again because i get so frustrated with how much im careful and practice this and follow that and dont see benefits and think what the hell im bloated doing all this i may as well eat some sweets etc. Any information or book or youtube recommendations would be great or even someone to go and see. Im in the North East of England. Ill continue to work my way through your videos. Hope you are having an IBS free day 😊
Your story hit me so hard because I too have IBS combined with C-Diff. I also now have a phobia of food because of all of this and desperately can't gain wait because of my work schedule. I've been reduced to eating once a day at night and my weight has suffered drastically because of it. You sharing this gives me hope that there are other people out there like me and I'm not alone. Thank you.
Thanks so much for sharing your story! You definitely are not alone! Gut health is huge and is the leading edge in the medical world right now. My son started taking JuicePlus and his digestive issues are healed! God bless you!
If you found this helpful, you may also want to know that at this time, the FDA has only approved Fecal Microbial Transplants (FMT) for c-difficile (c-diff) infection, which is a really severe, recurrent infection. Antibiotics are used to treat c-diff, but the infection has a really high chance of recurring, which results in having to take more antibiotics, and then the bacteria become resistant to the antiobiotic! C-diff can also result in malnourishment. But FMT can help!
I had c diff for 2 years and about 10 rounds of different antibiotics. My gastro doctor said it was so bad I needed a stool transplant so my boyfriends mom at the time ended up giving me her stool sample and they inject it into me during a colonoscopy. That was the worst time of my life and just yesterday I had a flare up so kinda sad but I use florastor probiotic which I highly recommend
Hi Meghan, thank you for sharing this. I am sure it must have been difficult for you to first go thru something like this physically and then talk about it openly. My husband is currently on a low FODMAP diet because of his liver and I am having trouble finding recipes where I don't have to substitute a bunch of things. It's been hard, cooking and planning meals takes so much longer now. But I have to say I am feeling better since we are eating the same things. Anyways could you share some of your go-to quick low fodmap recipes? Thanks!
It definitely takes some getting used to when you have to cook/eat so differently, but it gets easier for sure! I'd be happy to share some of my favourite quick low FODMAP recipes. I'm writing down a whole bunch of viewer request so I'll be sure to note that. xx
Thank you for your video! I am in absolute agony with my stomach issues. I have always had IBS symptoms and terrible reflux. A year ago I had Nissen Fundoplication surgery for my reflux and it helped immensely with that... however I have developed chronic diarrhea since the surgery. A month ago I was on some high IV antibiotics for an unrelated issue and 3 days ago I developed a fever, severe stomach pains and horrible diarrhea. I can’t eat anything and even drinking water makes my stomach hurt so much. They are currently testing me for C Diff so I will see what the results are .... but this is an agonizing feeling and I could totally relate to your struggles. I’ve been running to the bathroom 5 times a day for a year and the last 3 days have been easily 30 times a day.
Thank you so much for sharing this information with us. I am so glad it all turned out great for you in the end! Did the doctors tell you the stress also triggered your gut pains, or was it just the bacteria..? I often have gut issues, but luckily nothing serious happened so far...my doctor told me it will happen mostly to highly sensitive persons, as the gut is related to emotions and accumulating stress. Could you please do a video on your diet and tell us what helped you to overcome this issue? :) Thank you again, all the best... XXx Tasha
Hi there! Stress was definitely a factor that contributed to it. And your doctor is right -- IBS and anxiety/stress often go hand-in-hand as the gut-brain connection is so closely linked. I'll definitely share more of this in another video xoxo
Meghan, did you end up making videos on your experience with your natropath in regards to IBS? Also curious if you could elaborate on how you should not follow the Low-Fodmap diet long term. Thanks for sharing! Trying to figure out all of my triggers still, IBS is tricky!
Hi there! I haven't yet made that video (ahh!) but it's on my to-do list. I do have a blog post up on my website where you can read more about the low FODMAP diet! Just search "low fodmap" at meghanlivingstone.com. :)
Thank u I know it’s hard to share all the personal info! I can completely relate to EVERYTHING u said! However for me I find it difficult to continue to eat what I know is good for me and stay away from foods that are bad for me-it’s like I have an uncontrollable urge to eat poorly .... :(
What a journey. A reminder that food heals. @cultivatebeauty share a lot of things regarding gut health. They even offer a course that they teach. Thank you for sharing this story
Hey Megahn so sorry you had all that long term trouble :( Have you heard of The Mind Gut Connection and The Beauty of Dirty Skin? Very insightful research into why probiotics are so helpful and how to nurture our own good bacteria to help us heal. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Nicole! Are those books? If so I haven't heard of them, although I'm very familiar with the concept of the gut-brain connection. I'll look into them, thank you :)
Hi Megan. Yes they are books. The first is The Mind-Gut Connection: How the Hidden Conversation Within Our Bodies Impacts Our Mood, Our Choices, and Our Overall Health by Dr. Emeran Mayer and the second is The Beauty of Dirty Skin: The Surprising Science of Looking and Feeling Radiant from the Inside Out by Dr. Whitney Bowe. Dr. Bowe has a TH-cam channel actually and website if you want to check her research out a bit first before deciding on the book. Hope you like them!
hi!! i’m dealing with very similar symptoms right now and i completely understand how frustrating it it’s. for me it’s been about three months with pretty much no answer and i’m only eating bread and eggs. i’m hoping to get answers soon but my GI thinks it could be pi ibs
If you liked this video, you may also be interested to know that although the FDA has only approved Fecal Microbial Transplants (FMT) for c-difficile infection at this time, in the research setting, scientists are currently exploring how they may help with IBD (Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis), IBS, colon cancer, autism, and obesity! So stay tuned!
Meghan Livingstone PS. I heard abd read about the FODMAPS. I will try to incorporate low FODMAPS foods more. Thanks for inspiring me :)
Hi very good video .... So my story .. I almost died from Cdiff and shit blood for 3 years with chronic IBS and diarrhea . I went on a ONLY fruit diet for 3 months and it 100% cured me . Hope this helps . TH-cam dr Robert morse
Meghan Livingstone can you message me please?
I had c diff in November 2021 took Vancomycin and thank godddd I haven't had any issues since. I took L-Glutamine early on and ate probiotic foods, eliminated junk/processed foods from my life and I think that truly healed me. Now January 2022 I can eat all foods and have alcoholic beverages like I did before C diff but I am definitely more mindful of the foods I eat now and I eat more for nutrition and well-being than pleasure.
i'm so happy to read that. 3 months recovering from it and sometimes i think i'll never go back to where i was before
@@alinepereira7014since how long you have IBS?& May I ask which IBS you have?
Keep taking probiotics and kefir!Consider FMT
Hey Craig hope you are doing well, just curious are you doing better now?
Does it cure diarrhea
What about people with ibs c (constipation)
@@Da-ih4ze idk but I have found something that worked even better for me. Biome medic and switching organic
Does it cure diarrhea??
@@abcd-sf5ur idk, I have Ibs and here is what helped me have better bowel movements and less irritation:
1. Quit caffeine (this is huge) I drink “mud water” coffee alternative instead, it has tumeric
Which helps a lot to have tumeric on an empty stomach.
2. L glutamine helps a lot
3. Eating organic
4. No smoking or drinking alcohol
5. Quality high fiber drinks not ones with sugar
6. Intermittent fasting
I'll make a video in the future sharing more details on those sorts of things! Thank you so much for watching :)
Hi,how are you now?any better?I too diagnosed with pi IBS-D
Having had gut health issues on the other side of the spectrum for the past few years now, I so appreciate you sharing this video and I would love to see more healing recipes or food videos!
Hi Ashlynne! I'll definitely share some more healing recipes/food related videos in the future! Thank you for listening to my story -- IBS is no fun. xx
I would love to see or a book by you about your life with recipes for good gut health. I have just been diagnosed. XOXO
I'm going through the aftermath right now and I'm at the end of my rope
It will get better, trust it. From March last year until December I took probiotics daily and it helped, started to cut'em down little by little, I still got some problema from time to time especially when taking antibiotics, but I didn't followed a strict diet and my life is pretty much as before excepting the ocassional pills. At some point it's just in your head, try to let go and accept it, be prepared for unexpected situations but don't ruin your life trying to calculate every aspect of this condition, it's not worth it. Good luck!
How did you manage?
I can feel you. Going thru the same. low fod map helped me alot. Pls do more videos abt this. Even i have food phobia after all this..
I'll definitely share more info on low FODMAP, etc., in a future video :) Thank you for watching!
Yes. Food phobia is real.
Thank you so much for watching! I'll share more info on that in a future video :) xoxo
It's a journey but it's so worth it -- we're in this together! xoxo
You are so young, I am 73 and have had c diff since June, 2022. I am on a probiotic and slowly working my way to healthy eating. Thanks
:) xoxoxo
So glad I found your channel and this video. I’m currently dealing with the same thing … going to watch more of your videos
Thank you for sharing your story! It probably wasn't easy but it's truly appreciated ❤️
Thank you Jacqueline for all your love and support!! I appreciate it so much!
Thank you for sharing your story; very brave of you. Thank you for also not using any background music x
Thank you so much. I have IBS and have been struggling to control it.
I'm so sorry to hear of all of your struggles - chronic illness is so hard but I'm glad you've made improvements! Yay! Thank you for listening :) xoxo
Pascale Desrosier-Hickey wow! Thank you for sharing! I am a practicing Clinical Hypnotherapist and I know how amazing our mind in is helping us feel well. I would love to hear more about your story! I will be uploading some videos on hypnosis and would love your feedback! ❤️
I personally had some really bad gut issues that were tied to being nervous and it would get embarrassing 😫 but that’s not the general case anymore!
Much love!
I can understand you, bad digestion is a very serious issue, I also know my gut well now and it definitely helped me eliminate some types of food that I can't digest anymore
3yrs later.. any update?
Yes. Rebounding for lymphatic drainage is the best too for overall health.
This video was really interesting! Can you do one on managing constipation?? Thanks
Try colloidal silver it really helped me. Sorry to hear so many people are having the same problems. Something else is going on here.
@@ScoutFPV Yes, it is. I couldn't agree more.
Yay! Oh that's wonderful to hear. I'll share more of my experience with that in a future video :)
What was he diagnosed with?
What did he take please? Glad hes better?
How are you now ? Anything that helped ?
Please make a video talking about your experience with the naturopath! I am currently fighting a c Diff infection under the care of a naturopath now.
wow, update please.
So working on those infections next using pharmaceuticals. I highly recommend the book “C. Difficile Treatments & Remedies” by Michelle Moore
@@reesereissig1181 thanks for responding Reese, do you think the infections was from NOT taking the antibiotics, or just from the complications of cdiff..I'm not interested in taking this vancomycin at all..I have so much anxiety about it. Appreciate your time.
@@TheBiancalov I can’t say what the infection was from. Highly recommend working with a functional medicine doc to get everything sorted out! Best of luck to you

Yes absolutely, antibiotics kill evvvverything. Forgot to mention that! Thank you :)
This quote came to mind after watching your video:
“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle”
I'm glad you're feeling better 😊💯
I've struggled with digestive issues my whole life and now I'm essentially eliminating dairy and gluten, using turmeric and probiotics to heal my gut, then hopefully gain some weight.
Thank you.
Hi Jane! Thank you for watching and for listening!! :) I appreciate it so much. xx
Thank you for sharing your story! I have struggled with food phobia due to chemo-induced diabetes. I continue to look for the right nutrition plan for me and am thankful to have found your channel for the nutritional aspects. Thanks again for sharing-I know that’s not always easy!
Thank you so much for listening Sarah! Food phobia is not fun at all. I wish you the best on your health and nutrition journey xoxoxo
I am so glad you shared this!!! I had c diff last year and my gut has not been the same. And I’m terrified to go to the gastro Doctor.
Ahh C. diff -- I'm sorry to hear that. :( You should definitely go get a check up if you're a little worried! I know that feeling though. xoxo
Thank you for sharding. I had gut problems myself and its nice to know I am not alone. I love your video's.
I know that feeling! But we're not alone. xx

I will be looking at yoru other videos too, thanks again.
hey why didn’t you get tests yet? i have chronic constipation from a year too , now after few rounds of blood test i have fatty liver
good info, i have ben struggling as well with gut health and was put on a low fodmap diet last fall, very challenging and I know what I can and cannot eat now- a life change for sure.
It really is life changing when you're able to pinpoint what is good for you and what isn't! xx
How are you doing today? I also had Cdiff in 2018 and it was horrible as well. Hope you ate better 🙏
Awe Meghan, I am so sorry you have had to how through this. So glad you are doing better now. 💛
Thank you Jennifer! It's been quite the journey, and still is, but I'm glad things aren't as bad as they used to be. Thank you for listening :) xoxo
Thanks for sharing, if you could make a part 2 please!
I will be for sure! :)
Thanks so much for this video - this has been my year for similar gut issues
I know that struggle of such a wide spectrum of symptoms and not knowing what to expect when you wake up. One step at a time! Big hugs Natalie xoxoxo
Thank you for sharing so much it is helpful and uplifting to see what you have done to improve with these awful life changing symptoms. Stay healthy🌸
I just wanna feel as close to normal , I’m fine with sacrificing food , etc , but it feels like no matter what I do it still bothers me
Did you ever get better?? I hope so! I’ve had the same issues about 2.5 months

Look into two peptides, one called LL-37 and Bpc 157. Also look into fmt's
If you have any type of anxiety, look into the polyvagal theory. A dominant sympathetic nervous system will give you IBS symptoms. By focusing on your parasympathetic system, you can relieve digestive problems, especially if you can only get so far through dietary restriction.

Hi Lisa, thanks so much for listening to my story! Gut health really is a big deal. Glad to hear your son is doing really well!
What an incredibly helpful video - thanks for sharing!
This sounds so awful for you. How are you doing now and what is it?
Thanks for sharing your story peace and love from Paris France
Dealing with CDiff is so frustrating. Sacc boulardi 3x a day is helping me.
Great video. I also love Low Fodmap and follow it. You should make a, "what I eat" Low fodmap edition.
:)
Great idea, thanks for the suggestion!
Absolutely - food is medicine. I'll check them out! Thank you :)
