The part about targeted ads is painful. I'm a backend developer and the idea that all of these software giants are illegally circumventing super hard wired safety mechanisms in android/iOS to essentially perform sidechannel attacks on people (accessing microphone, info from other apps etc) is such a meme. Sure, it's not completely impossible but it's a very improbable risk to take when they can already infer so much about you from the data points you already consent to giving out. When people go "I said the word car to my friend and then I got a car ad, the apps are listening!" it makes me cringe. You just don't know how suggestion works, or coincidence, or that you wanting a car might be possible to deduce with a machine learning model trained on other seemingly unrelated data points.
Fair enough, so if you were to explain to a complete layman how it “works” how would you? I ask genuinely because there’s no doubt in my mind that I’m aggressively recommended ads on the internet but it doesn’t sound like you are denying that but rather the perception people have about ads being recommended to them? If I’m reading correctly you’re saying it’s more about the gathering of your online date as they can infer from all of that what you’re most likely to click on or buy?
It would be hyper wide spread info if Twitter was doing shit like that, why? Well I'm sure there's some hyper nerd out there with GrapheneOS [Or Pine's mobile 'libreOS' I forget it's name.] on a fully libre-booted phone that could and does look too see what calls to the phone's systems a program is making. They couldn't see Twitter's source code, no, but you could see if/when it was accessing things and through context know why. They don't need to do insane shit like that, people give their data up willingly anyway. So even IF one of the big apps was doing that, it WOULD be found out one day and the data security world would fuckin explode. [I'm a network security guy, red team, so I'm not too far from you field wise.]
@@meme6335 When you consent to the terms of service using google, facebook, twitter or instagram etc, those terms of service include them collecting information about you based on things that the app itself collects. Facebook knows your location (unless you explicitly turn it off), what things you tend to click on, what you write in comments and messages and probably even voice messages you send USING THEIR APP. This is well established. With this, they can cross reference your whereabouts to locations of stores transportation etc and learn a whole lot about your everyday life. They also know things you input which are likely to be true, like your age, sexual orientation, gender etc. Of course they're gonna use this info to serve ads; that's what they get paid for. The much less substantiated claim is that facebook et al. can collect information that the app is not privy to. Like your e-mail, or the microphone when the app is dormant, or your camera when you're not using the facebook camera widget. When programming an application for Android or iOS, a lot of things are off limits, unless you explicitly ask the user for their consent (hence the "give instagram permission to use rhe camera" prompts when you first start using the app). And if they don't consent, the app simply won't have access to those variables and thus not work. You also have to explicitly say what you're asking for in those prompts, or else the app won't pass review on google play/apple store. You ARE being farmed for hyper selected ads, but none of it is through shady means. It's all info you yourself divulge when using the app. The algorithms often aren't even particularly sophisticated. I invite you to go into a messenger chat with one of your friends and type "dishwasher" 10 times and then open fb market place and voila - bunch of dishwashers. The part that's borderline shady is when the companies sell data to eachother, which can give rise to the seemingly "spying" behavior. That and the fact that people don't understand the power of statistical models and their ability to predict your consumption behaviors based on the giant digital papertrail you willingly feed them.
@@123sleepygamer what you said will fly over non-tech people's heads but you're absolutely correct. There are Twitter accounts that tell you when famous people's birthdays are or what day it is or different pictures of a single leaf, so useless information doesn't mean anything really . Also, is someone posting a comedians show locations a dox? All flights are public info, so someone posting them couldn't be a dox because it needs to be private information. If someone wanted to stalk/hurt Elon, that Twitter account didn't give them anything that they couldn't have found out with a Google search.
Idk how Destiny can lack so much knowledge on stocks but say things with so much confidence. At the end here destiny argues flight information is publicly available to be tracked.... not on private flights however. Searching on Google for flight radar will not allow you to see private flights. There's an argument to be had around if posting a public figure's real-time location is doxing but also sneako is right to consider that given elon's heightened controversy since taking over Twitter, his safety in particular was and is at higher risk than say, geotagging the Weeknd at a concert or posting a selfie with Joe Rogan at a restaurant or something. This whole argument on destiny's part is "elon is a cry baby and an idiot", then showing elon having some PR hiccups on spaces... as if destiny isn't a dismissive prick most of the time as well. Why are there no concrete arguments as to how elon is ruining Twitter? At the very least under elon, transparency has increased. Calling him a crybaby doesn't change that. I'm not all in on elon yet either but these arguments against him are lazy and frankly just trash; they don't touch on any meaningful points surrounding the discourse. You're arguing to be right, not debating to unearth facts.
it feels like destiny is shooting a lot of shallow points and expect no push back. Which he didnt really get. Though he had to google something just to make sure that he didnt get it wrong when sneaky pushed a little. @@lotanowo he is clearly biased and talking out of his ass. He doesn't like Elon musk, so he says Elon musk's company is failing. And he did the opposite for Zuckerberg, claiming FB was in a very healthy position when there was no real sign it was.
Destiny is the definition of bad faith argumentation. "Better" is subjective so claiming "I'm just presenting facts" is itself disingenuous in this context. Twitter could make changes that negatively affect its bottom line, all while becoming superior overall to its previous incarnation. For example, Apple could say "we're no longer letting Chinese factories overwork our employees" and everybody would agree that's a step towards improving the company, even though that principled move would increase expenses in the short term. Also, nobody (including Elon) thought Twitter was worth $45 billion dollars. He bought it b/c he feared free speech was nearing extinction, not b/c he deemed it profitable. Collectively steering us back towards free thinking might end up being his most important contribution to the species. Acting like he's running Twitter into the ground for doing so, b/c woke-anxiety-laden advertisers flee, doesn't just miss the boat, it misses the ocean.

Where on Flightradar can I search for flights by names on their passenger list, or even _get_ a passenger listing of an existing flight? Like addresses, tail numbers and flight numbers _are indeed_ public information. The _private_ aspect is the *mapping* between a person and an address/tail number/flight number. Steven can look up Melina's flight because he knows her flight number, not because he knows her name, since the connection between her and that flight is privately known. When it comes to a private jet that Elon owns, the tail number is going to be a constant and the ~19 max passenger count often would include him, but not always, and sometimes it contains his son. Knowing a private jet's tail number is more revealing than a home address since it includes temporal information along with its location. Knowing a home address doesnt guarantee information on when/if someone is coming/going, that would require more-shady, yet legally still public, data involving the monitoring of the property. TOS "rights" often fit somewhere between the moral and the legal. Doxxing, even in California with their law that addresses it (with little to no backing in case law), is generally de facto legal, but many would argue immoral. There are also different definitions and extents to it. The decision here isn't an obvious one.

The YTD performance is irrelevant in this context because Sneako brought up Meta saying that its stock was falling because people were moving from it to Twitter thanks to Elon's leadership decisions. Elon did not take over Twitter at the beginning of the year, so obviously that couldn't have anything to do with Meta's stock fall. Another example was during Sneako's hypothetical, Destiny explained that Elon's erratic behaviour was a negative financially and used the Tesla stock as evidence. Or the stack rewrite argument which he based on the Twitter/discussion clip he showed. Now even if you disagree, his arguments have a premise/conclusion and some sort of evidence.

Destiny examples of why twitter is failing are all trash. Hes got no clue.
Does Destiny even know that twitter wasn't making much ad revenue in the first place?
Destiny is likely just bitter he's banned. He tried saying meta is doing well, that's divorced from reality or he's an investor and lying
Was that a vine boom 16:00 lmao?
I always worry when I see titles like "Sneako gets into a huge fight with Destiny". I'm glad he always comes back
I love it when he plays Factorio, can just shut the phone screen off and do something else.
Destiny's feelings on what Elon says and does is not a fact. I haven't heard Destiny cry this much in a long time.
AGED WELL
Haha love destiny and sneako chatting 😂
it feels like destiny is shooting a lot of shallow points and expect no push back. Which he didnt really get. Though he had to google something just to make sure that he didnt get it wrong when sneaky pushed a little.
I dont find it strange that its causing some waves after a new leader wants a new direction for Twitter. Just as destiny faces pushback when he doesnt do politics. Time will tell how well Elon is doing.
Destiny is really dumb. He was citing the one week or one month chart to claim meta is doing well.
He is really dumb or dishonest
You're saying that Destiny wanted to make sure he doesn't pull shit out of his ass or call Sneako a mad lefty when he gets pushback?
@@lotanowo destiny is retarded and pulled everything out of his ass.
If you follow stocks, you will know this
@@robbyrobot3303 I don’t follow stocks, can you elaborate?
@@lotanowo he is clearly biased and talking out of his ass. He doesn't like Elon musk, so he says Elon musk's company is failing. It was public knowledge at that point a tax credit of $7.5k would be given to EV car purchases in 2023. Tesla stock recovered a lot as a result.
Private planes location data is also private, it's not publicly available information. It requires insider information (the kid running those accounts is a airline executive's kid). It's *NOT* public information.
I am surprised Sneako didn't defend Elon during that clip, considering that is exactly how Sneako argues every topic he engages with...
Elon was right tho
The callers were seething butter spergs like destiny. The right call is not to engage with people like that
@@robbyrobot3303 Elon was right to drop the call because someone was criticizing him for not knowing what he was talking about?
I have to disagree with you...
@@marco12377 no, because was an asshole who came in very aggressively. Do you people really think you can act like destiny in real life??
@@robbyrobot3303 Elon Musk pushing lies, conspiracies and then pretending like he knows more than the actual engineers who work at twitter is not "being an asshole"?
Again, I have to disagree with you. Elon Musk is the one who started the fire, calling people who criticize him for burning things to the ground as the "assholes" is beyond delusional.
Why do we seem to be more increasingly living in a world where the people who call out others for doing objectively bad things end up being the ones who seem more vilified than the people who are actually committing the act in the first place?
If I point out that someone is robbing a bank, am I more to blame than the guy who is actually committing the robbery, just for pointing out the truth or fact of the matter?
People have a right to be angry with Elon Musk, people have a right to be angry with those who purposefully screw things up. Elon Musk most likely needs therapy, all this money, fame and power has gone to his head...
@@marco12377 I don't think anything musk did was objectively bad. He has to gut the company, it's completely corrupt and I'm bed with the government. I don't think the previous Twitter employees were good actors
The fact that redditors are collectively seething everyday about Elon Musk is proof he’s doing a good job with twitter.
Destiny was on full copium
Sneako saying "ABC news are probably just saying twitter's stock is down to make people think that" has big "I'm not owned! I'm not owned! I scream as I turn slowly into a corn cob" energy
This is the christmas spirit everyone keep talking about
If sneako wanted to make a defendable point, he would say that user engagement and active users on twitter have increased since Musk took over
Does Sneako not see that him always saying "that is just a leftist talking point" all the time makes him the bot lol.
We all know destiny is just mad because Elon musk won’t unban him.
@@lovebomb7405 yeah I love destiny but he’s not taking this conversation that seriously. I don’t think he has even commented once on any of the collusion between twitter and the fbi.
@@triggeredindividual9607 Actually, he did address it. It was a nothing burger.
@@frankjiang1857 I like how you just did the same thing and didn’t address it. Just called it a nothing burger like a bot reading a script
@@triggeredindividual9607 Pot, you're calling the kettle black. You haven't addressed it at all either. For me, his explanation addressed it fine. But I guess we have to wait until August can upload it so that we can have cogent analysis on it, instead of making random claims and not backing it up.
22:30 what was that countdown Sneako. "Threeeeeee..... Two, ok play"
Hmm…anyone else find it funny it’s Destiny getting emotional.
Yeah that destiny chick is always going about something smh
yeah he started gaslighting sneako, he got really emotional then claimed sneako was getting emotional?
Yeaa ever since that blue hair bruh lol
I’d get pissed off as well if I was talking to a rtard lol.
I just find it funny you and at least one other person have no come back to anything Destiny is saying other than hes being emotional.
destiny saying meta stock is up 6% in a month doesnt mean anything when its a pullback from falling literally 25% in a single day
reminiscing about sneakos older and more thought provoking content just to look back to this dude and remember they're the same person legitimately gives me mental whiplash. I'm at the point where I genuinely just think he purposely stops using his brain when streaming/in front of an audience for the sake of content. It's the only way I can make sense of this.
Is it really that unbelievable someone would come across as smarter in prepared content than live streams?
@@noahthenormal do you seriously think that's what's happening here??
@@novinnovations4026 I think that's a big part of it

@@thatenbykid You ever had a coworker that seemed pretty competent on the job, but when you get to know them outside of work you realize they don't know much of anything besides what they do for a living? I've been shocked by the difference a few times
14:09 Destiny starts to get ULTRA triggered. you're welcome
Sneako is a bot but it is hilarious hearing Destiny talk his portfolio by saying Meta is up a few points this month whilst ignoring the YTD performance 💀
But the fact that Meta's stock was rising this month could instead suggest that people are leaving Elon-Twitter for Meta (but realistically it's just because Zuckerberg is finally starting to realise his the focus on VR was misguided).
@@LoudWaffle Timestamp where he said people were leaving Meta for Twitter? I thought they were just discussing tech stock performances in general. Also, regrding the Meta pump...no stock goes down in a straight line, what you are observing is called a deadcat bounce in trading terms.
@@bobbyg309 12:15 if you're being genuine, but if you're asking for the timestamp to pull a "well he didn't literally make that claim, he was just mentioning Meta stock falling for no reason!" then you're a bad faith idiot. Sneako says he believes that Twitter will succeed because Elon is making it a bastion of free speech (timestamp: the entire video, and right before the prior timestamp he reiterates that he likes Elon so he thinks Twitter will "take over"), so the context of mentioning Meta stock is unambiguously to say that Twitter's social media competitors are losing stock which is a good thing for Twitter.
