As a dad, I totally agreed with you that the 911 is a "dad's car". I also checked my "dad's bank account" and it said I got bills for the kids swimming lessons, karate classes, soccer, dentist, daycare, and they also eat a lot. Having said all of this, I was able to convinced my wife that we should buy a 991 Turbo S, my reasoning was that, as the kids get older, it doesn't get cheaper, it gets way more expensive (my oldest is 30, my other 2 is 7 and 10). If we do it now, we still can afford the payments, but 10 years from now, it will be a different story financial with teenagers. We test drove a 991.1 and 991.2 Turbo S last week, kids fit in the back comfortably, and they were more excited in the back then being in our Honda Odyssey.
Can you do a 991 Turbo S? Trying to persuade our pal with a baby and toddler to swap his M6 for one

@@dadcars a 997.1 C2S (was nearly a Vantage S) although the daily is a Volvo C30 T5 but that'll likely make way for something more 'practical' 👀

Thank you so much for doing this detailed review so many others just say there is isofix and move on or show you ridiculous clips of them trying to fit adults in the back which isn’t really what the seats are for. This video is really useful!

The 991 Carerra T with rear seats could be the perfect dad car bringing all the best bits of the 991 with a bit of CSR driving feel. If only they weren’t so expensive.
Purchase price is a huge factor in the equation of which 911 best suits you and the prices are always moving slightly 🙈
I’m between M5 competition and Carrera 4S. Absolutely I love the porsche look but I have 2 kids (2 and 6 years) so don’t know if 911 is the right choice

What an amazing video. My wife recently gave birth to our first child but I still don’t want to give us my dream of owning a 911. Totally agree 991 the best looking one. Don’t like the 992 is too fat and back lights not so good. This car sounds great.

So what`s your conclusion here? Is there more space for children (or more space in general) in the back of the 991 than in the 997?
I am thinking about both. My favourite would be the 997, but the space on the rear seats probably is even more important :-).
There is slightly more space in the 991 for sure… I’ve yet to find a ideal fitting seat though but will find one 👌
Subscribed, mainly because of the testing of whether child seats can fit. A GTR R35 review and whether child seat can fit in the back as a dad car would be appreciated. As would the new M2 (when its released).
Very much hope to get a GTR on eventually! Just need a kind owner to reach out :)

Im about to have 3 girls myself and ive been thinking about what i could get that would allow three car seats i the back and still be sporty, but then i remembered porsche 911 having front car seat options, and now im here lol. Great video.

Haha I think your passenger thinks your particular 911 is the most boring of them all! I have a 992 S and came from a 718 GT4 because I wanted my kids to ride with me as well. Although the 718 is noticeably more fun, 911 is a great all arounder.
So that dads and kids can rest or have fun a bit longer

Ah SHIUKA! For dad's watching this video, you're supposed to have 2 inches between the car seat and the seat in front of it, so no rear facing. You also don't want your knees that close to the dash or you'll crush your knees in an accident.
Good timing on this comment as I’m actually working on a video about this exact topic as I too have heard various “recommendations” with space between child seats and the front seats. In fact I’ve read it’s recommended to be 25cm which will be hard to achieve even in a large SUV. What country are you based in out of interest and what car do you drive with rear facing seats in the back?
@@dadcars USA and this is why I have a minivan! Honda odyssey. Now that I think about it though with those load-bearing legs that you guys have in Europe (we don't have them), it may not move like it would without them.
I also want to come back and say kudos for doing this with three kiddos in the car, that is so cool and Dad awesome!

Cool video. I ended up going for an FL5 Type R to accommodate the family. Not as sexy but just as fun. Still got my eye on a 991 at some point.
How does it fair as a family mobile?
@@Chris-nj1mr sold it 🤣 with a young family I don’t have much/any time for ‘fun’ driving so a manual just became a bit of a pain, but ultimately, I found the build quality and reliability rubbish. Now driving an RS4.

After a lifetime in performance cars I now have a baby on the way and I'm looking into all options. Will sadly have to sell my Cayman for something more practical. I'm leaning the same way as your thought process! Thinking m340i (maybe touring), C43, RS4 will probably hit the mark
@@Chris-nj1mr first world problems for us 🤣 having owned a C63 and 340i estates, there is no right answer, every car has its merits and drawbacks. The m340i is arguably the best all rounder but has the least personality.
The rear facing Maxi-Cosi car seat wouldn't fit behind the driver's seat in either an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrofoglio (with bucket seats) or a vanilla Golf 5 GT Sport. These are two mainstream hatchbacks. The matter of the fact is that the rear facing seat has to be behind the passenger's seat so that a) you can move the seat forward as needed b) you can turn around and reach out to the baby if you need to.

@@DiscoticUK it’s not massively spacious in the back seat and probably a tight fit for 3 child seats of any type. RS5 sportback or RS4 probably better family options but much less fun in my opinion.

Is the child in front too close to the airbag? This is what I was constantly worried in my Audi S4, but then I removed the headrest and I was able to move the front seat back even more.
They would be for sure in a conventional child seat, the ones I use are folding travel ones that have very slim backs. I talk about this very point in my Ferrari F12 review 🫡

Started shopping around for a new Dad toy. Currently have an RX7 with no back seats. My daughters are showing more interest in going in the “racecar” with me. I think I’ve narrowed my options down to a 911 so this helps. Thank you
