  • An oil change completed at least as frequent as recommended might be the best way to avoid premature catastrophic failures. If your drive harder off-highway, you should consider even shorter intervals to account for particulates and aggressive driving.
    For the small effort required and for under $80 for premium materials you will keep your motor happy and in turn fewer unwanted delays for your adventures.
    Jeep Wrangler 3.6L e-torque (applies to JL / JLU / JT with the same motors)

    - Jeep Wrangler Pentastar 3.6L Engine Oil capacity is 5.0 quarts (4.73 liters.)
    - It requires a SAE 0W-20 full synthetic MS-6395 compliant oil.
    Cited source: 2022 Jeep Wrangler Owners manual page 423
    Some people make the mistake of looking up the capacity of other Dodge and Ram 3.6L motors:
    - 5.9 quarts is likely from a NON-Wrangler for the current model year generation of 2018-2024.
    - 6.0 quarts is likely from the PREVIOUS generation 2012-2018 Jeep Wrangler (JK) 3.6L
    Also, something NOT to confuse is the viscosity for the current generation Jeep Wrangler 2.0L turbo gasoline application which uses a 5W-30 oil but has the same capacity of 5 quarts.

      Not Mobil 1 0w20 doesn't meet the Chrysler MS6395 spec that is only your preference to use that oil .

    So that leftover bit of oil that’s what I’m supposed to have left over

      It just depends on how much you are able to drain. How flat the ground is when you drain and the temperature will determine how much actually comes out. This amount is what I typically have left but that's based on what puts the oil level to 3/4 the hashed area on the dipstick on level ground after about 30 mins.
      You should be bathing what's left on your measurement at the dipstick.

    Why is it that big tractor trailer trucks can run millions of miles? Is it because of the high way driving vs stop and go city traffic or is it simply due to the maintenance routine?

    • @exhaustinglife
      @exhaustinglife  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Well as a general statement with lots of exceptions, generally speaking a Big Rig's powertrain is built for its heavy duty cycle regardless of stop and go and highway. Comparing all aspects of the mechanical parts to a conventional consumer car or even a light commercial truck is just not apples to apples. Some of the model Heavy Duty Semi truck engines are well over 1000 lbs yet still share similar displacements to light and medium duty trucks.
      Also, your points on maintenance are valid as well and even reinforced by federal and state regulations. DOT has strict requirements and timelines that if not met can restrict a trucks use so maintenance is just a priority, contributing to keeping them running longer.

    When running full synthentic oil in the 3.6, whats the right interval, 8000kms?

    • @exhaustinglife
      @exhaustinglife  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The manual suggests not to exceed 10k miles (16k km.) I change between 5-6k miles (8-9k km) because I carry a constant load and do a lot of dirt driving.

      Life’s too short to NOT buy a Jeep. I just converted mine from an SUV to a pickup and then to a 2 seater no top pickup in less than two hours combined… also mine is 20 years old and still drives perfectly.
