I’ve absolutely no problem with digger content. I’m well chuffed with this episode. Y’all nearly jumped out of your skin when you first touched the starter wire. I’m not sure about the new style programming. Things working out fairly easily and all. It’s supposed to be more of a fight. 😂
Good work getting the old Cat running, it may struggle for lack of horses if operating multiple banks at the same time. You're fast becoming the English WD, you have the excavator, just need to set light to a Ferrari in one of your dad's fields now. Could call yourself "Misfiring/Sputtering Petrol" in keeping with a lot of the old military engines you have... It'll be great to see Jack back with his humour and the banter between you two.
I don't know about this particular model, but I know many old Cat engines were essentially identical between the NA and turbo versions. Pretty much the only differences on many is the injection pump, manifold, and turbo itself. Might be feasible to swap those parts over if they aren't too far gone. Regardless it'll be a fine machine as-is. Just gotta take things a bit slower.

I've worked around older 10 to 15t tracked machines, mostly dads for a while, dad's 80 and Im nearly 60 and one thing I would suggest is adding about 10% Lucas hydraulic oil improver. I find it improves the track drives no end. I've no interest inn the company at all I just like this particular product. Theres nothing quite like the agressive beat of this generation of diesel engines and that sounds like a corker.
You're working on your hydraulic system when you hear screaming - do you A - check on the welfare of the damsel in distress or B - run to see which line has let go. The answer of course is B!

I laughed like hells bells ringing when the Cat motor sprang to life. Obviously, you couldn’t believe it either, hence the second start attempt to confirm you weren’t dreaming!!! 😃 The birthday gods were smiling on you Joe, but only until you needed new hoses! I’ll never understand the price gouging mentality. When new customers came my way, I did whatever I could to keep em coming back. I guess greed never takes a day off. Anyhow, I spent my Sunday morning in my easy chair with a cup of coffee enjoying your program. Bravo sir, another job well done!!! Btw, hopefully I speak for all in wishing Jack a speedy recovery and I can’t wait for him to get back into the mix. Slow & easy is the best way to heal up & live life. 😃👍🏻👍🏻

The sound level difference between far and close up shots is too high at times, i.e. where I turn the volume up for far away shots to hear what is being said (headphones in) and it cuts to a close up shot it almost blasts the snot out my nose!😅 Nonetheless keep up the great stuff!!
That was pretty cool, amazed that everything worked so well. If you're too tight to put fresh diesel in it, filter old hydraulic oil, & thin it down with some old brake fluid.

The in-built obsolescence of modern manufactured goods is sold as "environmentally friendly ' ... It seems more about capitalism. Well done indeed Mr Hewes & Co. 😊

1/Beware Hydraulic Oil catches fire really easily. 2/ H Oil from a split pipe could have huge psi and a thin jet can pass through your body, and then its probably lights out. Apart from that warning great vid as always.👍👍

Why , didn't you power wash the whole machine under carriage included , before you ever stated working on repairing it's problems ! Didn't working on it with a thick coat of mud bother you at all ?
heya joe. as someone who used to get debilitating hey fever. may i sagest doing an immunology course. basically they find out what you are allergic to and once a month they pump you full of it do over time your body learns to cope with it. its done me wonders for it. i no longer sneeze my guts out and my face doesn't puff up like im sure those pipes want to before they blow.

You might be able to whack the old turbo on it if you fit that old compression lowering plate under the head.
