- Today Ted, (workshop manager) oversees the operation of fitting steel tracks to the hull of the FV4005. And with his calculated and precise lifting plans he decided to make the team work harder, grabs the Foden and places the turret back onto the hull.

if you watched this and didn't like SHAME!!!!
Good video
i never like, but sure
I liked on both accounts. This is amazing
Props to my WoT crew repairing a broken track in 4 Seconds from inside the tank
Props to my WoT crew for staying calm while I'm doing a fucking flip
Do you think we will have it done in time for Tankfest?
I'd say you have a strong chance as long as there are no problems
..just as I was typing...lol
Question: How would you go about restoring the fighting compartment and fitting the fuel tank when the turret is on? Would it not be easier to do that before fitting the turret?
Shedfest was this weekend ;)
@@arpmuless_official He's just test fitting the turret. Probably.
Having a fiat500 next to the tank really helps to imagine how big of a lad that tank is.
1:31 never realized that tank tracks would make such a nice adjustable fence 😂
I know one frg member who wrote off his car hitting a piece of curled up track.
for toddler yes
Without the boom pole you still have the ultimate off road camper!
The big pole is useful for drying the washing, or rigging up a tarp.
Or flying your camp colors, or food procurement.

I wish we'd had a forklift when we were fitting new track - it normally came in either 4 or 6 links in a pallet and we had manually lift and connect all the links together and then break down the old track to go back into the pallet for disposal - character building they used to say :)
Supposedly a crew task, but we always made it a Troop-task, just to get it done in a reasonable span of time.
Smart guys always bribed the Eager Beaver guy to turn up. We had a JCB 3c with forks, no bucket. too easy.
I hated track bashing...
Do you foresee any other future restorations of vehicles from Bovington? You must be all very proud, quite rightly so for such a fabulous restoration. It’s a legacy that will outlive you all. Whenever it appears in photographs or films, you can proudly say “we did that” 👍🏻
We would love to continue working with them
The tank destroyer Churchill 👍🏻
What a pleasure watching you genius guys fixing tanks!!
The FV4004 Conway and FV4202 would probably be quite straightforward. Maybe even Tortoise too
Can they be persuaded to drop off something like a Jag-panzer for restoration next?
You should be very proud lads... truly a fantastic job...history being restored before my eyes....what TH-cam was invented for .. educational...and fun.
This is awsome never expected to see the FV4005 working again ever from its old previous condition
It does have a different hull than the one that was on display.
(The turret is the same)
@@WinterroSPthe hull it was on in the museum was a mk10 hull which was incorrect so they are putting it on a mk3 hull which is the type of hull original
What happened to the original hull??
Bollocks to the tank thingy! Massive congratulations to Jack and Mrs Jack 🥂🎂💑.
Already! He's only been married ten minutes 😮.
@@keitht3055 It doesn't seem to have cheered him up, though!
@@slammerf16 ha you didn’t know me before I met my mrs 😂
congrats jack to you and the wife
Hopefully, you’ll get a contract to fix up a few more of the Tank Museum’s pieces that need some attention. Coming from an antique restorer, you guys have done a fantastic job.
Ted is receiving love from Titusville FL USA. Since my dog Gomer passed 2 months ago seeing Ted with you makes me smile and think of my pal Gomer. Love you all Mr. Hewes but special love for Ted.
Sorry for your loss
@@MrHewes Thank you. You can just hug Ted for me then.

@@ibubezi7685 Because she for some reason is not around on Camera. I like her as well but don't even know her name. I just heard the spaniel called a good girl.
"What a noisy piece of sh-" hahaha :D
It looks absolutely majestic when entering the hangar
You make it all look so easy
Good to have Jack back, his helpful comments are priceless - "Brackets Mate, Brackets, They're Brackets"
There's a marketing opportunity - 'Mr Hewes Grumpy Jack Cider' seriously though, great work!
Good to see Ted heavily involved in supervising this segment. No squashed fingers with Ted on the job!
You guys should be knighted for this amazing piece of British Military history 👌
Arise Sir Ted
"Hope you enjoyed the video . . ." a complete waste of breath, I ALWAYS enjoy Mr. Hewes' videos, Regards from the former New World Colonies.
All eyes will be on that lovely beast at Tankfest. Wonderful restoration. Also congrats on your marriage Jack.
Anyone else notice Jacks scratch and sniff test? 😂
" its not the sort of thing you can un-see is it " 🤗 🤣

And another is brought together and that long barrel cannon for a better word it's going to be great to see that cannon mounted. and another great video
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOO WHOOO ! You Guys ROCK !
Cheers From California 😎
You should make a playlist about the Fv4005 coming together.
I have check it out
Its great how caring you are towards Ted, he is clearly a special friend and he is important to the channel and the workshop.
You guys deserve a gong, especially Jack with wedding and all. Think everyone should be well impressed with your efforts and professionalism to bringing the FV4005 back to life.
That's bloody incredible, from gate guard to working in no time really. Well done.
Never clicked so fast in my life
Not gonna lie I wasn't expecting a BREAKFAST reference. Not disappointed. Nice work fellas, glad to see it's coming along.
I think Ted needs an inflatable paddling pool to lay in! Well done Jack, not a virgin anymore, was it worth the wait? 😛 That thing looks amazing 👏👍
YES THATS THE EASIEST TRACK BASHING I'VE SEEN FOR JUST THREE PEOPLE AND A DOG.😮😊
4.18 "whoa, whoa you've gone all slack again..." Hee, 😁
Just making a a batch of chilli. Sat back down at the laptop for simmering time, and this little beauty appears. Excellent work there Ted.
It's a beast and looks amazing, good old Ted doing a grand job despite the Jnr staff flirting with him.
Being able to restore a one of the kind object like that is a real honor, and it speaks volumes to you and your guys ability to do things right. NICE!
10:50 love the way they both popped up like Punch and Judy 😂
“That identifies as a hammer” pans up to a wall of hammers behind him😂 i love this guy
This video is a masterclass in Youtubing. Great content, great editing, great camerawork. No zooming in, long informative shots. Why you only have 226k subscribers is beyond me. You deserve, and i'm sure will have a lot more!
Cheers I’m trying to improve with each video
seeing the turret swing around just before being dropped onto the hull was basically like seeing the turret rotating on its own as if it was on the hull. It is really exciting to see how close it is to being complete!
It is also really cool to see it moving under its own power with the turret
That is a hell of a turret, it makes the tank look small, I am not sure I would want to be in it when the gun fires, it looks great, if not a little unreal, what a mad machine.
man if only i didn't sell that old 183mm destroyer shell and powder casing in the garage sale 2 years ago i would give it to you guys
That moment when your lady shouts
"Whoa, you've gone all slack again"
Epic series with the”Big Green Fighting Machine”. Just gets better and better. SO satisfying watching those pins go in. That Foden is worth its weight in Cheerios… Crack on team Hewes!
That's a nice armored barn you got there
Congratulations Jack.
Bravo gentlemen!
It Runs, Moves Pops and Booms, what a Beasty, welcome back Jack !
Ted is just thinking nice weather for a cold pint 😅
Well done boys
I've been loving this FV4005 restoration! You fellas are doing a top notch job. Ted's supervision is right on point. You'd be lost without his expert advice. Nice work all!
The history being reborn is off the chart, well done to you and the team for resurrecting the FV4005
Amazing work from everyone. Well done.
But are we to be worried that Ted seems to be branching out on his own. 😮
I used to run old M-47's as target vehicles for military weapons tests. They were a ball to drive, but a real pain in the butt when they threw a track. We needed a 4X4 pick-up truck, a tow-strap, some long pry-bars, a sledge-hammer, and a lot of grunting to get a track back on.
A work of passion and so good to see this progress! A journey we all have enjoyed - you've done the Country proud
You made that look easy Mr Hewes! Experience!!
Phil
Good job Ted and Team 👍👀✨️👏
Those railway carts (pumpcarts) are real & I had driven them! Beautiful job though, mates! Excited to see it come together.
It's like a watch bracelet for a giant 😂
Hope everything goes along well gents, it's looking like she may be sorted in tme for Tankfest!
Hard to believe it was conceived and built in the first place .
Amazing job people.
Good camera work and sound .
Great video 👍🏼
Still cannot get over how clean and shiny the engine compartment (+ contents) is! Its a reassuring relief to get a peek into the rusty driving section, which looks its age!!🤣
you guys have too much fun.....i am so envious.
thanks for doing my mum jack!
awesome work guys
What beast that turrent is huge , bet Jacks Mum is happy 😂😂😂
Super job! Yep, Jack's back and louder than before! 🙂
If the engine works. Lay the track out in front of the vehicle, put a track rope on the first link and run the rope over the top rollers and around the sprocket, then use the engine/sprocket as a windlass to pull the track on, when the track gets to the sprocket and has engaged with the sprocket teeth remove the rope continue to drive the sprocket until the track meets the track under the last road wheel. Because both tracks are off you would have to pull the vehicle onto the track. Once one sides on you can move the vehicle onto the other track using the gearbox. I was in the Armoured corps for 23 years and that's how we did it on CVRT, AFV432, Chieftain and Challenger. Just a thought. Keep up the entertaining videos. 👏
That sounds like a lot of work, also it’s only me and Jack, in the army you probably had 10 men. Remember there’s more than 1 way to skin a cat
However thank you for your service
@@MrHewes we normally had 3 men, maybe 4. Not a criticism of how you do it I just feel there's an easier way. Please keep up the great work, I really enjoy your posts.
I did that with a cent track in bovvy , just me and a driver , using a track rope and the final drive .
That's exactly how we did it on our Cent AVREs and Chieftain AVLBs too.
The worst part was joining all the 4 link pieces together and afterwards splitting the old track. Two men could carry 4 links but it was easier with three of you.
As we usually had plenty of time it was usually a crew job and if you had somebody who was good with a sledgehammer it didn't take very long either.
@@MrHewes actually the easiest way to do it.
Such a great series, its a joy watching you guys putting the 4005 together
I think you guy's will be able to get it ready in time, seem to be doing pretty good progress every video
Congratulations Jack 👍
Vid quality getting better and better, this is a major milestone! Hope you guys are congratulating yourselves!
You just made me want a set of tracks as a garden fence or property line fence 😮
Looking good girls and boys. Congratulations Jack and Mrs jack. Looking forward to the next video.
With a bit of help from the lads Ted has done it again His video skills and direction have no limits Well done lads and keep up the good work
Good to see Jack hasn't suffered any ill effects from his honeymoon.
I never had a set of tracks fit that well, the track gods were looking down on you.
Roll on next video.
Bloody good job Ted Camera Crew and Lads !!! 😉🙃😎
0:02 little 'Tall Mr Hews" next to the gigantic turret... I enjoyed the take very much.
Get a sarong or an old towel, hold it under the yard tap for a minute, ring it out and presto! You have dog air conditioning. Rinse and repeat when said towl dries out. Ted will love you, that cold cement floor, and a thin wet towel over him. Used to do it to my black Dane in Africa when it got really hot.
"The gun is live"
I think we ought to get the British Military and Bovington Tank Museum to produce some shells and a firing range for it. Let everyone see it delete some stuff.
Well done chaps, a bit of history restored. Congrats to Mr & Mrs Jack.
Looks great 👍
Well done Guys it is much better than television...
Love it when she says: "You've gone all slack again." 🤣
And the sun is shining across South Leicestershire! BIG bonus
Best videos on TH-cam. I never realised that the Tracks only ran off one series of Sprockets each side, for some reason I thought they were at each end of the Tank.
Amazing work, such a great channel to watch. Please let’s push the algorithm to help spread this amazing channel to 500k then 1 million subs. Better than mainstream tv.
That’s a battleship turret on a tank hull! Wow!! Even with a camouflage paint scheme you aint hiding that thing!!!
“You’ve gone all slack again” 😂 as the actress said to the bishop..😂😂
Amazing work, well chuffed for you, great to see it all coming together. Also glad for a bit of bully back at the end. ❤❤
i thought the lads looked like the windy chap on one of them kids windmills you had in the garden back off them 80s
great vid boyz
I caught this one late as I was catching up on Clarksons farm. Great to see Jack's midget arms back. Top tip for track tension: if you want to tension the left track, slightly neutral turn right and the slack will come to the front, and vice versa. That way you can collect the slack easier with the idler wheel. That's how we did it on chally 2, only we had hydraulic track tension so no hand cranking 👌🏼👍🏼.
Armoured shed is an accurate statement. Good luck from Canada
Thank you for restoring this tank, besides the last one in existence. I'm glad to know these tank can ride again.
Never realised what a behemoth this bugger was until seeing you stand by it! Crikey
Superb chaps and lasses! Thatshed could be parked in the turret it's so big.. and extra points for wedding dancefloor singing!👊🏻
The dream shed of every middle aged dad
That brings back memories, track bashing in the summer heat in Germany. Getting ready for autumn exercises.
I've had bedrooms smaller than that turret, and the paintwork has never been as nice either! Top job, everyone involved. Class.
You guys really did great with your massive Tonka toy! Again and again the Foden is proving it's worth easily moving the turret to its place and doing a great job with its tracks quickly. Congratulations with the wedding 💑
love how when you "hammered" the "pin" in with a pin and ratchet and a wall of hammers right next to you.
