- We clean off and Load up this Lovely example of a MK5 Chieftain Tank for its long journey to the United States. I also help a buddy of mine with his stuck digger ram pin.

I think there was quite a bit of skill shown loading the Chieftain on to that trailer. Gentle and measured with the controls, despite being blasted in the face with water. Very nice.
Now we know why they put a turbo on the original engine.

Top tip, to owners of machines with hyd rams. Perhaps once every time you use them, operate them through the full range of movement and if possible, leave them sitting with the rams inside the cylinder.
Honestly it just seems like some glass and a turbo would make that a nice farm machine. It looks pretty decent with all the panels now.
If by “nice” you mean a machine that every cylinder seal will have to be replaced, all the cylinders will have to be rechromed and it’ll probably blow 1 hose of about 30 every time he uses it, then you’re right, it’ll be a nice machine. 😂

Slap a Turbo on that Retro Cat 360 and it will stop the rev's dropping when you're digging. (As you know)

When you started digging the hole, I got flashbacks to all the farms I've turn up at where they've "gone through a wire or something" and isolated the local village and themselves.
Flash being the operative word.
The antirust system from the dipper cylinder is working well! Never seen as much rust coloured chrome before.
Ah, yes, I DID wonder whether there were any pipes where you started digging with such gusto! But the digger digs, hoorah!

Last time I dug a hole on a farm (1984) it was to bury a cow that had spent the night upside down in the water trough. I didn’t quite dig it deep enough, so all four feet stuck up ~8” 😂😂
Had a job years ago washing harvesters for export from Western Australia to India.. Pretty damn intensive and had to be absolutely spot on.

Just ran a hose like that on my machine for a few weeks , wasn't bothered as it was on low pressure side , had to lay it up today though as it now leaks like that ram.
you need some perspex or polycarbonate windows with 3m stone guard to resist scratching. or you could go the old clingwrap windows for the tight ass look.:) why didnt you swap the turbo from the dead engine to this one? sounds like you could use a bit more grunt.
The 360 leaks like a scuppered Uboat!
Few hints, dig over the idlers not final drives.
When power digging position the bucket angle to cut not drag the face of the teeth. Lots of little tricks to speed production & incur less west & tear.
I can tell it's bedtime and I've taken all of my medication (opiates). I just shouted "Ted" at my screen when he was thinking about drinking drain water. It was in perfect synchronisation with whom i presume was Seb. I made myself jump too.😄😄❤❤❤😃😃

A turbo would help the old girl as would a smaller bucket but she digs, if a tad weepy!

@@macles9051 Well yes but the turbo engine was rather poorly ... I mean to find a complete running CAT engine (albeit without a turbo) for 'not a lot' was a bit of a result.
If you find a narrow bucket for the digger. Yup rebuild stick ram. But flushing hydraulic system is fun.

Used to work for a plant hire company the powerwash was on hydraulic line of about 30meters we could unscrew the Lance and put drain jet on the end it would happily pull its way thought drains like that ... if your going to have lots of mud and silt it would be a good investment

Gas-less MIG or fluxcore welds stronger due to the direction of the current. However the flux gas is aweful on your lungs. Get a good respirator welder mask now before you have trouble breathing in 20 years like me.

I use flux core on outside welding only because the argon tends to blow away in the breeze.
Hard to get really neat welds though, but penetration always seems good when I have to cut through it.
I would never use it indoors.
Frankly I think anyone who welds more than an hour a fortnight should invest in a respirator, I cannot see breathing in any of that crap being good for you.
That is a big hole to bury a bit of spilled oil. Get your wet and dry out that ram will be mint in no time.
Sounds like that excavator needs a turbo.😉

Yes gasless wire welding is stronger than Mig with Gas. All machinists use it for extra strong welds when beauty does not matter
