Hey! We're about release shooting a stand in ship hull this Sunday with our cannon and I figured you might be interested in seeing the results! I've learned so much from your videos about new projectiles and the use of robinet cannons. Keep up the great work!
This all really screams to be adapted into a movie, but hey, the general public thinks of the Caribbean when they hear "Pirates". Though honestly, I think it could be an interesting aesthetic with such a setting.
Absolutely, a realistic and historically accurate film about pirates is long overdue! Hollywood, hello? It would be much more interesting than the romanticized versions. I would want very much to see it! 🌹⚓
I wish there was a game, set in Pirate Round, rather than Caribbean, with New York or Main being your "hub space", so to speak. Years from my childhood it's obvious to me, that Stevenson's "Long" John Silver was a Red Sea rover.
I have been very interested in this period of piracy as apparent in Discord. This video is a wonderful overview. BTW I do think there might have been a reference to a pirate named North in some of the stuff I shared in Discord, but Ghop surely invented stuff of the Red Sea men. Anyways, great stuff and I hope these vids gets the attention they deserve. Very interesting quote also at the start, had never heard of the book. Cannot wait for Every and Buccaneer stuff coming in the future. Cheers!
Thank you so much for everything you do! This is possibly the greatest pirate story and it so often gets overlooked. Also, I'm very much looking forward to the video on Every/Avery. 💚

Interestingly I encountered an anecdotal case which I wanted to share as I do not think is known at all: In 1663 a "secret company" was established in Sweden to organize Red Sea piracy. A Dutchman turned Swede named Henrik Gerritsen (Swedish noble name Sjöhielm) was to command an expedition to the Red Sea with a man of war 'Falken'. After a few prizes in the Red Sea Gerritsen betrayed his employers and Swedish funders as he sold his ship to Portuguese at Goa. He run away to Holland where he died after. I read of this in an old book by Fennoswedish author Eirik Hornborg who made a decent book back in 1927/8 (relatively speaking only of course, it has a lot of research of Barbary pirates, but of course only basic buccaneers and Johnson's generic basic pirates with these small Swedish anecdotes). Sadly the book is only printed in Swedish and Finnish. The Swedish tittle is Sjörövare. Skildringar ur sjöröveriets hävder author Eirik Hornborg printed in 1927 or 1928.
On another channel I watch, Arizona Ghost riders, they released a video about researching the Old West. I was wondering, do you ever plan on releasing a video about researching the Golden Age of Piracy? I'd be interested in seeing what resources there are, and what books you would recommend on the subject.
Would you ever do a video on pirates in prisons? Like the treatment and living in the prisons but idk if there is enough about it to make into a video pirates were just often hanged than spending years in prisons.
Love your videos, could you do one with a list of recommend sources, books, materials on pirates? I find that there’s a lot of misinformation out there and wonder where you get your info. Thanks!

16th century renegade Portuguese mariners were the 1st European pirates in the Indian ocean region & Far East over 100 years before the arrival of all the other Westerners.
@@GoldandGunpowder you mentioned that Portuguese & Spanish sailed around Africa.? where the hell are getting your sources. ? it was the Portuguese not the Spanish who made that voyage as those were Portugal's waters. any middle schooler knows that one. but you mention it vaguely anyway. but no mention of Portuguese pirating in that region. lazy on your part. Portugal had a century of pirating in the Indian ocean and the Pacific off the Chinese coast and Japan long before the first English, Dutch or French ships ever appeared in those waters. and you never mention how Portuguese pirates were the first Europeans to prey on Muslim shipping in that region, or how the first Western pirates to appear off the coast of China & Japan were Portuguese. but the reason most people don't know this is because intellectual lazy doofus like yourself are agenda driven and don't do your research and spread fake news.
@@GoldandGunpowderNewer fan gréât stuff. Don’t you normally cover mostly the golden age? Idk. This guy has a hard on (erection, never know what slang non natives know.) for Portugal. Is omission of an earlier period intellectual dishonesty? Or editing for time? Questions are rhetorical not looking for answers. Unless you are inclined. Like the animation in this one.

I wish there was any good pirate video game made in the last ten years.
I'm planning an RPG campaign about mutineers that turn pirate in the red sea. I can't thank you enough for this excellent resource!

This is more like the kind of content that I want to see. 😄
Excellent as always! Love these longer format, in depth videos!
Found this video trying to solve a problem but stayed for the interesting history

I saw Red Sea Men once. Turns out it was a kidney stone
Loving the new content. Very informative, and the quality is getting better and better.
